I have a web application currently running in Electron and would like to move it to Wry/Tauri for opening speed.
The application uses window.resizeTo to change the window size in real time.
I have tried using the same command with Wry/Tauri, but it does not work.
Is it possible to intercept such a call and act correctly?
Maybe will be useful for someone other. I figured out that it is possible to use webview.evaluate_script('<js code>') to inject some code in opened page.
Thus it's possible to change the default window.resizeTo functionallity to something I need to, for example for my needs I can do:
window.resizeTo = (w, h) => window.ipc.postMessage(`resize,${w},${h}`);
On the WRY side I can use with_ipc_handler to resize the window as requested.

Chatty is a java application to chat in Twitch (streaming platform) from the desktop.
What I'm trying to accomplish is that Chatty always starts with specifics X, Y, width and height properties.

The X and Y properties work just fine, wherever I move the window if I closed and open it again it appears in my desired position. However for some reason I fail to acknowledge Chatty doesn't care about the width and height properties, it always opens with the last geometry.
Chatty itself have a config file but there isn't anything related to width and height dimensions.
I'm on Arch, and the only WM I have is Awesome.
PD: One weird thing is that every time I'm changing the window size it also moves, always in a bottom right direction. This is annoying but not a problem, I'm mentioning this just in case it is related to the possible issue.
This is probably because they client resize itself after the rules are executed (which would be a bug in your app or Java). In any case, you can do:
client.disconnect_signal("request::geometry", awful.ewmh.client_geometry_requests)
to turn off the client ability to resize themselves.
In AwesomeWM git-master version, you can use the permission API to deny the "client" -> "geometry" -> "ewmh" permission per client.
My Qt 5.9 program (on X11 Linux) launches other applications, using QProcess.
I would like to have control over windows these applications spawn, so I obtain their winId value and use QWindow::fromWinId to get a QWindow instance.
The problem is these instances are invalid and do not represent the window they are supposed to.
If I check the winId values using xwininfo, the correct information is returned, so I know they are good.
What am I doing wrong?
Edit: An example won't help much, but here goes:

... // wait until window appears
WId winId=PidToWid(process->processId()); // this function returns the Window ID in decimal format. I test this with xwininfo, it's always correct

QWindow *appWindow=QWindow::fromWinId(winId);
... And that's basically it. appWindow is a valid QWindow instance, but it does not relate to the actual window in any way. For example, if I close() it, it returns true but the window does not close.
Even if I provide a wrong WId on purpose, the end result is the same.
This is not proper solution with explanation why it should work, however it may be helpful for somebody...
I had the same issue with my application when I switched from Qt4 QX11EmebeddedContainer to Qt5 implementation using QWindow. What I did to resolve / fix this issue was following:
Client application:
widget->show(); //Widget had to be shown
widget->createWinId();
sendWinId(widget->winId()); //Post window handle to master app where is constructed container
Master application:
QWindow* window = QWindow::fromWinId(clientWinId);
window->show(); //This show/hide toggle did trick in combination with show in client app
window->hide();
QWidget* container = QWidget::createWindowContainer(window, parentWindowWidget);
After this I was able to control window properly through QWidget container.
I am running Win10 IoT on a pi 2. I need to be able to take pictures that are focused but cannot get the focus working. The application is a background app so I don't have a way of previewing the camera on a display. Is there any way of doing this? Currently I have

WinRT information: Preview sink not set
when I try to focus. All of the examples I've seen online show that the preview is output to a control and I assume it wires a sink up automagically. Is there a way to do this manually through code? Possibly without the preview?
I wonder if the code may work even without FocusControl.

I didn't find a way to do this. I ended up converting the background app to a UI app with a Page containing a CaptureElement control in order to preview and focus.
Instead of adding a UI, just create a CaptureElement and set the source to the _mediaCapture before calling await _mediaCapture.StartPreviewAsync();
Something like:

I'm trying to make a game (Universal DX11 application) and at some point I need access to image library to allow user to select avatar. But for some reason call of PickSingleFileAsync on picker rises an exception.

Ok, I just decided to call dipatcher's RunAsync to execute this code. But I still have no idea why I cannot open picker inside non-UI thread.
I've embedded an nsIWebBrowser in my application. Because I'm just generating HTML for it on the fly, I'm using OpenStream, AppendToStream, and CloseStream to add content. What I need is to add event listeners for mouse movement over the web browser as well as mouse clicks. I've read documentation and tried lots of different things, but nothing I have tried has worked. For instance, the code below would seem to do the right thing, but it does nothing:
