Why does gitlab icon change shade - gitlab

I have noticed that gitlab has a different shade of icon and I can't figure out what makes the icon change.
The one on the left is the more common logo.
The one on the right is the shade I noticed start to appear several months ago.
What does the lighter shade icon represent?

GitLab.com has, for at least a couple years now, used the yellow tanuki favicon to make it easier to distinguish from the default favicon used in self-managed instances.
You'll also see different favicons used in different portions of the site to help identify tabs quickly.
A couple historical issues will evidence this:
Yellow tanuki being shown outside canary releases (2018)
a 2020 issue related favicons, but with a screenshot showing the yellow tanuki favicon

I believe it has something to do with their new interface.
It's odd -- contrary to what #sytech posted, I've noticed that I sometimes have multiple tabs open to the same GitLab page (e.g. an open MR) and one of them has the orange icon and the other has the yellow one. For example, right now:
Flipping between the two tabs, I see that the one with the yellow icon has the word "next" inserted next to the gitlab logo up at the top-left, whereas the other one doesn't:
Clicking on it lands me on a page where I can flip a toggle to use their new interface. Clicking the toggle instantly changes the favicon:

Toggle Chrome Extension Icon based on light or dark mode browser?

I've tried searching for this, and the closest related question that I could find was from 3+ years ago and had to do with the incognito window being dark, while a normal chrome window was light back then.
Now that we have the ability to have a light or dark mode browser, it's hard to find an icon design and color that looks good for both light and dark modes. Here's an example:
In the image above you can see that the first and third icons are black, so they are hard to see when using dark-mode. The middle icon (the one I'm using for my extension)looks great on dark mode, but terrible on light mode. See below:
So does anyone know if there is there a way to detect the browser mode (light or dark) and swap out the icon?
Thanks to wOxxOm I was able to figure this out.
First, I needed to create a content script (which I called toggleIcon.js) and add it to the manifist.json file.
Then I added the following to toggleIcon.js - which sends scheme: "dark" to my background.js file if window.matchMedia matches prefers-color-scheme: dark.
Then in my background.js file I listen for that message, and if request.scheme == "dark" I use chrome.broserAction.setIcon to change the paths for each of my icons to the dark version.
This effectively overrides my original icon paths as declared in the manifest.json file (as shown below).
The only downside I see is that this requires a content_script, which if you want your extension to work on any page, requires you to also add "matches": ["<all_urls>"] to your extension, which slows down the approval process. Which is why in my comments above I mentioned I had been avoiding using a content_script.
Also, I think it makes sense to use the version of your icons that work best on light-mode as your default, because I think the chrome extension page will pull from these for some of the icons they use (and that page has a white background). As an example, here's how my old icon looked (not enough contrast).
Hopefully this helps someone else!!

What causes different icons to appear on different monitors in Windows 10?

We have customers reporting an issue with icons not appearing correctly in Windows 10. I am not able to reproduce the issue with our application, but it is similar in appearance to something that's happening with other programs on my computer. The first screenshot below is from a single computer. It is my task bar on my left and middle monitors. Notice that the "notepad++" icon on the left (it's the highlighted/active icon) is the original icon with the little chameleon sitting on a pencil (you will have to zoom in) and the one on the right just shows the text "n++".
Similarly the Sql Developer icon (immediately to the right of N++) also looks different on different monitors (demonstrating that even when the app's not running this is an issue).
In fact, as I was writing up this question I found that there is a difference between two means of getting at the icon resources in notepad++.exe. If I use IconsExtract (third party tool) on the exe I get the "n++" style icon, but if I right click on N++ in the task bar > Choose properties > Click "Change Icon" I get the chameleon on a pencil icon. You can see these two overlaid in the second image.
I can't for the life of me figure out how windows decides which icon to put where. I would be satisfied with a response that just told me where the two different n++ icons really are.
What it looks like on my monitors
Comparing the two methods of seeing icons
(Don't be fooled by the second chameleon which does appear to be the same.
I showed this to a coworker today and he knew the answer... the taskbar on the left was my laptop and I have configured the "size of text, apps, and other items" under "scale and layout" in the "display settings" for that screen to 150%. Changing the size to 100% caused the icons to become the same across all taskbars. I'm still looking for a good article with the details as to why, but changing the size definitely fixes the issue.

Materials turns into default black and grey design when loaded

Whenever I try to use a material I downloaded or installed from epic games launcher, I click on the object I want to apply it to, click on the material but what is loaded is the default grey and black box pattern and in the content browser, at the same time I try to load the material, it also changes into the default black and grey box pattern. I've tried this with different materials. The only material that doesn't do this are the ones that came with the blueprint like "M_FGun" or something like that. Please can I have some help with this, I can't use any material for anything. The problem is persistent on both 4.14.3 and 4.15 versions.
It sounds like you've got the materials, but the textures used in those materials have either not imported correctly or somehow the references to them have been broken.
Double-click on the Materials that are malfunctioning and see if there are any errors that show up in the new window.
Compare the materials in your project to the project you downloaded them from. Reselect the textures and it should work again.

Settings type «invisibles» and «shadow» in Sublime Text 3 .tmTheme file

I have read the documentation for the Color Schemes. I realized all settings except invisibles and shadow (+shadowWidth). I can translate from English, but I do not see anywhere where the elements, the color of which changes settings. Does anyone could show me the screenshots, where there are elements which change color? Thanks.
From the unofficial documentation on color schemes, linked to in your question, we can see that invisibles is ignored, so changing it has no effect on the appearance of any elements in ST3. The tmTheme format is borrowed from a different text editor, to make it easier to use the same color scheme in different editors. So maybe it does something in other text editors, but not in ST. EDIT: support for invisibles has been added to ST in build 3149 - https://github.com/SublimeTextIssues/Core/issues/1992.
The effect of the shadow setting can be seen below, it is the pink parts on the far sides:
It is only visible when the text in the document is wider than the window - it will appear on the left when the view can be scrolled to the left and it will appear on the right when the view can be scrolled to the right.
From my testing, including shadowWidth in the tmTheme file will cause the shadow to not appear. I have logged an issue in the unofficial documentation here, maybe someone will update it with details of how to get this working.
Note:
When making changes to atmTheme file, it is often necessary to close all open documents, and restart Sublime Text, before the change will become visible.

Building Nav Bars with rollovers in DreamWeaver CS3

I'm working with Dreamweaver CS3. The question here is what part of the code (listed below) do I need to replicate to have my secondary nav bar utilize the on-click action?
FYI...DW has two menu options or auto insert items...one for roll over images and one for "navbar". DW will only allow you to use the 'navbar' item once per page
the nav bar option builds all the rollover actions for you (listed below)
the "rollover" option ONLY builds normal and over, but no click
I guess I really have two questions...the first is what part of the code do I need to insert manually, the second is what does the "MM_nbGroup" code mean?
"../photogallery.html" target="_top" onClick="MM_nbGroup('down','group1','photoMainNav','../images/buttons/photography_down.gif',1)"
onMouseOver="MM_nbGroup('over','photoMainNav','../images/buttons/photography_over.gif','../images/buttons/photography_over.gif',1)" onMouseOut="MM_nbGroup('out')"><img src="../images/buttons/photography.gif"
Thanks for any help on this in advance!
For anyone wondering the same thing, here's what I've found so far...
The 'insert' bar provided in DWCS3 doesn't allow for two 'inserted' menu bars on one page. However, the 'Behaviors' palette will allow you to add effective roll-overs with the "Set Nav Bar Image" option. Unfortunately (as far as I can tell) DWCS3 is not as smart as Adobe's GoLive was, in that it won't automatically fill in the appropriate items if you name your files correctly. Even still, you should name your images accordingly (xxx_over, xxx_down, etc) to keep it straight in your own head.
As for the MM_nbGroup question, best I can tell this is WYSIWYG code that ships with DWCS3 (the kind of stuff that really mifs some of you developers, sorry guys), as it names items by group # and doesn't seem to have any real relevance in the lexicon of html. I could be mistaken on this however, and am open to enlightenment on the topic if anyone can offer.
