Need advice on which technologies to use and their implementation
I wanted to build a web app that can pull up company data/latest news from many news sources like Techcrunch, Bloomberg, Twitter, and Linkedin.
My goal is to be able to see the latest news of searched companies from the search bar. Also, wanted to add a "follow" feature like social media. So then users can follow particular companies and get the latest news about them.
Can you suggest which APIs I can use and how can I implement the "follow" feature in my case..

We're using the Apple News REST API to automatically "publish" articles from our custom CMS into Apple News.
So far, we've been using the Create an Article API to generate an Apple News compatible article to publish. However, I was unable to find an API request that actually publishes it. Just creating the article puts it into our "Drafts" section of our Apple News Publisher account, which we then have to manually publish.
This is very cumbersome and manual. Is there some sort of API available for moving articles from Drafts into Published? We've reached out to Apple's Developer Forum to no avail.
Apple lets you publish articles immediately by setting "isPreview" to false in your request metadata. See details there: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_news/create_article_metadata_fields
Note: Your channel needs to be approved for this to work.
I want to build a plug-in for Joomla where the webmaster simply specifies the ASIN number, and it builds the entire product link as is done at the Amazon Affiliate website. With creating so many links, it is time consuming to build them one at a time at the Amazon website.
I looked into this, and it looks like the only difference between the links it builds are the asin, at least it has been this way in the past, but the iframes it builds includes a 'linkId'. Which is a unique number. It is unique each time you use the build product link even though it is on the same ASIN.
How is Amazon generating this number? How can I generate it? I've looked in their Product Advertising API document and did a search for 'linkId' and it didn't find anything. I also can't find documentation about it anywhere else, just speculation that it is used in the Amazon Affiliate Reports, which is an important report.
It appears that the 'linkId' is generated for internal use by Amazon and isn't a requirement for Amazon Affiliates. This might explain why it isn't mentioned in their documentation.
We would like to use the Instagram API to harvest comments from a Brand page into a CRM Solution.
From this CRM Solution, agents will consult and possibly reply to Instagram Posts.
I think the most appropriate use case for what we plan to do is this one:
"My product helps brands and advertisers understand, manage their audience and media rights"
Here my question:
During the submission review, we need to join a Video Screencast of our project.
This part is really annoying for us as:
We don't want to share on a public platform (like youtube) the details of our project and CRM solution
Is there any workaround to this ?
You don't need to "join" video screencast, you need to submit a video of product functionality (use quicktime screen record), upload the video on google drive and share the link, only instagram will be seeing it, only the people u send link will be able to get to the video, it will not be public when sharing from Google Drive, there are varrious settings while sharing. You need to show login flow and all API functionality of app. This worked for me. The usecase looks correct for your app.
I want to write a little Deezer to Spotify switcher, which transfers my artists and albums to my Spotify account. How can I follow an artist and add an album to my music library using one of Spotify's SDK (Libspotify, Web-API or Android SDK)?
This sounds like an awesome feature! (As long as it's not the other way around ;-)
Following and unfollowing artists and users isn't possible just yet, but please stay tuned for updates. You can either follow #SpotifyPlatform on Twitter or follow the Web API Change log. I can also update this answer once this feature is available.
Update: Following artists or users is possible to do using the Follow Artists or Users endpoint in the Web API. It was released in December, 2014.
An account manager that I work with has come up to me and insists that the Foursquare API can be used to "checkin" to a website, so basically saying one could checkin to www.somewebsite.com (this differs from checking into a venue via a website). Admittedly the language on the brand page creative use FAQ on foursquare.com reads a little odd:
Building “check-ins” into your own application or website
Has the FS API been used to do such a thing? I couldn't see how, or why FourSquare would allow this capability. I do see they have Brand pages which looks nothing more that what Twitter might accomplish.
On another note, where does someone contact FS regarding a branded promotion like the one they have done for SuperBowl Sunday? There is nothing on the site to let someone know where to contact them.
Foursquare check-ins are to venues, and venues always have a physical location associated with them. So no, you can't check in to www.somewebsite.com. What you can do is use the API to check in from www.somewebsite.com.
To contact foursquare about partnership opportunities, e-mail partners#foursquare.com
The foursquare API is for checking into locations. What the FAQ is telling you is that you can make an application that allows people to check in to a location from that application.
Let me give you a potential example.
A restaurant has a loyalty club where you register online and can check into the restaurant when you arrive, for coupons. But the restaurant also allows you to link your restaurant account with your foursquare account. So the next time you show up at the restaurant, you enter your phone number and presto, you're also checked into foursquare.
It might not be a great application, but it's an example of something that could be done and the type of application to which the FAQ was referring, not checking into a website itself.
as for the branding question, check out their Merchant Platform page.
