How to downgrade Kotlin version - android-studio

I've build a complete empty Project and I got this error:
e: This version (1.0.0-alpha13) of the Compose Compiler requires Kotlin version 1.4.30 but you appear to be using Kotlin version 1.4.32 which is not known to be compatible. Please fix your configuration (or suppressKotlinVersionCompatibilityCheck but don't say I didn't warn you!).
What can I do? (Sorry for this dumb question, but I'm complete new to Kotlin)
Thanks, Boothosh

You can go to Plugins in the IDE settings and uninstall the Kotlin one there, and do Install From Disk (under the gear icon) and use one of these: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/6954-kotlin/versions - you'd probably need to update your gradle files too (I haven't done any of this before so I can't tell you if it works or if you'll run into problems)
Why not just use a newer version of Compose though? They're up to beta 6 now - I can't even see an alpha 13 listed! Seems like a better idea all round, unless there's a really specific reason you need that version you're using?

Android Studio/IntelliJ - Where do I manage the JRE list for unit tests?

I must be missing something terribly obvious here: Since some recent Android Studio update/reinstall (I can't remember) I have to manually set the JRE that should be used - otherwise, an invalid path will be used and the test will fail.
Where do I manage this list? I would like to remove all invalid entries and duplicates.
Currently Intellij Idea does not provide a way to remove the list of JRE Entries. You can try the followings.
First uninstall Intellij Idea editor.
Go to the directory C:\Users\ if you are using windows, remove the folder/s like .IdeaIC. or .IdeaIU.
Reinstall Intellij Idea and select the appropriate JDK version.
OR You can do the following.
As per the above screen shot point to you JDK location.
It will solve the problem.
After following #Sambit's hints and looking around some more I found the solution: The list is stored in (in my case) ~/.AndroidStudio3.4/config/options/jdk.table.xml. There, each list item is represented by a <jdk> element. After removing all the unwanted entries and restarting Android Studio (complete restart, not just close/open project) I now have list that looks much nicer:
I have not tried what happens when you mess up the XML structure so take care!

ndk-gdb tools for NDK r11. where do I find them?

The NDK r11 that was just released.
release notes state: Removed ndk-gdb in favor of ndk-gdb.py
However there doesn't appear to be any gdb tools anywhere in the r11 NDK package. What am I missing. Is this now a separate tool that has to be tied in some how? Was it a gross oversight by the NDK gods? I peaked at my old ndk r10e and there is indeed both ndk-gdb and ndk-gdb.py so I know the python script at least existed there. Are these items I can port over from my R10e version. I know the ndk-gdb script was always breaking on me with some periodic tweaks needed. I've never used the python script so I guess really my question is two fold.
Where do I get/install/configure ndk-gdb.py and how do I use it. Is it vastly different than the old ndk-gdb shell script.
Any insight or help is greatly appreciated.
Update to the latest NDK r11b release, a bug related to ndk-gdb.py was fixed in that version: https://github.com/android-ndk/ndk/issues/3
I'm not totally sure about ndk-gdb vs ndk-gdb.py, but if you look in <NDK>/prebuilt/darwin-x86_64/bin (or replace darwin-x86_64 with your platform's name), you'll find ndk-gdb and some other tools (ndk-depends and ndk-stack). I haven't tried using them myself though, so I don't know if their behaviour has changed compared to r10e.

Netbeans changed after UML installed

I installed and used a UML plugin found here: UML Plugin for Netbeans 7.0?
Afterword, all of my .java code associated with the UML became black and white and un-editable. Although, I can write extra text it cannot be deleted. Running my project results in "Cannot execute - java executable not found".
I deleted the UML files associated with my projects and the code hasn't returned to normal.
Thanks.
Here is a picture:
This actually occurred to all java files.
Unlike Eclipse, different versions of NetBeans are so different that plugins made for younger versions (6) DO NOT work on later versions (8) by default. You can upgrade only subversions steps (digits after dot) without changing plugins. So you have used two pieces of SW that need not be compatible at all. You used a workaround to make to work the installation. And you can get absolutely any consequences, don't be surprised.
The history of the problem: there is no free UML plugin supporting NetBeans NOW. There was one, of Visual Paradigm, for versions to 6. But it's later variants are not free anymore and they are differently organized. If you want to use the modern version of the plugin, prepare to pay. It is very probable, that the free plugin doesn't work on NetBeans 8 by purpose.
You can try a new different plugin http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/49069/plantuml#v2590 of another author. It seems more simple, but at least it won't destroy your IDE. And now you have to save the project, reinstall NetBEans and import the project again.

eclipse xml error

i am programming in eclipse for the first time and when i create a blackberry project i am getting this error in BlackBerry_App_Descriptor.xml as
Description Resource Path Location Type
InvalidRegex: Pattern value '([a-zA-Z_]{1,63}[\s-a-zA-Z_0-9.]{0,63}[;]?)*' is not a valid regular expression. The reported error was: ''-' is an invalid character range. Write '-'.' at column '19'. BlackBerry_App_Descriptor.xml /sample Unknown XML Problem
please help me out
thanks in advance.
I have had the same problem earlier with my first project on BlackBerry using the Eclipse provided on the site.
Though I took a lot of time to get a workaround for this, the solution is surprisingly simple.
Uninstall the JDK 7.x from your Windows system, adjust your path variables to point to another JDK version, preferably 6. There could be other dependencies in your Eclipse environment which need to be set independently to point to the new JDK (try Windows -> Preferences -> Java -> Installed JREs in your Eclipse and voila!)
see? let us know if you still face the problem..
I'm having the same problem as you are. There is a post regarding this issue at http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/InvalidRegex-Pattern-value-a-zA-Z-1-63-a-zA-Z-0-9-0-63-is-not-a/td-p/944343
I haven't been able to solve the problem yet, and I am clueless as to what may be causing it. The answers at the blackberry support forums didn't work for me at all. But do try them out. Best of luck.
The deprecated version of the blackberry development IDE for eclipse (version 1.1 of the pluggin) works fine, but is not available for download anymore.

IntelliJ Groovy version

I'm in the process of upgrading a project to Groovy v1.6. When I installed IntelliJ, my GROOVY_HOME environment variable was pointing to Groovy v1.5.7, but now that I've changed GROOVY_HOME to point to v1.6, it's not clear whether IntelliJ is also using the more recent version.
How can I check which version of Groovy IntelliJ is using?
I believe you want to use the File -> Project Structure menu item. Then look at your Libraries and Facets (expand for Groovy) options.
Use "Add Framework Support":
Right click on your module and choose "Add Framework Support...". There you can add/change the groovy version
http://blogs.jetbrains.com/idea/2009/09/groovy-related-configuration-changes/
Found this old thread looking for a similar thing, but ended up figuring it out myself.
In my case, the project was boostrapped with Gradle. I didn't have a standalone Groovy version installed on my machine.
Open Tools -> Groovy Console..., and type pretty much any command and run it. It showed me the path to Gradle cache, which included Groovy version, near the top of the new window:
.../.gradle/caches/modules-2/files-2.1/org.codehaus.groovy/groovy-all/2.4.12/...
Also check build.gradle as it may have some hints as to which version the project uses.
