WAS 9 - JSF 2.1 - Icefaces 3.3.0 - jsf

is it possible to use JSF 2.1/Icefaces 3.3.0 implementation with Websphere 9?
In that case, have you any guide/tutorial that can help me?
Thank you in advance!

Although WebSphere 9 provides an EE7 runtime (that is JSF 2.2), JSF 2.1 and ICEfaces 3.3.0 should work. You need to follow IBM's instructions [1] for using a "third-party JSF implementation": provide the JSF 2.1 implementation and its dependencies, as well as ICEfaces, in an isolated shared library. The caveat with this approach is that WebSphere does not support CDI+JSF integration for this scenario.

How to port DeltaSpike #WindowScoped beans to JSF 2.2+?

I am porting some applications from DeltaSpike to JEE 8. I am using Apache MyFaces as JSF 2.3 implementation, and Primefaces 8.0 on top of it.
There are some beans annotated with ´#WindowScoped´ in the legacy code. How to do this with JSF 2.3?
Many thanks in advance!
just use DeltaSpike, there is no "JSF native" alternative yet. It will likely be available in Faces 4.0: https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/faces-api/issues/1509

Does Wildfly 18 Supports Seam 2.3 Applications?

I want to migrate an application from Wildfly 8 to the latest Wildfly 18. The web application uses the following frameworks: hibernate 3, seam 2.2, JSF 1.2, and Richfaces 3.3.3. Since hibernate 3 isn't supported anymore in Wildfly, we need to migrate to hibernate 4 which isn't compatible with Seam 2.2. Thus, we have to migrate to Seam 2.3 and this leads to migrating to JSF 2.3 (Wildfly modules) and to Richfaces 4.
My project is an ear that contains inside it a war folder.
For JSF, I am using the supported module by Wildfly both com.sun.faces.impl and javax.faces.api. I also added jsf-facelets-1.1.15.jar as a jar under web-inf/lib.
For hibernate, I included the following jars in my ear: hibernate-commons-annotations-4.0.5.Final.jar, hibernate-core-4.3.11.Final.jar, and hibernate-entitymanager-4.3.11.Final.jar.
For seam, I included the seam jars: jboss-seam.jar, jboss-seam-debug.jar, ...
For Richfaces, I included the following libraries under the war folder: richfaces-a4j-4.5.17.Final.jar, richfaces-core-4.5.17.Final.jar, and richfaces-rich-4.5.17.Final.jar. I also included their dependencies.
I am still getting this error which I am not able to debug: Unsupported Operation Exception.
Did anyone encountered this issue ? And do you know if Seam 2.3 is still supported by the latest Wildfly especially that on Seam documentation, they gave the project examples on Jboss As 7?
Thank you for your help.
The migration you are trying to achieve will result in a non-supported environment as well.

Seam Moving Forward
As many of you may be aware, there have been a number of changes
within Seam over the past year. Here is a quick highlight of the
changes and how they may affect you and your application.
Seam 2
Seam 2.2 targets JBoss AS 5 and 6 as well as JBoss Enterprise
Application Platform 5 - Java EE 5 based architecture Seam 2.3 targets
Java EE 6 capabilities such as JSF2 and JPA2 on the JBoss Enterprise
Application Platform 6 - Seam 2.3 also supports RichFaces 4 which is
also available for commercial support via Web Framework Kit. If you
are looking for the long-term support with a service level agreement
of Seam 2.2 and/or Seam 2.3 then please contact us at
http://www.redhat.com/contact/sales.html Seam 2.3 is part of Web
Framework Kit, included as part of the JBoss Enterprise Application
Platform subscription .
Seam 2.3 was released in September 2012. This is an update to the Seam
2 code base to make it compatible with Jave EE 6. It runs well on
JBoss AS 7.
Seam 3
Active development of Seam 3 has been halted by Red Hat. Many projects
have moved over to Apache DeltaSpike , and others have been absorbed
into different projects. Please see the below table for information
about where the functionality from each module has gone and how you
can participate.
So no, it does not support WildFly 18 (Java EE 8)
Richfaces is 'dead' (sunset) for 4 years now. https://developer.jboss.org/wiki/RichFacesEnd-Of-LifeQuestionsAnswers
JSF 2.x has facelets built-in, so no need to include them. (Causes problems even)
Wildfly 18 has JPA2 built-in so no need to include hibernate manually (Might cause problems even)
Also read https://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.3.0.Final/reference/en-US/html/migration23.html
Switching to using
PrimeFaces (fully html 5, css3 etc compliant)
JPA2
CDI (with Deltaspike)
OmniFaces
OptimusFaces
is a way better thing to do (Although JSF is 'old' compared to e.t.c. Angular it is still modern when combined with the above technologies and more stable).

Which JAR files are needed to use JSF 2.2 on WebSphere 8.5

I am using WebSphere 8.5 which has a default implementation of JSF 2.0. I would like to use JSF 2.2. I was trying to find out which JAR files should I be getting to have my application use JSF 2.2?
For MyFaces, you'll want myfaces-impl and myfaces-api as well its runtime dependencies commons-beanutils, commons-collections, commons-digester, and commons-logging. For Mojarra, you'll just need jsf-api and jsf-impl.
Whichever implementation you use, make sure to follow the instructions for packaging third-party JSF implementations on WebSphere:
Configuring JavaServer Faces implementation

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.servlet.ServletRegistration when using OmniFaces library on Glassfish v2.1

I'm trying to use the excellent OmniFaces library on a Glassfish v2.1 server.
It works well until I try to use the org.omnifaces.util.Faces class. In this case, I encounter a
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.servlet.ServletRegistration
From what I've gathered, it seems this class appeared with the Servlet 3.0 specification.
Glassfish v2.1 is only Servlet 2.5 compatible but OmniFaces documentation indicates that it only requires Servlet 2.5.
Is there something I'm missing ? Is this a dependency that was accidentally added ?
Full configuration is :
Myfaces 2.1.12
Glassfish v2.1.1 (9.1_02 Patch12)
OmniFaces 1.6
Thank you for your answers.
I've come across this article that explains things a bit more but I'm still confused as to whether or not it should work on Glassfish 2.1.
OmniFaces is indeed supposed to be Servlet 2.5 compatible, but that's not thoroughly tested as the development and showcase environments are Servlet 3.0 based. See also https://github.com/omnifaces/omnifaces/wiki/Java-EE-5-and-6-compatibility, so it may happen that something accidently slipped through. This is one of those things.
As per issue 298, this has been fixed for the current 1.8 snapshot.

JSF Richfaces upgrade

I'm fairly new to JSF and Richfaces.
I'm looking to upgrade our system from JSF 1.1.2 to the latest 2.0. Also looking at upgrading our Richfaces 3.0 to 3.3
Under the lib folder for old projects we currently have the following:
ajax4jsf-1.1.1.1.jar
commons-beanutils-1.7.0.0.jar
commons-collections-3.3.1.0.jar
commons-digester-1.6.0.0.jar
commons-logging-1.1.1.0.jar
jsf-api-1.1.2.0.jar
jsf-facelets-1.1.12.0.jar
jsf-impl-1.1.2.0.jar
jstl-1.1.2.0.jar
richfaces-3.0.1.1.jar
This is what I have added:
richfaces-api-3.3.3.Final (Added)
richfaces-impl-3.3.3.Final (Added)
richfaces-ui-3.3.3.Final (Added)
So what I'm looking for is info on what Jars I can remove and what Jars I'm missing that need to be added.
Thanks
Hmm, before talking about the libs... What's your goal using jsf 2.0 and rf 3.3? I am asking because rf 3.3 does not really make use of jsf 2.0. As the jsf 2.0 roadmap for richfaces says
The goal of JSF 2.0 support in the 3.3.3 release is to run your existing RichFaces 3.3.X applications in a JSF 2.0/EE6 environment with little or no changes.
See this link: jsf 2.0 roadmap for richfaces
OK, back to your libs... I don't remember them by heart, but at least you should change jsf-api and jsf-impl to 2.x versions and drop the old stuff. I would have a look at a rf 3.3 demo project, what is contained there.
You can also just use RichFaces Maven archetype and create a project with everything you need.
