Cygwin console jabber client - cygwin

Do there exist any cygwin console jabber clients? I've not successfully compiled any of the console clients listed here in cygwin.

Have you tried Profanity?
http://www.profanity.im/
It works on Cygwin, includes desktop notifications on Windows, and the download has a script to install Cygwin dependencies for compile.

Cross-platform package a node.js app

So I have a Node.js app that runs on the command line.
I created a very simple GUI window in Qt which calls the Node.js command line program.
I can package up the Qt GUI with Qt Installer Framework.
It works great.
But it only works on my machine...
I need to:
install node.js on the user's computer. I don't want to rely on the "system" version of node.js and would prefer to have a "sandboxed" version of node.js somewhere in my application's directory. Also, user may not have any compilers installed...
run npm and install a couple of packages to the user's computer
needs to run on Mac/Windows/Linux
Am I being unrealistic here?

Update nodejs in cygwin

Sometime back I've installed nodejs via cygwin which shows me the version 0.4.12 when I do node -v in bash.
Recently I've installed nodejs with the window installer which shows me the version 0.10.20 in window command prompt.
My Problem is I'm using Claymate for GumbyFramework in cygwin and it requires nodejs version above 0.8.0. How can I update the Nodejs in cygwin to the latest version?
Btw I'm using Windows Vista OS.
Pls. help!! Thanks in Advance..
Please know that Cygwin is not a supported platform. There would be a node version which would break things for you. The latest version that compiles natively on Cygwin is 0.4.12. Though the wiki page mentions some people had success building Node.js 0.10 on MinGW+MSYS. Try the following instructions : http://opensourcepack.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/nodejs-with-posix-path-support.html
Don't mess with compile on Windows. You may want to just replace the old version Node.exe file with the newer Node.exe file on disk. You should be able to find the Cygwin folders within Windows explorer. You can search the entire disk, in windows not cygwin, for the file name node.exe. You should see the node.exe windows is finding, and the one cygwin is finding, under the cygwin folders.
Rename the cygwin node.exe and copy in the newer node.exe. Now, you nay get an issue with npm, in which case you may want to try the same thing with the npm folder.
I know cygwin isnt officially supported, but when you get it installed correctly it works.

Installing web2py on windows xp

How does one install web2py on Windows XP using cygwin? I've just installed cygwin and downloaded web2py in cygwin using
curl -O http://www.web2py.com/examples/static/web2py_src.zip
but when I try to unzip it using
unzip web2py_src.zip
it doesn't work (returns the error: -bash: unzip: command not found)
What do I do?
I was actually trying to open web2py from cygwin command prompt. Instead I used Windows CMD (after a day's crash course on it) and have been able to open web2py from the WCMD. I simply cd'd to the directory web2py was (I moved it from Downloads to drive C), then ran the -S projectname command, and voila, my project has been created and I'm able to work from the WCMD.Please I may be asking more questions as my journey progresses. Thanks to Regexident for your swift attempt to help!

File-based installation of Node.js

I'm temporarily stuck on a Windows machine on which I have no administrator privileges. I would like to get node.js "installed" in a directory without using an installer, which requires elevation. On the node.js site, I don't see this distribution option.
Is anyone aware of a file-based (zip, self-extracting exe, etc) download that I can use to run node.js without using an installer on a Windows machine? Is there a way to run the installer without administrator elevation?
OK, it turns out that the EXE download for Windows is all that node.js needs to run. I had thought that that was an exe for doing an installation. Just running the downloaded .exe works.

Running and debugging Qt App on Symbian^1 (5800XM)

I have a problem with running Qt app on my 5800.
I've installed Qt SDK 1.1.2(As I found it's only SDK version which support Symbian ^1) and compiled sample project using Symbian Toolchain. I use Qt 4.7.3 for Symbian. I've installe AppTRK and CODA on my target phone.
After compiling I tried to run on my phone. Application has been successfully installed on target but it is can't be runned. I don't know why. Same problem occurs when I use "Create Smart Installer package from projects properties.
After this I've installed Remote Compiler. And the remote compiler's package works fine on my phone. On remote compiler I've also used Qt 4.7.3
What the problem? Why I can't run self-compiled package on my phone?
Host: Linux Mint(Katya)
Target: Symbian ^1 5th Edition(Nokia 5800 XpressMusic)
Qt version: 4.7.3 for Symbian
Here is output after running app using installed on host Qt 4.7.3 and CODA:
Connecting to 192.168.1.23:65029... Connected. Launching: myapp.exe
Launch failed: Command answer [command error], 1 values(s) to request:
'C|4|Processes|start|""|"myapp.exe"|[""]|[]|true'
#0 {"Code":-1,Format="Failed to create the process (verify that the executable and all required DLLs have been transferred) (item not
found)"} Error: 'Failed to create the process (verify that the
executable and all required DLLs have been transferred) (item not
found)' Code: -1 Finished.
I think CODA doesn't work if TRK is installed.
Symbian^1 is now called S60v5 in the QtSDK and it's only available via online installer or SDKMaintainanceTool.
