How is it possible to install openssh >=v8.2 into MobaXTerm (cygwin environment)?
apt-get install openssh
will return only
- openssh v7.9p1-1
Use Cygwin setup to install it
the last version available of openssh is 8.4p1-2

You can compile and install from its source.

Try npm install n -g and then n latest for downloading it with this version manager.

Note that the Node.js packages for EL 5 (RHEL5 and CentOS 5) depend on the EPEL repository being available. The setup script will check and provide instructions if it is not installed.
Run as root on RHEL, CentOS, CloudLinux or Fedora:
curl -sL https://rpm.nodesource.com/setup | bash -
Then install, as root:
yum install -y nodejs
But be aware that 4.0 is currently not in their rpm distribution
This was my solution and it worked:
Distrubution url: Distr: https://nodejs.org/dist/v4.2.1/node-v4.2.1.tar.gz (v4.2.1 for now)
Unpack the package (tar Jxf node-v4.2.1.tar.xz).
Some package could be too old and will cause problems during installation.
cd to the unpacked file and run ”./configure”. if the warming “C++ compiler too old, need g++ 4.8 or clang++ 3.4” is displayed you need to execute the following commands:
curl http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/scl/slc6-scl.repo > /etc/yum.repos.d/slc6-scl.repo
rpm --import http://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/51/i386/RPM-GPG-KEYs/RPM-GPG-KEY-cern
yum install -y devtoolset-3
And to utilize it without having to set environment variables execute this command:
scl enable devtoolset-3 bash
Now restart the process:
./configure
make
make install
You can try this solution.
First, update software repository to the latest versions:
yum -y update
Intall "Development Tools". It's a group of tools for compiling software from sources.
yum -y groupinstall "Development Tools"
Move to /usr/src directory - the usual place to hold software sources.
cd /usr/src
Now, we pick the latest compressed source archive from Node.js website at http://nodejs.org/download/.

I was just adding tmux plugins to my .tmux.conf file to find out that one of the plugins (tmux-copycat I think) requires tmux 1.9. When I start tmux I get the message `Error: Tmux version unsupported. Please install tmux version 1.9 or greater!".
So, what is the best way to upgrade tmux 1.8 to 1.9 on Ubuntu 14.04?
Update: due to new tmux version and changes in package repository, this answer is updated to show how to install tmux 2.0 (which is better, no reason to use 1.9 anymore).
Here are the steps to update "blank" ubuntu - version 14.04 only (see below for other ubuntu versions):
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y python-software-properties software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:pi-rho/dev
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y tmux=2.0-1~ppa1~t
now if you do tmux -V it should show tmux 2.0 which is a good version for tmux plugins
I verified the above steps on a new digitalocean droplet.
Basically, it's adding the pi-rho/dev repository, updating and then installing tmux from there.
If you have another ubuntu version you might want to install a different tmux version from the same repo. So:
ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) step 5: sudo apt-get install -y tmux=1.9a-1~ppa1~p (installs tmux 1.9, no package for tmux 2.0 yet)
ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) step 5: sudo apt-get install -y tmux=1.9a-1~ppa1~s (installs tmux 1.9, no package for tmux 2.0 yet)
ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) step 5: sudo apt-get install -y tmux=2.0-1~ppa1~u
ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) step 5: sudo apt-get install -y tmux=2.0-1~ppa1~v
If you don't want to add a PPA, you can just build it from source. It's explained in the README on tmux's GitHub page:
To build tmux from a release tarball, do:
$ ./configure && make
$ sudo make install
You might need to install some extra packages to build it. On Ubuntu I needed to install these packages before it would successfully build:
exuberant-ctags
cmake
libevent-dev
libncurses5-dev
Another way to do #3 above (especially if you are using a corporate proxy that might break ppa).

I have tried to install the Xvfb on red-hat 6.5 using
yum -y install xorg-x11-server-Xvfb
but it is not installed and it is giving msg that
No package xorg-x11-server-Xvfb available.
Error: Nothing to do
Plese help me to install Xvfb on Redhat 6.5 to remove the headless exception in the Applet.

The xorg-x11-server-Xvfb package is officially available from RedHat for RHEL 6 and RHEL 7 under the Optional channel (RHEL Workstation Optional, or RHEL Server Optional).
From the comments: To enable the optional repo: subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-server-optional-rpms and then you can install the package with yum install xorg-x11-server-Xvfb
I was able to download the RPM and then install it locally after reading this article
