I installed VBox version 5.22 on server that runs Ubuntu 16.04, when I try to create a Virtual Machine and enter a new name I am observing that the mapping of my keyboard is wrong, e.g., "space" is mapped to "7" . I tried to updated VBox to 6, but it did not help.
The keyboard layout in the system]1
I noticed that the onboard keyboard (screen keyboard) shows "?" and says "No X Keyboard found, retrying .."
Onboard keyboard
Any help is appreciated
It seems the keyboard mapping between your physical computer and the virtual machine is not matching.
You can change the keyboard layout on virtualbox, inside your VM, with the following command:
sudo setxkbmap de
sudo setxkbmap: set keyboard mapping, runs as root user.
de: for German keyboard. You can change it to your favorite layout code.

Iʼm running VSCode on Linux. Its window contains menu bar (usual style: File, Edit, ..., Help) which is accessible only with the mouse. I havenʼt managed to find a shortcut to select a menu item or even the whole menu bar. This differs from Windows where this menu is controllable using regular Windows style (Alt+F for File, etc.)
Is there a shortcut to go to the menu bar or its item? What is its name, if present?
Linux = Ubuntu 20.04+KDE, freshly updated.
VSCode = 1.68.1 (latest today) from Ubuntu snap (stable channel).
It works well for me (Ubuntu: 20.04.4 LTS, VSCode: 1.68.0) and it is supposed to work in the same way for Linux or Windows. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_keyboard_shortcuts.
What happen when you press Alt? Can it select the menu bar?
How to export a keyboard config with the display in linux (with Exceed client app) please ?

The pycharm export in exceed is working but the setxkbmap fr doesnt work. The keyboard in pycharm is in qwerty whereas my keyboard on my server is in azerty (which I need in pycharm). Thanks

Problem
The "Move Line Up/Down" shortcut I was using on Windows (Shift + Alt + Up/Down) is not working.
Description
On intelliJ, I opened Settings/Keymap window to check the shortcut was correctly set.
When trying to redefine this shortcut, the "Alt" button was not detected when pressed.
However, I can use it on elementaryOS (e.g. Alt+Tab is working).
On intellij, I can use some other shortcuts like "Alt + Up".
My OS were recently installed.
I already tried to put UK layout/input method with no success.
Two ideas:
system settings : something i missed in keyboard settings ? Don't know much about linux configurations.
IntelliJ option i'm missing.
Thanks.
Finally found the issue.
On elementaryOS,
Go to your Keyboard settings, select "Layout" tab.
On "Switch layout" options, change the default shortcut "Alt + Shift".
Then I am able to reuse this specific shortcut in IntelliJ.

I have Debian 9 with GNOME 3.22.2.
I want minimize all windows with super+D shortcut keyboard. This command working in Ubuntu 18.04 but not working in Debian. I wanted to add keyboard shortcut to custom shortcut, but i did not know the command to add it.
Hide all normal windows inactive by default in Debian 9, I found it in keyboard shortcut list in navigation section and set Super+D shortcut.
I have Raspbian Debian Wheezy installed on my Raspberry Pi. I was trying to learn python in IDLE 3 but when I tried to type the Number symbol (aka Hashtag, Pound) it came out with "£", so I can't type the number symbol at all. Also this symbol " is now swapped with the #. I was trying to reconfigure my keyboard with "sudo raspi-config" but I don't know what my model for my keyboard is. I am not familiar with the logo. But in the back it says "98149 Multimedia Keyboard". Is there a way to remap my keyboard correctly?
P.S. The default selected model is Generic 105 key (Intl) PC
you can use this command
setxkbmap us
