SVN checkout not working - tortoisesvn

When I try to checkout with TortoiseSVN, the checkout dialog window hangs and no buttons respond.
I am under Windows 7 and use a VPN. On Windows XP it works.
I deactivated the firewall.

I don't know if it helps, but when my VPN disconnects everything related to it hangs... shell, everything. Maybe you are losing your connection somehow?

Atom installation error on Windows 10

I was getting this error when trying to install Atom using the installer.
I tried to run as Administrator but ever having the same error.
So I opened the Setup Log and found this line in many places of the log:
Failed to load local releases, starting from scratch: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\david\AppData\Local\slack\packages\RELEASES'.
To resolve this problem, I simply tried to change the AppData folder properties, unchecking the Attribute "Read-Only" and applying to subfolders.
After that, I could install the application and everything is working well.
I don't know whether what I did was the best solution, but it fixed my problem :)
Hope this help someone
If you have anti-virus installed on your system. Please disable it and try it once. Hope this will work for you because this worked for me like a charm.
One more thing you can check that your windows update service is also running. You check it out in Task Manager ->
So do this thing and check it out.
This is a permission related issue. Could be you don't have permission to write, in that case run as Administrator.
Right Click on the installer and select Run As Administrator.
If you still have the issue, disable your antivirus, defender or whatever you have to protect your PC from threats. Once Installed Enable it BACK
if you have Dropbox opened, close it.
You can try this:
open control panel
Windows firewall
click allow an app or feature through windows firewall
In that at right bottom click allow another app
Browse the downloaded atom.exe file and click open and click ok
first uninstall or disable the antivirus. In my case Guardian net secure was handling all the things of windows firewall. so i was not able to allow the app through windows firewall. therefore, it is necessary to uninstall these. then restart your laptop.
after restarting open control panel. go to windows firewall. on left top you will see
allow an app or feature through windows firewall . click on it. dialog box appears. click on change settings. at bottom click allow another app. then browse the downloaded file atom.exe. then install it
What worked for me was closing Slack and terminating any of it's processes in Task Manager.
This was what worked for me (Windows 11):
Go to properties>compatability on the installation file. Run the troubleshooter for compatibility, and it shoul provide a solution, wait, and if it works, select that it did so, and you’re all done.
To resolve this problem, I simply tried to change the AppData folder properties, unchecking the Attribute "Read-Only" and applying to subfolders.
After that, I could install the application and everything is working well.
This worked for me on Windows 11 home version.
Hope this helps
I managed to install by finding an older version.

Using IE in a virtualbox instance to test a site in VS2015 on my workstation

I have an ASP.net MVC application that I've developed using Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise that is not behaving nicely in IE8, and as much as I'd like to just declare IE8 as unsupported, this is unfeasible from a business perspective at the moment.
So, to test in IE8, I downloaded a VirtualBox containing an instance of windows with IE8 from here.
I've been successful in using this instance of IE8 to connect my organization's dev server (which is running Windows Server 2012r2, IIS 8.5.9600), so I've been able to reproduce the issue. I'd really like to be able to step through what's happening in the debugger, though.
So, I believe I have two options.
Connect to the IIS instance on our dev server using Visual Studio's remote debugging feature.
This is kind of intimidating to me to attempt, because there seem to be a lot of options and I'm unsure how to proceed. It would be nice to be able to figure this out, though, as being able to do remote debugging on the dev server would be very helpful for future development. I tried using the default transport and putting the host for the dev sever in the "qualifier" box in VS, but it just told me the debugger service wasn't running on the remote machine, even though I'm fairly certain it is.
Connect to my local workstation running Visual Studio from virtualbox
This seems like it would be the simplest solution, but I can't figure it out. I tried a few different network modes from virtualbox -- NAT, bridged, and Host-Only, but I could never get the page to load in IE inside the virtualbox. I tried using the ip of my workstation as reported by ipconfig /all (the IP of the normal network adapter for bridged and NAT mode, and the IP of the "Host Only" special adapter in Host Only mode) and the port VS was configured to use. No dice.
Any ideas on how I can move forward with either of these options? Or some third, better option?

Unable to access Android SDK add-on list

I'm new to Android programming. I was installing the Android studio and it got stuck at one point during installation showing the following message.
So, don't to how to proceed, I searched about it, but couldn't get explanation about this specific condition.
Can someone explain what to do next?
Screenshot:
Note: I'm using Windows 7, Installed JDK 7 before installing Android studio.
Update: I tried to click upon "Setup Proxy" and then just clicked ok without doing anything and it worked, don't know how, but it did.
Try that if any one face the same.
Add the following code to C:\Program Files\Android\Android Studio\bin\idea.properties
disable.android.first.run=true
Just open the file and press Ctrl+F and type run then you will find this run=false, change it to true.
1) click on set up proxy.
2) Select option Auto Detect proxy.
3) Click continue, it will work!!
All the best
I clicked Cancel at this screen and process of setup continued. I saw it on Linux after copying android studio folder from one PC to another. By the way, I started studio not connected to Internet cause I try to be able to work offline.
I just hit this same problem - I was on a VPN.
I tried setting a proxy with 'auto detect proxy settings' but it did not help.
Then I tried disconnecting from the VPN with no proxy set - this resolved the problem for me.
good luck.
You can set the right proxy to solve this problem.
Set proxy ->
Manule...
Https and port
Sometimes,if you use Shadowsocks on your macOS, maybe you will have the same problem. You can turn Shadowsocks off to deal with this problem.
I finally solved the problem by following the Steps:
Add the following code to "C:\Program Files\Android\Android Studio\bin\idea.properties"
Open idea.properties with notepad
Then, enter the code below anywhere on a new line in the file (see attached image)
Code :
disable.android.first.run=true
Save the file
Run the application
Clear your DNS if there is any dns server settings like google, comodo,
symantec etc.
Check your firewall settings if you are using tinywall, zonealarm etc.
If your computer and network connection doesn't have any dns settings and firewall; then check your internet connection maybe there is an update process to slowing down your internet speed. So if there is a process stop or wait for it. And try again. Good luck...
Yet another reason why this can happen is when your time and date settings are not synchronized correctly. I installed android studio inside a virtual machine linux guest that didn't properly synchronize the time with the windows host and as a consequence the above message occured even though my internet connection was working fine.

IIS localhost page not found in windows 7

I have windows 7 64 bit ultimate OS. I need to install IIS on my laptop. From turn on/off windows features I enabled IIS by checking the checkbox in front of IIS management console. But it was not successful and then I re-enabled it by checking all the checkboxes under the web management tool. This time it was success and if I type inetmgr now I can find the window.
But the problem is when I type localhost on my browser address bar page does not come(404 page not found.)
Can you please help me to solve this issue?
I solved the issue. The problem was default web site not running because of port 80 uses by another application. Then I changed the port and re start the web site. Now it is working fine. :)
Close all applications like Skype, DropBox, GoogleDisk, TeamViewer etc.
Type iisreset in Windows Console and press Enter
Start again all applications like Skype, DropBox, GoogleDisk, TeamViewer etc.
Whis way always working for me!
In My System the Problem was not with port. When i installed Apache some iis service has got uninstalled. SO I removed IIS from the features and Add Again, then it works fine.

Backspace on Cygwin Screen not working for Windows 2003 Server?

I updated a working Cygwin/Screen setup on Windows 2k3 Server to Cygwin v1.7.2 and Screen 4.00.03. After updating, backspace no longer works. I haven't made any changes to my system or configuration. The Cygwin update went fine, and I don't have any custom changes in /etc.
Any ideas?
This has been confirmed as a bug and is scheduled to be fixed. See this thread on the Cygwin mailing list for details.
Try this at command prompt:
C:\cygwin\bin\bash --noediting
