and it is working fine

Now I want my admin panel to work on example.com/admin-panel
admin-panel build is in this path: vdsta_app/admin-panel/
I tried some code but not working.
Please give some suggestions.
Your existing rule rewrites everything that does not already start with vdsta_app/website/ to vdsta_app/website/<whatever>, so if you need a more specific rewrite then it must go before your existing rule.
For example:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^admin-panel(?:/(.*))?$ /vdsta_app/admin-panel/$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^((?!vdsta_app/(website|admin-panel)/).*)$ /vdsta_app/website/$1 [L,NC]
Also adding the admin-panel to the negative lookahead in the 2nd rule.
If you don't have multiple domains / hostnames then you can remove the condition that checks the Host header. Or move this into its own exception rule.

I am in a situation where an user can create his blog in a subdomain.
Users will create blogs and enter the address he wants like say,
abcd.domain.com Then my php code creates a directory called abcd.
To view the blog user will type in abcd.domain.com in his browser and I want a .htaccess code which will rewrite the url and open the files inside the domain.com/abcd
But for the user the url in the browser should stay abcd.domain.com

But this gives me 404 even though I have a file test.html inside the test folder and trying to view that page.

You can use:

With wild card subdomain:

Note that it takes more than a rewrite rule to have wildcard subdomains. Just fyi.
You need to have created a wildcard DNS record for subdomains and also tell apache to use any subdomain request by having a ServerAlias of *.domain.com in the apache config.
Then try your rule this way and see if it works for you.

Through a little research I came up with an htaccess rewrite rule in my development directory that takes a wildcard subdomain to its matching instance name in my development folder. I will admit I know little to nothing about this so help is really needed. So the current htaccess behaves as such:

the problem I am having is how to approach the following scenerio:
I use virtual domains as an add on component in Joomla so that several domains are being managed by one single Joomla install. So i may have the following subdomains...
client1.mydomain.com
client2.mydomain.com
client3.mydomain.com
that all need to go to
/public_html/development/client1
I guess what i need is a general rule on how to handle all wildcard subdomains, but with exceptions for client1, client2, client3 for example
You can have a separate rules for these 3 subdomains and add an exclusion condition in the older rule:

I'm trying to redirect two kind of urls to a subdomain and all the others to my main domain.
A concrete example :
"my account" pages starting by /my-account/* and subscription page must be redirected to https://my-account.domaim.com. The uri must be kept.
all others like /news or the homepage must be seen on www.domain.com only
Here is what I have tried until now :

Each rules work independently but if i try all of them together i'm stuck in an infinite loop.
Is anyone have an idea how to prevent it ?
The rules look fine, but you have a missing space in your 2nd rule:
RewriteRule ^subscription$ https://my-account.domain.%1/subscription[L,QSA,R=301]
# -----------------------------------------------------------------^
But you can probably combine them into a single rule:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.domain\.(.+)$
RewriteRule ^(subscription|my-account/.*)$ https://my-account.domain.%1/$1 [L,QSA,R=301]
Also make sure you're clearing your cache when you test, as 301 redirects are permanent and the browser will cache them.

The typos was from my copy/paste and the combination works but doesn't change anything to the problem with the other rules. I keep it for later ;)
I tried a reversed rules like this :

It also works but not in combination with the other. it doesn't loop anymore but if i try something like http/www.domain.com/subscription i'm redirected to www.domain.com with the url truncated. It seems that the Rewrite conditions aren't correctly recognized but still can't find why ...

This code works well enough, however there are two problems that I can't seem to fix.
The below scenario seems to happen because there isn't a trailing slash on the requesting URI:
username.domain.com/sub1 => username.domain.com/users/username/sub1
username.domain.com/sub1/ => username.domain.com/sub1/
The users directory can still be accessed directly by using a subdomain:
username.domain.com/users/username/sub1 => Works and shouldn't
I'm at a loss and would really appreciate if anyone has any ideas.

For the problem 2, I think your first protection rule just needs to redirect all subdomains. It's redirecting www, but lets username.domain.com come through as-is.
This will redirect any direct access request to the users path.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.+\.domain\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^users/([a-z0-9\-_\.]+)/?(.*)$ http://$1.domain.com/$2 [QSA,NC,R,L]
I think it can be a little simpler by just looking for any host ending in domain.com (which would even handle no subdomain, just domain.com) (I didn't test this....)

For problem 1, I'm stumped too, sorry. It's acting like the trailing slash is failing the rules, so it falls through as-is. But I would expect it to do as you want it to:
username.domain.com/sub1/ => username.domain.com/users/username/sub1/
Perhaps try the %{REQUEST_URI} tag, instead of trying to capture .*. I don't see the difference, but maybe it'll help.

I have Wildcard Subdomains working perfectly on my server, but would like to optimize the .htaccess code to make it more portable. I'm not sure how to do it.
I would like to replace the specific domain name and extension (DOMAIN and .com in the code below) with a regex match so that when using the wildcard code for other domains it is easy to port. So it should be a drop in replacement for domain.com and domain2.net. Here's the code I use:
# Wildcard Subdomain
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?([^.]+)\.DOMAIN\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %2 !^www$ [NC]

It's a little different than the usual version you see, because I've added the exception for the www. + subdomain condition. It many cases people enter www.sub.domain.com which breaks on the server. So I check for the www. and remove it before redirecting.
