Can I call NavigationManager in a Blazor service - web

I am trying to create an error page service which, when called, will determine which type of exception has occurred and processes the code properly. If the exception is of type "redirect", it should send the user to a login page (for testing purposes, I'm just using the home "/" page).
I'm trying to use NavigationMangager.NavigateTo("/") but am running into a Null point exception whenever I reach that function call. I've been looking for a solution to this for a while now but everything I see is usage of NavigationManager in .razor files and I'm trying to complete this within a .cs service. Is this not possible currently or am I just doing something wrong? I've included all the relevant code from my file "ErrorProcessingService.cs" below, any help would be appreciated.
using ToDoList.Pages;
using Microsoft.AspNetCore.Components;
namespace ToDoList.ExceptionHandler
{
public class ErrorProcessingService
{
[Inject]
protected NavigationManager NavigationManager {get; set;}
public void processError(ErrorTypes.errorType et)
{
new ErrorTypes();
switch(et)
{
case ErrorTypes.errorType.ignore:
//To Be Implemented
break;
case ErrorTypes.errorType.popup:
//To Be Implemented
break;
case ErrorTypes.errorType.redirect:
NavigationManager.NavigateTo("/");
break;
}
}
}
}

In a service you cannot use [Inject] attribute but inject dependency in constructor:
using ToDoList.Pages;
using Microsoft.AspNetCore.Components;
namespace ToDoList.ExceptionHandler
{
public class ErrorProcessingService
{
public ErrorProcessingService(NavigationManager navigationManager)
{
NavigationManager = navigationManager;
}
protected NavigationManager NavigationManager { get; }
public void processError(ErrorTypes.errorType et)
{
new ErrorTypes();
switch(et)
{
case ErrorTypes.errorType.ignore:
//To Be Implemented
break;
case ErrorTypes.errorType.popup:
//To Be Implemented
break;
case ErrorTypes.errorType.redirect:
NavigationManager.NavigateTo("/");
break;
}
}
}
}

Specific TableController name not working

I have an extremely odd error and wondered if anyone knew the reason for this.
When I create a new DataObject and TableController called Content and ContentController respectively, it doesn't register the tablecontroller and the help documentation it automatically generates has lost its styling.
I can't connect to the controller at all but all other controllers work as expected.
If I just rename it to DataController and that's just the name of the controller, not the dataobject everything works perfectly.
Is ContentController a reserved word of some kind or is this just specifically happening on my machine?
public class DataController : TableController<Content>
{
protected override void Initialize(HttpControllerContext controllerContext)
{
base.Initialize(controllerContext);
MobileContext context = new MobileContext();
DomainManager = new EntityDomainManager<Content>(context, Request, Services);
}
// GET tables/Content
public IQueryable<Content> GetAllContent()
{
return Query();
}
// GET tables/Content/48D68C86-6EA6-4C25-AA33-223FC9A27959
public SingleResult<Content> GetContent(string id)
{
return Lookup(id);
}
// PATCH tables/Content/48D68C86-6EA6-4C25-AA33-223FC9A27959
public Task<Content> PatchContent(string id, Delta<Content> patch)
{
return UpdateAsync(id, patch);
}
// POST tables/Content/48D68C86-6EA6-4C25-AA33-223FC9A27959
public async Task<IHttpActionResult> PostContent(Content item)
{
Content current = await InsertAsync(item);
return CreatedAtRoute("Tables", new { id = current.Id }, current);
}
// DELETE tables/Content/48D68C86-6EA6-4C25-AA33-223FC9A27959
public Task DeleteContent(string id)
{
return DeleteAsync(id);
}
}
An MVC project will create an application directory called Content. This will override your route mapping to the ContentController.
You can get around this if desired through changing RouteMaps and other trickery although probably the simpliest answer is to change the name of the controller...

MVC5/API2 CreateErrorResponse in custom ActionFilterAttribute OnActionExecuting

With MVC4 I was able to create and register a global action filter that would check the model state prior to the action's execution and return the serialized ModelState before any damage could be done.
public override void OnActionExecuting(System.Web.Http.Controllers.HttpActionContext actionContext)
{
if (!actionContext.ModelState.IsValid)
{
actionContext.Request.CreateErrorResponse(HttpStatusCode.BadRequest, actionContext.ModelState);
}
}
However, with MVC5, I am having trouble finding Request and therefore CreateErrorResponse
public override void OnActionExecuting(ActionExecutingContext nActionExecutingContext)
{
if (!nActionExecutingContext.Controller.ViewData.ModelState.IsValid)
{
nActionExecutingContext.Result = // Where is Request.CreateErrorResponse ?
}
}
I realize that I could create a custom response class to assign to Result but I'd rather use what's built-in if CreateErrorResponse is still available.
Any idea where I can find it relative to an ActionExecutingContext in MVC5 / Web API 2?
I know this is an old question but I recently had the same problem and solved it using
public override void OnActionExecuting(ActionExecutingContext context)
{
if (!context.ModelState.IsValid)
{
context.Result = new BadRequestObjectResult(context.ModelState);
}
}

NServiceBus fails to process message: The requested service 'NServiceBus.Impersonation.ExtractIncomingPrincipal' has not been registered

I am receiving an error when using NServiceBus 4.0.3 with NHibernate 3.3.1 when it's trying to process a message
INFO NServiceBus.Unicast.Transport.TransportReceiver [(null)] <(null)> - Failed to process message
Autofac.Core.Registration.ComponentNotRegisteredException: The requested service 'NServiceBus.Impersonation.ExtractIncomingPrincipal' has not been registered. To avoid this exception, either register a component to provide the service, check for service registration using IsRegistered(), or use the ResolveOptional() method to resolve an optional dependency.

I think it's fairly obvious what that I need to implement or register an "ExtractIncomingPrincipal", but I can't seem to find any documentation on how or whether there is a default one that I can use. I wouldn't have figured that I would have had to register any of the NServiceBus-related services as many of them are already being registered in my IoC implementation.
As requested, here is the EndpointConfig and supporting code I have currently:
[EndpointSLA("00:00:30")]
public class EndpointConfig : IConfigureThisEndpoint, AsA_Server, IWantCustomInitialization {
public void Init() {
Configure.With().ObjectBuilderAdapter().UseInMemoryTimeoutPersister().UseInMemoryGatewayPersister().InMemorySagaPersister().InMemorySubscriptionStorage();
}
}
//public class PrincipalExtractor : ExtractIncomingPrincipal {
// public IPrincipal GetPrincipal(TransportMessage message) {
// return Thread.CurrentPrincipal;
// }
//}
public class ObjectBuilderAdapter : IContainer {
readonly IDependencyInjector injector;
public ObjectBuilderAdapter(IDependencyInjectionBuilder dependencyInjectionBuilder) {
injector = dependencyInjectionBuilder.Create(); //This method does all the common service registrations that I am trying to re-use
//injector.RegisterType<ExtractIncomingPrincipal, PrincipalExtractor>();
}
public void Dispose() {
injector.Dispose();
}
public object Build(Type typeToBuild) {
return injector.Resolve(typeToBuild);
}
public IContainer BuildChildContainer() {
return new ObjectBuilderAdapter(new DependencyInjectorBuilder());
}
public IEnumerable<object> BuildAll(Type typeToBuild) {
return injector.ResolveAll(typeToBuild);
}
public void Configure(Type component, DependencyLifecycle dependencyLifecycle) {
injector.RegisterType(component);
}
public void Configure<T>(Func<T> component, DependencyLifecycle dependencyLifecycle) {
injector.RegisterType(component);
}
public void ConfigureProperty(Type component, string property, object value) {
if (injector is AutofacDependencyInjector) {
((AutofacDependencyInjector)injector).ConfigureProperty(component, property, value);
} else {
Debug.WriteLine("Configuring {0} for property {1} but we don't handle this scenario.", component.Name, property);
}
}
public void RegisterSingleton(Type lookupType, object instance) {
injector.RegisterInstance(lookupType, instance);
}
public bool HasComponent(Type componentType) {
return injector.IsRegistered(componentType);
}
public void Release(object instance) { }
}
public static class Extensions {
public static Configure ObjectBuilderAdapter(this Configure config) {
ConfigureCommon.With(config, new ObjectBuilderAdapter(new DependencyInjectorBuilder()));
return config;
}
}
I removed the IWantCustomInitialization (left over from something else I had tried earlier) interface implementation on the class and my service now processes the message. There are errors still (relating to trying to connect to Raven [even though I thought I am using everything in-memory), but it's processing the message.

RemotingException was unhandled "Attempted to call a method declared on type 'System.IFormattable' on an object which exposes 'HES.MyProcess'."

i started to work with .net remoting, read myself through tutorials and explanations, saw now at least three examples on the web and they looked all similar to my code. i can't find the reason for the error I get. (RemotingException was unhandled "Attempted to call a method declared on type 'System.IFormattable' on an object which exposes 'HES.MyProcess'.")
I tried to fix this for six hours now, unsuccessfully looking up the internet, reading through lots of pages...
Maybe you guys can help me out ?
MarshalByRefObject deriving class looks like:
public class MyProcess : MarshalByRefObject, IMyProcess
{
//public System.Diagnostics.Process process {get; set;}
public MyProcess()
{
// TODO: Complete member initialization
// this.process = Process.GetCurrentProcess();
}
public string GetProcessId()
{ Console.WriteLine("I'm on..");
return "test";
// return this.process.Id;
}
}
My interface loooks like this:
interface IMyProcess
{
string GetProcessId();
}
My server looks like this:
namespace HES
{
public class HES_Starter
{
public static void Main(string[] args)
{
// using TCP protocol
TcpChannel channel = new TcpChannel(_port);
//second value is for security settings
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel, false);
Console.WriteLine("HES Server here... on PID: " + Process.GetCurrentProcess().Id);
//Type, objectUri to access the object remotely, mode
RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType(
typeof(HES.MyProcess), "HESProcess",
WellKnownObjectMode.Singleton);
Console.ReadLine();
}
}
}
and finally my client like that:
namespace Service_Provider
{
public class Program
{
public static void Main(string[] args)
{
TcpChannel channel = new TcpChannel();
//second value is for security settings
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel, false);
Console.WriteLine("HES Client here...");
IMyProcess remoteProcess = (IMyProcess)Activator.GetObject(
typeof(IMyProcess), "tcp://localhost:8050/HESProcess");
Console.WriteLine(remoteProcess);
Console.WriteLine(remoteProcess.GetProcessId());
Console.ReadLine();
}
}
}
does anybody have a clue what i'm doing wrong ?
I mean from the exception I can see that the client knows that the object is an remote object in the 'HES' namespace. And in debug I can see that the object
remoteProcess = {System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.__TransparentProxy}
is a proxy...
I don't know what i'm doing wrong here.

beginning NServiceBus and dependancy injection and instances

Im having some problems with NServiceBus, I can get the pubsub example working fine, but now I'm trying to integrate it into a production project and I cant get the thing to work!
My publisher code is exactly the same as the publisher example (I've just imported the project to rule out any other issues) but I then create a void function and call it from my WPF app and I get a "you cant call bus without creating an instance of bus" error
public void RunTest()
{
var eventMessage = new MarketPriceMessage();
eventMessage.Ticker = "IBM";
eventMessage.DataType = "Bid";
eventMessage.Value = (decimal)23.23423;
eventMessage.EventId = Guid.NewGuid();
eventMessage.Time = DateTime.Now; // > 30 ? (DateTime?)DateTime.Now : null;
eventMessage.Duration = TimeSpan.FromSeconds(99999D);
Bus.Publish(eventMessage);
}
Any ideas as to whats going on there and where I'm going wrong?
Following #Adam's comments below this is the code I'm using internally in my WPF App:
public partial class App : Application
{
public IBus bus { get; set; }
protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e)
{
base.OnStartup(e);
NServiceBus.Configure.With()
.Log4Net()
.SpringBuilder()
.XmlSerializer()
.MsmqTransport()
.UnicastBus()
.LoadMessageHandlers()
.CreateBus()
.Start();
}
}
}
and
namespace WpfApplication2
{
class EndpointConfig : IConfigureThisEndpoint, AsA_Publisher { }
}
and
namespace WpfApplication2
{
public class SubscriptionAuthorizer : IAuthorizeSubscriptions
{
public bool AuthorizeSubscribe(string messageType, string clientEndpoint, string clientWindowsIdentity, IDictionary<string, string> headers)
{
return true;
}
public bool AuthorizeUnsubscribe(string messageType, string clientEndpoint, string clientWindowsIdentity, IDictionary<string, string> headers)
{
return true;
}
}
}
App Config
<configuration>
<configSections>
<section name="MsmqTransportConfig" type="NServiceBus.Config.MsmqTransportConfig, NServiceBus.Core"/>
<section name="UnicastBusConfig" type="NServiceBus.Config.UnicastBusConfig, NServiceBus.Core"/>
</configSections>
<MsmqTransportConfig
InputQueue="WpfApplication2InputQueue"
ErrorQueue="error"
NumberOfWorkerThreads="1"
MaxRetries="5"/>
<UnicastBusConfig>
<!--DistributorControlAddress="" DistributorDataAddress="" ForwardReceivedMessagesTo="">-->
<MessageEndpointMappings>
</MessageEndpointMappings>
</UnicastBusConfig>
When I'm stepping through my code I can see that bus is a null object.
I am including the references as normal
I'm not too familiar with WPF, but it looks like there is an Application.Startup event that may work. You need to "manually" configure the bus as shown here in the docs
If you're not using Autofac or some other container, the problem is you skipped the assignment to your bus variable. I normally put this in Global.asax Application_Startup, but this way should work too.
If you are using a container, and you register the class that implements your ServiceContract, you can get away with having a local IBus constructor/property injected when it's instantiated.
public IBus bus { get; set; }
protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e)
{
base.OnStartup(e);
bus = NServiceBus.Configure.With() // keep a reference to the returned bus.
.Log4Net()
.SpringBuilder()
.XmlSerializer()
.MsmqTransport()
.UnicastBus()
.LoadMessageHandlers()
.CreateBus()
.Start();
}
