How do I use SharePlusLinuxPlugin? - linux

I'm trying to open an image from memory with the default image viewer on Linux.
The class is part of the share_plus package. I can't figure out how to define the required UrlLauncherPlatform property.
I want to use it like this:
SharePlusLinuxPlugin(urlLauncher).shareXFiles([XFile.fromData(img)]);
I have googled this class, didn't find any usage examples.

From the source code on Github, it looks like shareXFiles() has not been implemented on Linux. To quote:

The same is true for the shareFiles() method.
Aside from that, there is usually no need to call SharePlusLinuxPlugin directly. The Share class is configured in such a way that it automatically detects the platform that it is running on

How to know if an object has IN-LINKS in DXL

I'm trying to make a DXL program that looks the IN-LINKS of a given object.
I will explain myself better: in my system, the links goes from SW to SYS modules, and for the SW modules I need to see some things about the SYS attributes linked to software. But for the SYS modules I need to see diferent things from these attributes.
Besides, due to requirements I need to differentiate the two cases (SW and SYS), so I connot check what I need only with the software OUT-LINKS (in other words, I have to enter systems, look at some things, say that I m in systems and check the IN-LINKS.
I have tried to do something like I would do in SW, but nothing.
In SW, i check the OUT-LINKS with:

and this works, but for SYS:

This code only works if the SW module linked is previously opened. But I can't open this module previously because I don't known which is this module.
Is there a better way or does anyone have any ideas how to do this?

You are looking for link references (type LinkRef). Check the DXL manual at https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSYQBZ_9.6.1/com.ibm.doors.requirements.doc/topics/dxl_reference_manual.pdf, chapter "Links"->"Finding Links"->"for each incoming link".
Syntax:
for LinkRef in Object tgtObject<-(string linkModuleName) do {
...
}
Perhaps you should read the complete chapter "Finding Links" to be aware of more specific cases like links from baselines, information about echoed links etc.

Creating JHipster blueprint to extend the field type prompt

I have already created a test blueprint that works, so I kinda got the idea, but I would like to make sure that I am approaching this correctly.
I want to extend the field type prompt to offer custom types alongside String, int, boolean etc.
This means I need to modify the templates, like templates/src/main/java/package/domain/Entity.java.ejs
My blueprint only had generators/client and generators/entity-client, so I guess I have to:
create generators/entity-server
create index.js
create files.js (can I copy that from here https://github.com/jhipster/generator-jhipster/blob/master/generators/entity-server/files.js ?)
create the templates in entity-server/templates
create generators/entity
copy and modify generators/entity/prompts.js: do I have to just write a new prompts.js, or do I have to copy over everything in generators/entity and only change what I would like to change ?
For the templates, can I copy them from the JHipster repo ?
Should I ? If not, why not and what is the alternative ?
If copying them is the right move, do I have to copy everything ? Or just the ones I want to modify ? (I haven't checked yet if I will need to modify everything)
When JHipster is updated, I suppose either I manually merge the new files, or I risk that slowly my code will differ more and more from the JHipster code ?
Is there a simpler method to achieve what I am trying to do ?
It would be nice if I could just say I want to add TypeX and TypeY to that prompt and provide limited templates that only cover those types, like a template for the import, one for the field, and one for the setter and getter, and if only the import is provided, a generic template is used.
I'll try to answer to all your questions.
First to create Blueprint I suggest to use https://github.com/jhipster/generator-jhipster-blueprint even in another folder and copy all you need for your current project. I think it's easier and you could choose which generator you want to add e.g. entity-server and entity.
Prompts phase
If you want to modify prompt phase you can merge your phase with the JHipster one like that

But by doing this you can't modify existing questions, for this case you should copy all existing questions into your blueprint.
Templates management
Your blueprint is linked with a JHipster version. As I used to say (in my talks) is that you should copy and modify templates from JHipster except for configuration files because it's a bit tricky to handle. For them, I prefer to use JHipster API like 'replaceContent()' or the needle API which allowed you to insert some code into some files (like a dependency in the pom.xml file).
Of course you can use the way you want, but with experiences I prefer to control my templates and merge them when I upgrade the JHipster version.
You should only copy the templates you want to modify, merge JHipster and your writing phase. JHipster use yeoman, which use memfs to handle file generation. Every files are created in memory and dumped at the final step. You can easily override a file without performance compromise.

JHipster upgrade
I suggest you to check templates when upgrading JHipster and apply modifications if needed. Otherwise, you could have bugs. Also, I suggest to set a definitive (like 6.1.0) version of JHipster in your blueprint package.json.
As far I know there is no way to do what you want to do. I'm thinking of a way to modify prompts easily without copying all other questions, if you want to contribute ;).

Botbuilder how to use default locale strings in case namespace hasn't defined it

I am using the botbuilder framework. I have defined several namespaces for the dialogs I have created, such as help or default. For all of these I have also created json files in my locale/en/ directory, and all is well.
However, I have a few sentences that are very common, and I don't feel like copying those over to each of the individual namespaces. I have tried using index.json as a 'fallback' in case the namespace file doesn't define the string. But it doesn't work for me. Contrary to what the documentation seems to suggest.

Say I have the following library in help.js, that :

The library is used in bot.js:

And index.json has this content:

Whereas help.json is empty:

Because help.json does not have custom_cancel, the bot will actually send custom_cancel as the string.
Again. I can copy paste the strings to both locations and there is no more problem. But that seems like an ugly solution to me.
I have tried the more explicit version, which seems to help in more cases, but I am not fully convinced yet.

You can use the third argument for the namespace. It seems that '' will point to the index.json file.

Common php functions in hack

I decided to start a new project to get into hacklang, and after fixing some if the problems I initially ran into transitioning from php habits, I ran into the following errors:
Unbound name: str_replace
Unbound name: empty
Doing some research I found that this is due to using 'legacy' php which isn't typechecked, and will error with //strict.
That's fine and all, empty() was easy enough to replace, however str_replace() is a bit more difficult.
Is there an equivalent function that will work with //strict? Or at least something similar.
I'm aware that I could use //decl but I feel like that defeats the purpose in my case.
Is there at least any way to tell which functions are implemented in hack and which are not in the documentation as I couldn't find one?

You don't need to change your code at all. You just need to tell the Hack tools about all the inbuilt PHP functions.
The easiest way to do this is to download this folder and put it somewhere in your project. I put it in a hhi folder in the base of my project. The files in there tell Hack about all the inbuilt PHP functions.
Most of them don't have type hints, which can lead to Hack thinking the return type of everything is mixed instead of the actual return, that is actually correct in most cases as, for example, str_replace can return either a string or a bool. However, it does stop the "unbound name" errors, which is the main reason for adding them.

Static data in Visual Studio extension

I've got a Visual Studio extension, where much of the functionality is written through MEF. So far, my individual functionality is per ITextBuffer, so I have used the Properties member to cache instances.
However, now I have some functionality that needs to be per-project and per-solution. The EnvDTE classes offer a Properties object but I couldn't figure out whether or not they could store my own arbitrary data. I really don't want to make my own data static.
How can I store per-project and per-solution data without having to resort to global variables?

I might also mention that since you can't use MEF imports for static data, even if you hide it in something like a Singleton, then using the global variable route is physically impossible. So I really, really need something that is not a global.

I'm talking about object references, not persistent values. I don't need to store anything in a solution or project file, only with the object.
I found a way to convince MEF to honour my static imports, so for now, I'm just using some static data.

It was posted somewhere else- maybe even on SO- took me a while to find it though. Note that this has no interface required- reflection is used, so it should be valid for any this.
If I understand your question correctly, you can create a stub class that you do the exports from, instead of trying to force your static classes to export.

You may also consider just making your static class un-static, if that's an option for you. Remember, that by default MEF imports are singletons, so it should be just like having a global set of variables for each project that does the import.
I know this doesn't address the VS Extensions aspect of your problem, but I haven't dealt with those. Maybe this'll give you a path to your solution, though.
