On my virtual machine with Windows 7, IIS 6.1 is installed. Everything was working up till January 2020 after that the websites stopped working. I tried checking localhost, it's not working either. I've checked all bindings and everything is correct. No ports are clashing. I've searched everywhere on the internet and tried all possible options but couldn't figure out why localhost is not working.
I'm getting the below error
I don't have much experience in virtual machines. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Turning IIS feature OFF, save and then ON worked for me. But still doesn't know why it happened in the first place.

Pretty much title.
Cursor constantly changes from standby to loading, but other then that the screen stays white.
I have tested it on windows server 2019 and it worked, same goes for my local computer which is windows 10.
I tried building a x32 bit version and it crashed.
There is barely any information on the internet regarding older versions, and the one thread I saw mentioned what Ive tried already.
Can anybody point me to the right direction? I'm kinda clueless right now and trying to compare things like .NET Framework and such (although I'm pretty sure it's not related at all?)
Thanks!
EDIT:
I'm getting an error in the event viewer that theres a faulting modoule, and it is ntdll.dll
going to continue research for now!
Just incase anyone sees this and have a similar issue:
1.The desktop on our citrix server was programmed to be located on a network share and not on a physical hard drive, so I had to move it to the proper folder.
2.The application worked only when I placed it on the local drive, and only as a 32 bit application.
I spent two days basically trying everything on a 64 bit application, because when I tested the 32bit one it just crashed, but it turns out they were two seperate issues which are finnaly resolved!
I am having the same issue as I've seen elsewhere but can no longer comment or reply - must be too old a post.
This happens only on my remote server running WIN2012, IIS 8.5 and on my brand new laptop, IIS 10.
I have been successful in running site on desktop WIN7, IIS 7.5 system only.
Seems it comes down to the computer's configuration. I needed to manually install IIS and other stuff on the WIN7 machine since none of it was there.
I don't believe the web.config file is the issue as you've stated, but something in the software installed is the problem.
Why can't this work cross platform? I am using the same folder paths. the "Test Settings" buttons may show errors, but sites other test sites still open (sites with an index file).
I have not found an answer and it's been weeks. If someone else can help it would be appreciated.
I am using Android studio 3.0.1 and that is working really very fine. I have upto date SDK version and I have upto date gradle version.
Everything seems to be perfect now. But I am now facing a problem and I have no idea why it is occurring.
Problem:
Whenever I try to access webservices my emulator/AVD never access that. Also I am unable to access the internet using emulator browser. Even it is unable to open the Google.com page.
I have searched this problem but non of them is working for me. I have checked the Ip configrations and that is totally fine. I am not using any specific DNS settings and I am not using any special VPN network. My network adapter is just fine. I am using Windows 7
Please help me if anyone of you having solution of this problem. Thanks in advance.
Well there are couple of cases i want to discuss. And that is totally what I dig out after trying for hours.
I have same Issue. and for this I have seen that there was nothing wrong with the AVD i was creating again and again. But I was using Windows 10 and using android studio over it.
The problem was the virtual networks. I got them created for the Blue stacks and GeneyMotion emulator. They sets the IP and the DNS them self for virtual network
SO if you are having virtual network set their IP to defaults. OR disable them at all. Also disable other networks except the one you are using.
and after doing this all. Create the new AVD and check if that starts working.
I've been running IIS over the years, on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 7.
Since I moved to Windows 10, I've been having lots of problems with IIS running slowly.
I have a clean install of Windows 10 on my PC, not a previous Win7 version upgraded to Windows 10.
These are the versions:
Windows 10 Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.420)
Internet Information Services (Version 10.0.10586.0)
I have tried all sorts to fix this issue, such as editing my hosts file to this:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Or commenting that line out.
I've tried running as:
127.0.0.1/mysite instead of localhost/mysite
I've tried tweaking various settings on the ApplicationPool, as per reading I've done on StackOverflow and the web in general.
There is nothing in the Event Log to do with errors or problems being flagged up.
However, a lot of the time page refreshes take over 1 minute to complete, which makes local development very slow.
The issue is the same on Chrome, Firefox, IE and Edge browsers.
I just re-installed Windows 10 and had the same issue again.
My IIS files sit outside of the wwwroot folder, in the c:\data folder. The localhost site was running painfully slow again.
This time, I fixed it by giving Read access to IUSR, NETWORK SERVICE and IIS_IUSR when right-clicking the folder and going to Properties > Permissions - e.g. for NETWORK SERVICE:
After that I restarted the IIS server and it sped up a lot.
This isn't how I fixed it last time though, but I can't remember how I fixed it them - so putting in this fix this time before I forget it!
Today I upgraded my windows 7 ultimate to windows 10 pro. Every thing seems to work fine. But the localhost is now throwing error : HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.
I checked IIS, it is running. I checked the version of IIS from IIS Manager, it is showing Version 10.0.10240.16384.
I test my sites on localhost.
Before upgrade, in windows 7 ultimate it was working fine. I also checked "Turn windows feature on or off" and found that IIS is installed properly.
Please guide me.
Thanks Joe Raio for providing the hint. I checked the event log and found that rewrite.dll was causing error. I uninstalled IIS URL rewrite extension and the problem is gone. Now everything is working as before, classic asp, php, everything.
Please try this solution
Go to the Application Pool ...
Advanced Settings ...
Process Model ...
Identity ...
Set it to "LocalSystem"
