Shell often exits after sourcing .bashrc file. Caused by infinite loop in Nvm - linux

I have a local Mac (using Zsh) and ssh into a EC2-based linux devbox (using Bash).
When I source ~/.bashrc on my linux computer, my shell often exits. I say "often" because it's inconsistent. I just tried running the same command twice, and the problem only appeared the second time. This problem also happens if I source inside a tmux session, so this isn't an ssh issue. When I add PS4=':${BASH_SOURCE[0]##*/}:$LINENO+'; set -x at the top of the .bashrc file, I just see a stream of ::.bashrc:126+cdnvm /home/jalvarado messages. Based on this output, I think the last successfully-executed command is alias cd='cdnvm'.

Despite this, I have no problem starting a new shell. When I ssh into my devbox or start a new tmux session, I don't see any output. In fact, I no longer see "hello" as part of my echo "hello" command in the .bashrc, which I was using to debug earlier until the echo mysteriously disappeared.
I'm at a loss for how to investigate this. Does anyone have suggestions?
Here are the full contents of my .bashrc file. Almost all of it was programmatically generated (not by me). The only lines I manually added are the pyenv lines at the bottom and the debugging line at the very top.

The problem shown by the xtrace log is the cd inside cdnvm just calling cdnvm again because of the alias cd=cdnvm.
To fix it, change:
cdnvm() {
cd "$#"
to
cdnvm() {
builtin cd "$#";
...forcing the original/built-in copy of cd to be used, bypassing the alias.

It turns out that my linux machine had outdated nvm code. There was an infinite loop issue that NVM fixed last year. I'd recommend taking the most up-to-date version of the code they have.
Their solution was similar to #Charles's: use command cd instead of just cd, which they aliased, creating an infinite loop.

Title of "gnome-terminal" is being overridden by .bashrc in Ubuntu

I need to open around 20 terminals on the same time and execute different command on each one ,and I'd like also to name each window with a different name.

Any idea how to fix this ?
The prompt set in PS1 contains screen control codes which overwrite the window title.
If you don't want the prompt to change your window title, take out the snippet which does that.
Here's a slight edit to let you set no_title_change in the calling shell. This would replace the similar snippet in your current .bashrc; the real change it that we change the variable $TERM to a slightly more complex (and slightly hacky) parameter expansion.

If you unconditionally want to remove the title-changing logic, just replace this snippet with nothing.
The use case of opening a separate terminal window for each in a set of tasks is dubious; a better practice generally is to run your tasks as background processes, each with output to a file. Then you can automate monitoring and logging for the entire scenario, and avoid silly problems like terminating a process by mistake by accidentally closing the wrong terminal window; and managing the processes remotely from multiple locations becomes feasible.

Bash function doesn't work for remote ssh command execution although interactive shell function fine

I define a function in .bash_aliases file and include it in my .bashrc file.
My .bash_aliases file:

It works when I interactively execute the command by typing the command in the bash shell. However, it doesn't work when I tried to execute it remotely. It said dmidecode command not found (I didn't install dmidecode tool but I write a function to point it to somewhere.). The remote connection is good because I can remotely execute commands like "ls" or "pwd". It just doesn't work for the functions that I wrote.
And I tried to put shopt -s expand_aliases in the .bashrc file. It doesn't solve the problem also.

Your title says it all, actually. When you do ssh login#remote 'my command', your shell is NOT interactive, by definition, since you provide a command. However, ~/.bashrc is only sourced by bash when you shell is interactive.
When you execute ssh login#remote 'my command', here is what happens:
your machine connects first to "remote" with user "login"
then sshd, the ssh server running on "remote", executes your shell with the parameters -c 'my command' (i.e. bash -c 'my command' since you are using bash)
since it is called with -c, bash executes directly your command without reading your startup files
The solution? Source your startup file before executing your command:
ssh login#remote 'source ~/.bash_aliases; my command'

Conda command not found after installing anaconda3

After installing Anaconda correctly. l wanted after finishing the installation to do the following. l forget to do it while installing anaconda:

You said that you are adding this to your PATH: PATH="/root/anaconda3/bin" . But when you shared your .bashrc, Anaconda appears to be installed here: /home/ahmed/anaconda3.
If you have multiple installs, delete them. I would suggest that you uninstall, reinstall once to your desired location (/home/ahmed/anaconda3 is most likely preferred to installing into root). You should download the installer from here: https://www.continuum.io/downloads. The installer will provide you with an option to add Anaconda to your PATH automatically, select that option. Restart your terminal and try to run:
conda info

linux cli tab autocomplete broken on ec2 instance

When i made 2 fresh ubuntu x64 instances, one had tab autocomplete working. The other just throws up spaces when tabbing. Also the second instance wont let me use up and down arrow keys to cycle through history.
Does anyone know how to fix this. Goog search did'nt provide much.
Only difference between the two instances is the size of each instance. #1 is a medium, #2 is a small. But both launched with the same image

Ok answering my own question.
For the above particular ubuntu ami while adding users i had to use
sudo adduser instead of useradd
By using adduser, it drops in a .bashrc file . I have not spent the time to go through bashrc to see what entries make the tabbing work. But it does. Here is the .bashrc file if anyone is interested.
