Using Android Studio version 4.1.1.
Every time when closing Android Studio, the Syncing Settings will pop up and do its job. But that's not what I want, is there a way to disable the auto sync? I am okay to manually sync it.

In Android Studio, is there a way to make the Build tab only pop up when there are warnings or errors, and not when the syncing is successful?
I got this error from my android studio 3.2 when am trying to build my project. Am new to android and i have been trying to set the studio up but i keep getting this error - Could not download gradle.jar (com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.3.2): No cached version available for offline mode
someone should help me out and fix this.
You have not finished setting up your Android studio. Make sure you are connected to the internet then press Try Again or Restart your android or Press the sync again button on the top left corner of android studio. Gradle will be downloaded
It is important to make sure that your android studio is not in offline mode. To do this go o File->Settings the search Offline in the settings search box. Choose gradle and make sure the Offline check box is not Checked.
Yesterday I updated the Android Studio to 2.2 (from 2.1.3). Since that the Android Studio always start gradle sync at startup on every opened projects. I found this question and I tried Mick's suggestion, but unfortunately that did'nt worked for me.
If I open Android Studio, and I wait until load my projects, sync gradle and then I close Android Studio (without any change on my projects), and after that, I open it again, AS also do the same as before (run a gradle sync again senselessly).
I think, this is not a serious problem, but it's pretty weird, because it sync senselessly (otherwise I start gradle sync manually if I need to, but AS start it on every startup senselessly), and I need to wait little more to start coding (a little waste of time and energy).
Maybe this is what you want.
gradle --stop
Everytime an imported project requires a specific version of gradle I don't have, it starts to sync. At this time, I close Android Studio, connect to vpn, and reopen Android Studio to sync gradle; however, sync never ends. Then I go to .gradle/wrapper/dists/gradle-xxx-all and nothing is downloaded (zip.part 0Kb). When I connect to vpn I can access gradle.org and download manually. Is this a bug with Android Studio or gradle?
There are many similar questions and most are solved by manually downloading the zip package. None solve the problem completely, though.
Follow below step to set automatically gradle sync in your android studio.
File -> Settings -> Build,Execution,Deployment ->Build tools -> gradle ->
check Use Default gradle wrapper(recommended) radiobutton.
Also follow below step to restart your android studio for invalid cache restart.
File > Invalidate Caches/Restart (you can also manually remove the cache at ~/Library/Caches/{yourIDEName} and restart the IDE)
Then save settings and rebuild your project.
Edit: See Android 1.5 Gradle Sync never completes to get more idea.
I hope its helps you.
I cannot find a way to prevent Android Studio from automatically loading the last project in use. I want it open me the beggining window with the list of projects available and not loading the last used automatically.
The location of Reopen last project on startup was moved to Settings => Appearance & Behavior => System Settings with new Android Studio, just uncheck it!
In Appearance & Behavior -> System Setting , also you can change some other setting about open or save projects
Android Studio 2.1.1 MacOS X
UPDATE
This screen can accessed in Android Studio 3.1.3 on MacOS High Sierra by selecting the Android Studio -> Preferences menu
Android Studio or Intellij IDEA:
From the menu go to :
File > Settings >Appearence & Behavior > System Settings.
disable the option:
Reopen last project on startup
Open Settings, go to General and remove check from Reopen last project on startup
If the project that is being reopened is causing android studio to stop responding you may not be able to get to the dialog. I got round this by deleting
~/Library/Preferences/AndroidStudio3.3/options/recentProjects.xml
This allowed me to temporarily start android studio without reopening the offending project, and then permanently disable the reopening feature using the dialog others have mentioned
I ran into this problem on MacOS when I added Android Studio Canary and Intellij. I'm not sure which caused the issue.
Anyway, here's the steps that I used to fix it:
Open Android Studio to see what project it opens; write down that project.
It will freeze, so you need to force quit it.
Erase the nodes where that project name exists. For me it was the last <entry> element and the <option> element in the recentProjects.xml file (location below). Make sure you delete the complete element!
Restart and it should work. Otherwise, repeat for the new recently opened project that is freezing Android Studio.
Where is the file?
~Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio4.1/options
It took me digging up the location of Intellij files then back tracking it to Google then Android Studio to find where the file exists. I hope I save someone the time I wasted on this. :D
Extra note:
The <entry> node is in here:
<application>
<component name="RecentProjectsManager">
<option name="additionalInfo">
