Azure Web app connect to VM service on private network - azure

I've created windows server virtual machine with active directory controller and my web app is communicating with it on public ip successfully (by ldap), but when i try connect to ldap on private ip (virtual network) it does not respond
to my Web app i have set VNet Configuration
my virtual machine network tab:
But it does not work when i try to connect to ldap://10.0.1.4:389
What should i do?
I can't even test my connection between webapp (by tcpping) and vm neither on public and private ip
i couldn't add to my webapp vnet integration on 10.0.1.0/24 because there was written that this subnet is already in use (or sth like that)
what should i type when i do vnet integration?

VNet Integration with Azure web app is required a dedicated unused subnet for the network connection. The subnet should be a subnet where no other resources like Azure VM located.
Your configuration is correct. You could follow these troubleshooting steps to verify if the VNet integration is working well. You can test via port 3389 on Azure VM. In my case, there is not a DC deployed on Azure VM.
However, please note that
There are some things that VNet Integration doesn't support, like:
Mounting a drive.
Active Directory integration.
NetBIOS.
Thus, I suppose Idap does not work with VNet Integration.

i've created second virtual network, and integrated web app with it...
next i have connected my second virtual network to first and... everything works great, ping's are < 1 ms...
that's a bit embarassing that it did not work when both web app and virtual machine were in one virtual network and i don't know why

Azure App Service integrate to accessible only via vnet gateway VPN

Im Trying to Create a web application that can only accessible via vnet or only network connected to vnet VPN.
I setup vnet and create a Gateway that has point-to-site configured.
I setup the Web Service and on the network side i allow the gateway to access the Web.
Then i connect to vpn on my local machine but still not able to access the web app.
what i did wrong?
Please check when you create webapp . Under basic configuration sku and Size is not Standard S1 because its not working on standard S1.
Check its if its Standard S1 then its not working.
Steps to create.
Create Vnet and under vnet go to subnet. create two more sub net, first subnet and second Gateway subnet.
Create App service plan. make sourer not select Standard S1
Create web app.
At this time its access to publicly.
Under left hand side panel select Networking.
Open private endpoint connections.
after approved click go to app service and click on URL. at this time its not accessible to publicly.
Create a VM, under networking section select virtual network those created.
Go to resource and connect to this VM.
Connect and open web application. its run fine on VM.

Azure Linux Container Web App does not resolve name within the vnet using private DNS

vnet is connected to my Web App through which I can communicate with other services and applications. When I specify the internal IP of another application to my application, everything works fine. But now the task has come from the management to remake it to use the internal DNS server and internal DNS names. In Azure vnet, in the DNS servers settings, I specified the IP of my DNS servers. I added 168.63.129.16 - now work. If you connect Windows VM to the network everything works fine. Perhaps something needs to be added to the Dockerfile or Linux Container Web App settings so that integration with vnet and DNS works.
If your web application is integrated with the virtual network, your application would be able to communicate with the applications in the virtual network
After integrating your web application with the virtual network, you need to perform sync network action
Go to Azure portal --> Go to your App Service plan where the web app is hosted --> Under Networking, select Virtual Network Integration --> select Sync Network
Once the sync action is complete, you would be able to communicate with your internal application using the DNS name from your web application

why Extra subnet for VNET integration for app services

Why do we have to create a new subnet or add the app service to an empty subnet in our vnet?
I don't understand the reasoning since I'm trying to use my app service (function app) as a reverse proxy to access the resources in the vnet.
By default, the Azure function is a PaaS as the other Azure Platform-as-a-Services that have inbound and outbound traffic over the Internet. We can host our applications without the need to worry about the maintenance of the servers and their operating systems.
To use Azure Functions to connect to resources in an Azure virtual network, we can use the VNet integration feature. To use this feature, we need to create a subnet in the virtual network for your function app to use. VNet Integration must be configured to use an empty subnet. It doesn't matter that your functions use a different subnet than your VM. The virtual network automatically routes traffic between the two subnets. The extra empty subnet is used to hosting your app instance. To let the app instance outbound traffic work like from a VNet, Azure mounts NICs with assigned private IP addresses in that subnet. With VNet integration, your function app is connected to both the internet and your virtual network.

For an app to access resources in a Virtual Network, it needs to be either part of that network, or use a VPN gateway, which in turn can be used access resources inside the Virtual Network.
App Services provides 2 methods to communicate with resources in the Virtual Network:
Regional VNet Integration
Gateway-Required VNet Integration
With Regional VNet Integration, the infrastructure allocates a private IP interface on the VM that is hosting your Web App. This interface is allocated an IP address from the integrated subnets address prefix. This interface is later used to communicate with the VNet hosted resources. This is in a way similar to how IaaS VM work, however the limitation of this interface is that it can be only used for making outbound connections.
This way, if the ASP is configured to scale out to multiple VM's then each VM is allocated a corresponding private IP interface. However, the allocation of these IP address is limited to the subnets Address prefix. Nancy has already included this in her post. App Services have overlapped recycling so during scale up/maintenance, the App Service Plan may run on twice the number of VM's to ensure minimal downtime. However this also means, that the Integrated Subnet should have sufficient addresses available, so that these allocations can happen.
The IP Address of this interface is exposed via the environment variable WEBSITE_PRIVATE_IP. Here is a screenshot of my Kudu Console
If your site is running on multiple instances, then you can use the Instance menu to toggle through the instances.
With Gateway-required VNet Integration, there is a pre-requisite of provisioning a Virtual Network route-based gateway configured with an SSTP point-to-site VPN. In this case, the VM's hosting the Web App download the VPN package on the respective VM's to setup a VPN, and this is used to connect to the resources in the Virtual Network.
Even here, you can use the WEBSITE_PRIVATE_IP environment variable to see the IP Address used by the VPN client on the App Service VM.

Azure web app request is not going through VNET after inegration

I have created one Web app on Azure portal and its integrated with subnet under specific VNET.
Now, when I am trying to do telnet to one of my organisation's internal relay server IP from my web app its not getting connected. The request is going from web app's APIPA address range not from subnet's address range. I checked the IP as well of the web app using ifconfig and I found out that its taking from APIPA address range not from subnet one.
Any idea what steps do I need to take so that web app will take IP from subnet address range of the VNET not from APIPA address range.

After my validation, when the app service on Linux is integrated with a virtual network. There is an extra NIC binding to the app service. It's IP address from APIPA address range. It looks like a design behavior as the app service on Linux is running in a standard Docker Container, read here. Also, for a normal app service is a multi-tenant environment, you can not get a dedicated IP address unless you are using a dedicated environment---ASE, read here.
Furthermore, from how regional VNet Integration works, you will see the app service integrated with a vNet is not the same as a VM from a VNet.
Regional VNet Integration works by mounting virtual interfaces with
addresses in the delegated subnet. Because the from address is in your
VNet, it can access most things in or through your VNet like a VM in
your VNet would. The networking implementation is different than
running a VM in your VNet. That's why some networking features aren't
yet available for this feature.
In this case, if you wan assign a private IP address for app service, you can use Azure Private Endpoint with web apps(Preview). Read this blog for more details.
Azure Private Endpoint provides private IP address access by using a
network interface controller (NIC) attached to a virtual network
subnet for an Azure web app, allowing access from an on-premise VPN or
ExpressRoute. Implementing an endpoint effectively blocks the public
inbound access. This technology is very similar to an internal App
Service Environment (ASE) but much cheaper.

Connecting Windows Azure to On-Premise Active Directory

I am trying to connect my Windows Azure Virtual machines to my On Premise network. I have established a site to site VPN tunnel, and have created the appropriate subnets and placed a virtual machine in one of the subnets that isn't the gateway subnet.
My on premise test network is 192.168.9.x/24 my Azure Network is 10.4.x.x/16 with a subnet for DMZ - 10.4.2.x/24 and ServerNetwork at 10.4.3.x/24.
I have confirmed that the tunnel is up and running both on the Windows Azure side, as well as on my Cisco ASA 5505.
I want my servers to be able to communicate across the tunnel, however currently they cannot see each other. I am missing something, I tried static routes between the two servers, and have not had any success. Has anyone gotten this to work? If so what did you do on the networking side of the config to make it work?

Windows Azure Virtual Network enables you to create secure site-to-site connectivity, as well as protected private virtual networks in the cloud.
You can specify the address space that will be used for both your virtual network and the virtual network gateway.
Additionally, new name resolution features allow you to connect directly to role instances and virtual machines by hostname.
These features allow you to use Windows Azure as you would a branch office, or as a protected private virtual network in the cloud.
