everyone. I want to create a layout for multiple devices. To do this, I select my original layout in Android Studio and thought I could do this using the "Orientation for Preview" icon. Unfortunately I can't find the entry "create other" there. Where can I now create my layout for other devices?
You have to use the device dropdown just on the right ("Pixel"):
Then you can choose an pre-defined device/resolution, or you can create your own device/resolution.

Im learning Android studio now and encounter this problem with Layout Preview. I cant see phone frame.Ok, it's not big deal, but in result I see that the toolbar was not counted in design. For better understanding look at picture Virtual Device and Layout preview comparison. For layout preview and virtual device I picked Nexus 6. Screen sizes should be exactly the same. In the picture you can see the button in the layout preview. But in the virtual device the button is almost completely out of the screen bounds.

After update the android studio I am enable to use material designing. but I can't user any UI element in drag and drop mode. mouse curse shows in halfly cutted black circle
the new version of android studio uses 2 xml files for each layout. One (e.g. content_main.xml) embedded in the other one (Activity_main.xml). you should open the content_*.xml and do the design in it. hope it helps.
In Android Studio, how can I view both the text and design preview of an XML layout side by side.
I could see it by default when I installed Studio, but now that is gone,
and I'm not sure why. I can only see or the other.
How do I re-enable it?
Open your [whatever].xml. At the bottom you'll see Design and Text. Select Text. If you still can't see the actual layout, only xml, then select "Preview" which is located at the right of the window, between Gradle and Maven Projects.
Click on preview while text is selected.
At first, select your desired .xml layout from the Project tab then use Code, Split and Design buttons to switch between the views. (Android Studio 3.6)
Code - Display only XML part
Split- Display XML and design both
Design- Only design part
It appears that in Android 3.6.1, the buttons to select Design, Split, or Code have been placed in the upper right of the XML layout screen.
Select any one from the top right options to change the view of your Code and Design
You can split the tab by right-clicking on the tab and selecting either Split Horizontally or Split Vertically. Then, you can select the Design tab on one and the Text tab on the other.

please help me.
sory if my language english bad.
To my knowledge custom menu and options menu can be modified (adding and removing menu items) easily.
If u want your own custom option menu, you may have to simulate by creating layouts.
1) Creative a layout and inflate the layout and show on clicking on the menu button.
2) If u want to occupy whole screen then better use Images and TextViews and create a new activity and launch the activity on clicking the options menu in OnCreateOptionsMenu().
