You have to emit events from your server and your client has to subscribe to those same events in order to receive data and updates.

And your server has to then emit the testEvent with some data.

Now since we're firing just a one-off event, the data will only come once. You'd have to emit the same event in order for the clients to receive updates.

But i keep getting disconnected ping timeout or sometimes i get disconnected transport close
I had the same problem.
The problem wasn't caused by the socket_io_client package.
When i update socket.io on my server side, the problem is solved.
Just run npm install socket.io#latest command on your node.js server.
According to the socket_io_client official doc, use this workaround if you are using https server:

I am using socket.io and node.js for a socket connection, I am sending data via API to a socket using below laravel code.
its working perfect after all procedure in a socket.js file which is running in a terminal with node socket.js. I just want a response on the same function where I publish the event, is it possible with this or I need to do something else.
Note: everything is perfect just need a response in the same function where I publish

I have a uWebSockets server as it seems to be a lot more performance friendly than socket.io servers.

You don't have an event listener setup on the server side that does receive and react on the message. Like
ws.on('message', function (msg) {

I have a working socket.io server up and running, and i am trying to implement a server side socket.io client. Below is the code snippet i have been using for testing. The problem with this is that the client outputs the message only once, in this case it receives 'Welcome' only. I have tried sending messages to the private channel, 'message' via browser but it doesn't show any output even though the server can receive and emit the message successfully.

Can you try changing "socket" to "this":

You should emit from client side to server. So server can send the data back to client. I guess this code works fine :-)

Yes you can use any client as long as it is supported by socket.io. No matter whether its node, java, android or swift. All you have to do is install the client package of socket.io.
