There's a site that has had a bunch of bad links indexed and I've been asked to deal with it. There's one type of link that is giving me a headache:
http://www.example.com/category-display.html&Category_Code=some_cat_code
I tried redirecting to the home page:
Redirect 301 /category-display.html& /
That doesn't work because it adds everything past the & to the url.
In the best of worlds, I'd like to redirect to:
/app/mm.mvc?Category_Code=some_cate_code
So I tried using querystring and RewriteRule/RewriteCond but there's no query string without the ? that I can figure out, so I'm kind of stuck here.
Any ideas?
You can use this rule as your top rule in site root .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^category-display\.html&(.*)$ /app/mm.mvc?$1 [L,NC,NE,R=301]
When customers cancel a transaction on my site, they get redirected to the WooCommerce cart page with a query string containing randomly generated numbers at the end.
Example
https://www.example.com/cart/?woo-paypal-cancel=true&token=EC-5474842406066680S
(I need this redirect due to a plugin conflict between WP Rocket cache with CDN activated and WooCommerce. Long story.)
I'm wondering what exactly I would put in my .htaccess file to get it to redirect to
https://www.example.com/cart/
I've tried a number of variations I found on multiple pages here on Stackpath, but it wasn't redirecting. Obviously I'm missing something so I'm turning to the gurus.
Would be very grateful for your help.
To redirect /cart/?woo-paypal-cancel=true&token=<anything> to /cart/ you can try something like the following near the top of your .htaccess file (using mod_rewrite):
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^woo-paypal-cancel=true&token=
RewriteRule ^cart/$ /cart/? [R,L]
The ? on the end of the RewriteRule substitution strips the query string from the request.
This is a temporary (302) redirect.
I need some help with htaccess redirects. Out site was wrongly crawled by google and as a result there are a lot of wrong urls being shown in webmaster tool. As an example:
articles/abcd/xyz
should be redirected as
articles/abcd/
articles/abcd/xyz.php
should be redirected as
articles/abcd/
articles/abcd/xyz.html
should be redirected as
articles/abcd/
So basically I am trying to mean always redirect to articles/abcd/ for varous wrong url types that i shown above. Please could you help
You can simply use RedirectMatch from mod_alias (documentation). We assume that the part after articles does not contain any / character. We redirect with a temporary redirect to the url without the suffix. Change "temp" to "permanent" after testing that this redirect actually works as you expect it to work.
RedirectMatch temp ^(/articles/[^/]+/).+$ $1
Stupidly, I have sent out a newsletter without checking the links. One of which is broken so I want to handle this with htaccess.
My URL that is being linked to is:
http://www.domain.com.au/www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/ne%20w-zealand/camper-rentals/
where the actual page is:
http://www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/new-zealand/camper-rentals/
Note the space in new zealand as well as the additional www.domain.com.au
How can I set this up in htaccess?
Thanks
Since you don't have to manipulate the URL, you can use a simple Redirect:
Redirect /www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/ne%20w-zealand/camper-rentals/ http://www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/new-zealand/camper-rentals/
Edit If Apache doesn't like the space unquoted as %20, try quoting the whole thing with a real space in there:
Redirect "/www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/ne w-zealand/camper-rentals/" http://www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/new-zealand/camper-rentals/
Edit2 If it's appending a query string, you will need to use mod_rewrite to get rid of the querystring rather than a simple redirect, I'm afraid.
RewriteEngine On
# If the request starts with www.domain.com.au, it is the broken link
# Rewrite to the proper URL and put ? on the end to remove the query string
RewriteRule ^www\.domain\.com\.au http://www.domain.com.au/campers-and-motorhomes/new-zealand/camper-rentals/? [L,R=301]
I am trying to rewrite my url for generating the seo friendly url. My original url is something like
video_play.php?cat=1?author=3?video=4
where
"cat=1" is represents my category and 1 is id of my category name like song, movie etc..
"author=3" 3 is the id of singer.
"video=4" 4 is the id of track being played currently...
I want to make this url some thing like video_play/song/artistname/songtitle.html
I am trying this code in .htaccess if any one can help me.. Thanks in advance...
RewriteRule /author/(.*)/cate/(.*) video_play.php?author=$1&cate=$2
Try this instead:
RewriteRule /author/([^\.]*)/cate/([^\.]*) video_play.php?author=$1&cate=$2
