Synapse: Integration runtime and Notebooks - azure

I'm trying to load data to a Spark DataFrame from MSSQL/Postgres behind a firewall.
When I use pipelines and datasets I can use a Linked service that connects via an integration runtime.
How to do it with a notebook and dataframe?
Is there a way to use a Linked service as a source/destination (that would be the best, like connecting the Cosmos DB ?
Today I load my data via a pipline, where the source is a Linked service with integration runtime, and the destination is an Azure Data lake gen2 parquet file. After that, I load my data from the parquet files to the Spark DataFrame.

How to access a Redshift DB through VPN to extract data and load into own Azure environment?

pretty new to the Azure environment and so far my search for information wasnt very successful.
Problem is as follows:
we wanna access a redshift DB which you can only connect to if you are conntected to a specific VPN beforehand - this is the main problem
we then wanna build an automated data pipeline which extracts daily updated data from the redshift db and create our own analytics solution from it
how can that be set up in a fully automated workflow and also in the simplest, most efficient way with the tools available on the azure platform?

If VPN is not the challenge and you just need to extract the data from Redshift DB and store it in any Azure Service like Blob Storage or Azure Synapse Analytics, then best possible way is to use Azure Data Factory. Azure Data Factory is a fully managed, serverless data integration service.
You can copy data using Copy activity from Amazon Redshift to any supported sink data store. For a list of data stores that are supported as sources/sinks by the copy activity, see the Supported data stores table.
Specifically, this Amazon Redshift connector supports retrieving data from Redshift using query or built-in Redshift UNLOAD support.
Note: When copying data to an Azure data store, see Azure Data Center IP Ranges for the Compute IP address and SQL ranges used by the Azure data centers.

Moving data from Teradata to Snowflake

Trying to move data from Teradata to Snowflake. Have created a process to run TPT scripts for each table to generate files for each table.
Files are also split to achieve concurrency while running COPY INTO in snowflake.
Need to understand what is the best way to move those Files from On Prem Linux Machine to Azure ADLS. Considering files in Terabyte size.
Does Azure provide any mechanism to move these files or can we directly create files on ADLS from Teradata?
The best approach to load data to snowflake via external table if you have the Azure Blob Storage or ADLS Gen2. Load data to blob storage and create external table and then load data data to snowflake.

How to write into RabbitMQ from Azure databricks?

I am currently learning to use RabbitMQ. I am trying to publish a message to RabbitMQ from Azure Databricks using pyspark. Any idea about how would that be achievable?
Unfortunately, RabbitMQ is not supported as a source in Azure Databricks.

As per my research, I have found a third-party tool named "Panoply" which integrate Databricks and RabbitMQ using Panoply.

Do you have to use Azure Data Factory or can you just Databricks as your ETL tool from your multiple sources?

...Or do i need to add the data into a data lake using data factory first and then use databricks as an ELT?
Depends.
Databricks can connect to datasources and ingest data. However Azure Data Factory(ADF) have more connectors than databricks. So it depends on what you need. If using ADF, you need to land the data somewhere (i.e. Azure storage) so that databricks can pick it up.
Moreover, another main feature of ADF is to orchestrate data movement or activity. Databricks do have Job feature to schedule notebooks or JAR, however it is limited within databricks. If you want to schedule anything outside of databricks (e.g. drop file to SFTP or email on completion or terminate databricks cluster etc...) then ADF is the way to go.
Indeed it depends to the scenario I think. If you have a wide variety of datascources you need to connect to then adf is probably the better option.
If your sources are datafiles (in any format) you could consider using databricks for etl.
I use databricks as a pure etl tool (without adf) by mounting a notebook to a storage container in a blobstorage, take huge xml data from there and write the data to a dataframe in databricks. Then I parse the shape of the dataframe and then writing the data into an azure sql database. Fair to say I’m not really using it for the “e” in etl, as the data has already been extracted from the real source system.
Big advantage is the power you have at your disposal to parse the files.

batch processing in azure

We are planning to do batch processing on a daily basis. We generate 1 GB of CSV files every day and will manually put them into Azure Data Lake Store. I have read the Microsoft Azure documents regarding the batch processing and I have decided to use Spark as to batch processing. My question is that after we transfer the data using RDD/DF what would be the next step? how we can visualize the data? since this process is supposed to be run every day, once the data transformation done using Spark, do we need to push the data to any kind of data store like hive hdfs or cosmos before we could visualize it?
There are several options doing this on Azure. It really depends on your requirements (e.g. number of users, needed visualizations, etc). Examples for doing it:
Running Spark on Azure Databricks, you could use the Notebook capabilities to visualize your data
Use HDInsight with Jupyter or Zeppelin Notebooks
Define Spark tables on Azure Databricks and visualize them with Power BI
Load the data with Azure Data Factory V2 to Azure SQL DB or Azure SQL Data Warehouse and visualize it with Power BI.
For Time-Series-Data you could push the data via Spark to Azure EventHubs (see Example notebook with Eventhubs Sink in the following documentation) and consume it via Azure Time Series Insights. If you have an EventData-Stream this could also replace your batch oriented architecture in the future. Parquet files will be used by Azure Time Series Insights as Long-term Storage (see the following link). For Spark also have a look at Time Series Package which adds some time series capabilities to spark.
