How to programmatically enable Windows Search component in Windows 7? - search

I've found many references on how to manually enable the Windows Search component, e.g.:

But the question remains: how to automate this code-wise?

Eclipse Marketplace Not Showing All Search Results

I'm having an issue with the eclipse marketplace where doing a search doesn't show all available results. Searching for "java" I get a list of about 10 available plugins and at the bottom it says "156 matches. Browse for more solutions."
The problem is, when I click to browse more solutions I just get a blank emacs window and I can't seem to get to any of the other search results so I'm stuck with only the first 10 options.
How can I get it to show the rest of the results?
I'm running eclipse on a RedHat 6 Linux server and using a Cygwin XWindow to open it on my PC. My eclipse version info is below.
When clicking on that link, Eclipse should be opening your web browser. Somehow, on your system, Eclipse thinks that Emacs is your web browser. You can fix this on your system set-up, or override that system settings in Eclipse for Eclipse only.
Set Default Browser
Open Preferences
Navigate to General -> Web Browser
Customize your settings
Visit Marketplace Directly
An alternative is to browse to the Eclipse Marketplace directly in your web browser:

How can I set keyboard filter on windows 7 embedded x64?

I am having trouble setting keyboard filters on windows 7 embedded x64 on a virtual machine. I have tried updating using windows embedded developer update on my windows 7 standard development machine but it will not allow me to get keyboard filter update.
I would like to add the keyboard filter to an answer file with ICE. I would like to run the answer file in vm on WES 7. I cannot find any way to put gpedit.msc is not on the WES 7 either. Thank you.
I solved the issue. When I was setting up the OS I used the template "digital signage". I did not realize that this template was so restricted and did not contain group policy editor.
I should have used "application compatibility" template as this contains almost all of the functionality I would need. I do not have any worries about my digital footprint so I do not need to use a shaven down template. Lesson learned.

What is the default location of inetmgr.exe of IIS in Windows 7, as none of my Windows searches are working; Any Alternative to access it?

Hi I want to acces, open "inetmgr.exe" on my Windows 7 machine. But none of the searches are working. ( Start Menu --> Search Program and Files NOR Search in My Computer).
I somehow want to access inetmgr.exe of IIS(InternetInformation Services).
So can anyone kindly let me know the
default location of inetmgr.exe or any
DOS command to access it. I even
tried typing "inetmgr.exe" in command
prompt. But not working. So PLz
somehow I need to access inetmgr.exe.
Thanks in advance.
It should be available in following location:
C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\InetMgr.exe
But when you goto start menu and type inetmgr.exe it should be visible in the list. If not then something wrong with your installation or that file has been deleted.
At first check IIS is installed or not.
For XP
Open Control Panel
Add-Remove Windows Components.
For Windows 7 / Windows Server 2012
Open Control Panel
Programs and Features
Turn Windows features on or off.
I had the same issue. Go into Control Panel -> Programs-> Turn Windows features on or off.
Click on features for Internet Information Services. Specifically, Web Management Tools and Wold Wide Web Services.
For Web Management Tools
->IIS 6 Management Compatibility
->IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility. (or any other features you think you may need)
I had the same problem on Windows Server 2016 with it not wanting to search. IIS Manager (with our normal websites) was showing in the Start menu but IIS 6 Manager was not (where the SMTP Virtual Server settings are located).
Luckily you can launch it from within Server Manager:
Yes, I installed IIS and still couldn't find InetMgr.exe until I went back to
Turn Windows features on or off
and then checked
Internet Information Services
Web Management Tools
IIS Management Console

Adding Prerequisites using InstallShield 2010

I am very new to Installshield 2010. I have created a basic MSI setup for my application.
I need to check a few prerequisites for my application those are as below.
Microsoft frame work 3.5 with SP1.
Sql Express 2005.
Visual C++ redistributable
If any of the above things are not installed before means, I have to install while installing my application.
Can anyone guide me How I can install all these prerequisites before I installing my application?
Take a look at "Setup Prerequisites" and "Feature Prerequistes" They are the same except that the former are installed by setupe.exe before calling your MSI and the latter are installed by setup.exe (conditionally) after your feature selection and prior to the execution of the execute sequence in your msi.
If you go for the former, you probably also want to author AppSearch/System Search and Launch Conditions to block your MSI in case the user doesn't enter through the setup.exe.
InstallShield has predefined prereqs ( .PRQ's ) for each of those although I will caution you to atleast use SQL 2005 SP3 as there is a nasty bug in SP2 that can blue screen an XP machine. I'd actually really consider going with SQL 2008 R2.
Also found more info here in this page: http://kb.flexerasoftware.com/doc/Helpnet/InstallShield2011/IHelpSetPrereqCustom.htm
This one took me quite a while to find, hopefully I'll save you some time.
If you just want to force your user to have some applications installed (e.g. 'Visual C++ redistributable') or some specific configuration (e.g. specific Windows version/ reg value etc.)
You can use 'Behavior and Logic -> System Search' add the search for what you need (file/folders/registry entries/ini files values/XML file values),
On "What do you want to do with the value?" dialog select Store the values in the property and use the property in an Install Condition".
This will cause the Search to be executed when your installation package starts and will display an error popup to the user saying what ever message you've entered for the condition.
Few notes:
- If you're looking for a x64bit registry entry - mark the "Search the 64-bit portion of the Registry" check box.
- Did not find a way to edit the Condition once created, when tried to edit it it just lets me see and change the search parameters, but for the condition it only allows to enter it from scratch; as a workaround you can save the project as XML file (Installation Information -> General Information -> Project File Format) and edit the XML externally.
Good luck.

Have you had a look at google? It appears the search results cover your question quite well.
For instance:
