I am using the following entry in .htaccess to add the trailing slash with the condition of !-f, which should add the trailing slash when it is not a valid file:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*[^/])$ /$1/ [L,R]
Now actually I thought this would be it, but I end up getting things like .png/ and .php/ (basically only these two filename extensions, which are bugging me).
Is there a way to check if the ending is .php or .png and then check for a trailing slash - and if it exists - remove it?
Edit: Perhaps it is because of some other rules in .htaccess? I will post the rest here:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^xxx.net [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)|
RewriteRule ^ https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
AddDefaultCharset utf-8
order allow,deny
allow from all
deny from 123.249.24.233
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://example.com/$1 [L,R=301,NC]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /index\.php
RewriteRule ^index\.php https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/ [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^Index\.php$ /index.php [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.(html?|php)\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^index\.(html?|php)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^index\$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
Is there no "direct" way to filter slash from .php and .png endings?

I have a htaccess file for a site to let it's script work . I don't know much about how it works, but I have to remove the trailing slash at the end.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule .* https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]

How can I remove the trailing slash at the end? I've tried to change a few things, but most of the times the script is not working correctly anymore and all the subpages are not working anymore.
You may use these rules in your site root .htaccess to replace your shown code. Note that ordering of these rules is also important and change in ErrorDocument.
ErrorDocument 404 /
RewriteEngine On
# remove www from host names
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule ^ https://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L,NE]
# redirect http to https
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301,NE]
# Unless directory, remove trailing slash
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.+)/+$
RewriteRule ^ %1 [R=301,NE,L]
# strip /index.html
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$
RewriteRule ^index\.html$ / [R=301,NC,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]
I am new to redirects and regex. I have an issue with redirects implemented. Here is the example. I want
http://www.example.com/support redirect to
https://www.example.com/support/
But here is what happens
http://www.example.com/support redirects to
https://www.example.com/support redirects to
https://www.example.com/support/
Below is the htaccess contents for it
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/[0-9]+\..+\.cpaneldcv$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/\.well-known/pki-validation/[A-F0-9]{32}\.txt(?:\ Comodo\ DCV)?$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
# To remove double slash in the middle
RedirectMatch 301 ^/(.*)//(.*)$ https://www.example.com/$1/$2/
# redirect index.php to root
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*/index\.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)/index\.php$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301]
#index to root
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
You can use these rules t avoid multiple redirecects:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/[0-9]+\..+\.cpaneldcv$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/\.well-known/pki-validation/[A-F0-9]{32}\.txt(?:\ Comodo\ DCV)?$
RewriteRule ^ https://www.example.com%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L,NE]
## Adding a trailing slash
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule [^/]$ %{REQUEST_URI}/ [L,R=301,NE]
# To remove double slash anywhere
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s[^?]*//
RewriteRule ^.*$ /$0 [R=302,L,NE]
# redirect index.php to parent
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /index\.php [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*/)index\.php$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1 [L,R=301,NE]
Make sure to use a new browser for testing.

The existing code in the question I posted does below
However, I am looking for a single redirect to the final destination..
Recent update by adding trailing slash results are below
I understand this is not necessarily an EE specific question, but it involves the classic EE removal of index.php from the URL as well as a couple more specific rewrites. It’s also a lazy question, as I’ve tried a few rewrite rule combinations and there are errors… so, what I’m after is (please).
Remove www.
Force https://
Remove index.php
The important note, is that on an (mt) Media Temple server when testing on subdomains such as dev.domain.com the good old multiple redirects problem is kicking in. Ideally there’s a way for one .htaccess file to rule them all. Many thanks in advance.
# Enable Rewrite Engine
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
# Force https
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule ^ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
# Remove the www

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]
#Remove index.php

RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]+/)*index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*)index\.php$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/ [R=301,NS,L,QSA]

What worked for me (excluding the index.php part, only for removing WWW and forcing HTTPS), was this:
# Enable Rewrite Engine
RewriteEngine On
# Remove the www
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.+)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%1/$1 [R=301,L]
# Force https, specify http_host
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^example\.com$
RewriteRule ^ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
#-----the following part is untested, but should work to answer the full quesiton including the index.php part
#Remove index.php
#strip index.php from the URL if that is all that is given
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]+/)*index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*)index\.php$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/ [R=301,NS,L,QSA]
#strip index.php/* from the URL
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[^/]*/index\.php/ [NC]
RewriteRule ^index\.php/(.+) http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L,QSA]

I am using the code in below to redirect index.html and non-www version of URL to www. It also removes *.html extensions from the files. Now, I would like to add a trailing slash at the end of the files across all directories. Following are the examples of what I want to get:
www.mydomain.com.au/contact.html goes to www.mydomain.com.au/contact/
www.mydomain.com.au/contact goes to www.mydomain.com.au/contact/
www.mydomain.com.au/glass-replacement/Brisbane.html goes to
/glass-replacement/Brisbane/
and so forth...
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*\/index\.html\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(.*)index\.html$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{http_host} ^mydomain.com.au$ [nc]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mydomain.com.au/$1 [r=301,nc,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \ /(.+/)?index(\.html)?(\?.*)?\ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.+/)?index(\.html)?$ /%1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STATUS} ^$
RewriteRule ^(.+)\.html$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME}.html -f
RewriteRule [^/]$ %{REQUEST_URI}.html [QSA,L]
Thanks for your help in advance
Try this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*\/index\.html\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(.*)index\.html$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{http_host} ^glassnow.com.au$ [nc]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.glassnow.com.au/$1 [r=301,nc,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \ /(.+/)?index(\.html)?(\?.*)?\ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.+/)?index(\.html)?$ /%1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STATUS} ^$
RewriteRule ^(.+)\.html$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME}.html -f
RewriteRule [^/]$ %{REQUEST_URI}.html [QSA,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)/$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.glassnow.com.au/$1/ [R=301,L]
I would like to remove the '%252F' from my dynamically created URLs.
I have a php-file that creates links with a %2F instead of /.
The links are then represented in the URL-Bar as %252F instead of / which leads to some problems.
What I'm trying to achieve with a .htaccess-file is to redirect all %2F to / or rename all %252F to / since I can't change the php-code creating the links.
This is my .htaccess
RewriteEngine on
Options +SymlinksIfOwnerMatch
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} subdomain.mydomain.com
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.*)/style.css [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.*)/script.js [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.*)/logo.png
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mydomain.com%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,NC,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} !=POST
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]+/)*index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*)index\.php$ http://subdomain.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \ /([^\ \?]*)([^\ \?]*)%2f(\?.*)?\ [NC]
RewriteRule !^/ /%1/%2 [QSA]
RewriteRule ^(/.+)%2f(.*)$ $1/$2 [NC,QSA]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,}\s/+index\.php\?dir=([^\s]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1? [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?dir=/$1 [L]
I can't get it to work, maybe someone else can help me with this.
Thank you very much!
The lines:
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \ /([^\ \?]*)([^\ \?]*)%2f(\?.*)?\ [NC]
RewriteRule !^/ /%1/%2 [QSA]
RewriteRule ^(/.+)%2f(.*)$ $1/$2 [NC,QSA]
Need to have the leading slash removed. URI's sent through rules in htaccess files have the leading slash stripped off:
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \ /([^\ \?]*)([^\ \?]*)%2f(\?.*)?\ [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%1/%2 [QSA]
RewriteRule ^(.+)%2f(.*)$ $1/$2 [NC,QSA,L]
Not sure what the RewriteRule !^/ /%1/%2 [QSA] line is supposed to do, it looks like you're stripping out a trailing slash?
I managed to get rid of the first %252F in the URL and the problem of "stacking" slashes:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} !=POST
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]+/)*index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/)*)index\.php$ http://subdomain.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,}\s/+index\.php\?dir=%2F([^\s]+) [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,}\s/+index\.php\?dir=([^\s]+) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1? [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?dir=/$1 [L]
I still have the problem of having %252F in my URLs though.
