Configuring autoconf 2.69 and wget 1.12 fail - cygwin

I try to build Autoconf and Wget on Windows Xp platform through Cygwin, but when I run the configure script for both packages, errors occur of the same bug:

How do you install chrome on Amazon Linux 2?

I've used the popular script by the Intoli folks to install and keep updated Chrome on my Amazon Linux 2 servers, for some 2 years now, and the latest update of Chrome (I think it was .100 or .101) is now saying "segmentation fault" when chrome attempts to run.

I contacted the Intoli folks but haven't heard back, weird that there isn't a nice way to update Chrome on AWS servers -- seems like this would be a thing.

Can't install Node.JS on linux machine

I am struggling to install Node.JS on a linux machine.
When I run brew install node , I get this output

You are right, your compiler is out dated.
Nodesource has a pretty easy setup installer for node js based on your system and architecture which it checks automatically. Using apt/apt-get will usually also update the dependencies (eg gcc,g++):

Autoconf installed but doesn't work (ubuntu)

I'm trying to install GNU automake. When running ./configure I get the following error message in the terminal:

Looking at the config.log I can't figure out where the problem is. My guess it that it's with tex but I'm not sure what program that is even referring to. I installed TexStudio and that didn't resolve it.

As Diego said, if you install autoconf from the repositories it will install the version 2.68. For some reason, you might have the version 2.13 installed.
If it is the case remove the old version and install the default version:
sudo apt-get remove autoconf2.13 && sudo apt-get install autoconf
Autoconf 2.1 is very old and has significantly different semantics from the current version (2.69, called the "2.5 series".)
Ubuntu appears to have separate packages for autoconf 2.1 and 2.6x but I'm not sure how they select across the two.

"configure: error: mcs Not found" during configure mono-addins on CentOS

I'm trying to install MonoDevelop 4 on CentOS 7 as described in this post: Install Mono and Monodevelop on CentOS 5.x/6.x, but when I'm trying to execute
./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr in mono-addins src directory, I get the error:

mcs compiler was installed successfully, and if I execute
mcs --version
it returns
Mono C# compiler version 4.0.3.0
In other examples of autoconf output I see that checking for gmcs returns something like /usr/local/bin/gmcs or /usr/bin/gmcs, but on my system after compiling mono I don't have gmcs at all.
What is the difference between mcs and gmcs, and where can I find second?
mono-gmcs was an interim compiler before moving to mcs. I ran into this problem ("configure: error: No gmcs C# compiler found") while trying to install Bless (a mono/C# hex editor) on Centos 7. Not sure if this is the answer on other distros, but I added a symbolic link with ln -s mcs gmcs, so that the script that is looking for gmcs will find it, but it will redirect to mcs, the current mono C# compiler. Both should be in /usr/local. For Bless, there was also a dependency on "scrollkeeper", which I took care of with a yum install scrollkeeper.
I uses Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS; and it also does not have mcs. I actaully needed it for bless. so I install mcs using
sudo apt install mono-mcs
so now
which mcs
now returns /usr/bin/mcs
For bless to work you also need to install cmake; using
sudo apt inztall cmake gtk-sharp2 nunit-console xsltproc
and follow the instruction in the readme file to install bless; i.e.

ninja -C build
sudo ninja -C build install

Build Vim with lua on Debian 7.8

I'm trying to build it myself since the version in debian apt-get is too old for a plugin I need, and this plugin needs lua.
I did apt-get install libtolua-dev
And am runnning the command
./configure --with-features=huge \
--enable-rubyinterp \
--enable-pythoninterp \
--with-python-config-dir=/usr/lib/python2.7/config \
--enable-perlinterp \
--enable-gui=gtk2 --enable-cscope --prefix=/usr \
--enable-luainterp \
When I run this command, at some point the program will say checking Lua version... (cached) 5.0.3 when I actually have version 5.2 installed. When I run the configure I get:

So I tried to copy all the files from /usr/include/lua5.2 to a new directory /usr/include/lua5.0.3
Then I'll get

checking if link with -L/usr/lib -llua5.0.3 is sane... no
I don't understand how to make it use lua 5.2.
For those who are interested by a manner that worked for me to build vim with lua support and a solid basis to setup spf13 with full Neocomplete support here are the steps followed to do it:
Download the vim sources from git:
git clone https://github.com/vim/vim.git
Setup dependancies (on ArchLinux, adapt according to your distribution):
pacman -Suy ruby perl python2 python lua luajit
Link luajit headers for the compilation:
cd /usr/local/include
sudo ln -sv /usr/include/luajit-2.0/lua.h
sudo ln -sv /usr/include/luajit-2.0/luaconf.h
sudo ln -sv /usr/include/luajit-2.0/lualib.h
sudo ln -sv /usr/include/luajit-2.0/lauxlib.h
Run the following commands to build vim (include lua support as desired):
./configure --with-features=huge --enable-multibyte --enable-rubyinterp --enable-pythoninterp --with-python-config-dir=/usr/lib/python2.7/config --enable-gui=no --without-x enable-cscope --enable-multibyte --enable-fontset --enable-largefile --enable-cscope --enable-perlinterp --enable-luainterp --enable-fail-if-missing --with-lua-prefix=/usr/local/ --with-luajit --prefix=/usr
Compile:
make VIMRUNTIMEDIR=/usr/share/vim/vim80
Install Vim:
sudo make install
Use vim --version command to verify lua support (+lua):
vim --version
And that's it!
You need to include the --with-lua-prefix=<dir> flag when running configure. This flag tells the configure script where lua is installed. (You could also set the LUA_PREFIX environment variable if you do not pass the flag).
I would also recommend running configure with --enable-fail-if-missing so that the configure script will fail instead of quietly warning that it didn't find a lua config directory or executable.
