I have a row of boxes in powerpoint that are all exactly aligned and all exactly the same size. I connect them with arrows (the kind that can have corners in the middle and all the segments are exactly horizontal or vertical). The arrows are "snapped" into the snap sites on the center of the left and right sides of the boxes. Like this:
Annoyingly, the tip of the arrow seems to hook in just an annoying smidgen below where the tail hooks in. Sometimes the tip is higher than the tail. But for whatever reason they don't just make a straight line. This make every single arrow have an annoying bend right in the middle of it. This is driving me crazy.
It seems I can use a straight arrow, but I just always draw the diagram with the same arrow because I will move the boxes around I don't want to have to be changing arrow types all the time.
Is there ANY WAY to get this line to just be straight when the snap points are lined up?

I have two simple translucent circle sprites that I'm using as fake shadows (shown below) under some characters (not shown below). When the characters get close enough, sometimes their shadow circles can overlap - which is fine - but thanks to the default blending it doesn't look right. I want the shadow circles that do overlap to be visually merged/mixed so they maintain the same opacity, but instead they add together where they overlap like this: I have to imagine there's some way to make this work with a shader, but I'm so bad at shaders that I can't seem to figure it out. Does anyone know how to solve this?
Scratch allows selection of the color using the set pen color. Does anyone know if its possible to program to set the color to transparent so that what ever is drawn can effectively be erased? What would the color number be for that?

The idea was to cover a picture (background) with a colour drawn over the top. Now give the player a little creature that erases the colour on top, they have a certain amount of moves or time to guess what the picture is. The less moves/time they use the more points the player will be awarded.
But the problem seems to be that in the paint a sprite part of scratch erase is an option, but not in the pen programming.
If I cant solve it using erase apprach, my alternative is to make a lot of sprites covering the picture and hide them when the creature touches them. But it seems less fun for the player as the uncovered patterns will be more predictable.
Unfortunately, this isn't really possible. If you have a backdrop that's all one color, you could set the pen color to be the same as the backdrop and color over what you already have (giving the illusion of erasing), but other than that there really isn't a good way.
Your only other option is to use the clear block and then re-draw everything except the piece you want to erase.
If you want to give more context about your specific project, I might be able to help you work out a solution (I've done quite a lot with pen blocks over the years).
Like PullJosh said, it isn't really possible but you can make a sprite called Cover and make it a circle of any color you want. Then, it can clone it's sprite over the sprite you want to hide. Then you can attach a script to the clones:

XYPlot vertex points positioned towards the edge of the grid gets cut off and only show the half of the point inside the grid. Can I make it so the whole point is shown?
You just need to add some padding to the grid like this:
plot.getGraphWidget().setGridPaddingLeft(PixelUtils.dpToPix(5));
you'll probably also want to do the same on the right to keep things symmetrical.
I wanted to allow the Emacs cursor to move around freely outside of actual text (similar to virtualedit=all in Vim).
"Oh," I thought, "I'll just keep track of a virtual cursor and draw it to the screen myself."
But it turns out the actual native C drawing routines (such as draw_glyphs) seem to refer back to the buffer contents to decide what to draw (I could be wrong though).
My next idea was to make a giant overlay of all spaces so I'd have complete freedom where to put stuff. But an overlay only goes over ranges of actual text, so again, this does not seem to give me what I'm looking for.
Is this a reasonable goal without hacking the C code?
I believe the writeable area of a window is intrinsically limited to the buffer with which it is associated, i.e. you have to draw in an area where buffer content exists.
(One example of this limitation is the impossibility of drawing a vertical guide line in the 80th column to help the user identify long lines; currently the best possible implementation of such a feature is to highlight the "overflow" of each too-long line.)
You can do the same as what artist-mode does without adding spaces to the buffer:
when trying to place the cursor after the end of the line, just use an overlay with an after-string property which adds the spaces in the display without modifying the buffer.
Have a look at "artist-mode" (M-xartist-modeRET) - it allows you to draw in Emacs.
From the function documentation: "Artist lets you draw lines, squares, rectangles and poly-lines, ellipses and circles with your mouse and/or keyboard."
You can look at popup.el from the auto-complete package, which can pop up tooltips and menus and such at any position, including positions outside the contents of the buffer. Maybe that will show you how you can do it.
I have a multiviewport OpenGL modeler application. It has three different viewports : perspective, front and top. Now I want to paint a label for each viewport and not succeeding in doing it.
What is the best way to print a label for each different perspective?

For each viewport switch into a projection that allows you to supply "viewport space" coordinates, disable depth testing (glDisable(GL_DEPTH_TEST)) and depth writes (glDepthMask(GL_FALSE)) and draw the text using one of the methods used to draw text in OpenGL (texture mapped fonts, rendering the full text into a texture drawing that one, draw glyphs as actual geometry).
Along with #datenwolf's excellent answer, I'd add just one bit of advice: rather than drawing the label in the viewport, it's usually easier (and often looks better) to draw the label just outside the viewport. This avoids the label covering anything in the viewport, and makes it easy to get nice, cleanly anti-aliased text (which you can normally do in OpenGL as well, but it's more difficult).
If you decide you need to draw the text inside the viewport anyway, I'll add just one minor detail to what #datenwolf said: since you generally do want your text anti-aliased (even if the rest of the picture isn't) you generally want to draw the label after all the other geometry of the picture itself. If you haven't turned on anti-aliasing otherwise, you generally will want to turn it on for drawing the text.
