I know how to connect devices that are in the same network, however, how do I connect two different devices in different networks using sockets. I know that you must open up a port and whatnot, however my question is how do I do this pythonically without manually doing anything?
You can do it the same way as you do it now as long as long as you know the IP address and the port the socket is bound to. You will have to configure your router to do so though.
Unfortunately in order to do that you have to make sure the router and the firewall will allow that package to come through. For example you can access your home router and open the port you wish to communicate and forward the data in that port to a specific machine inside your home network. When data comes to that port your router will forward the data to that computer.
If there is a way to control your router options from python then you can do that just using python. I don't know more details on that though.

I'm making a commandline chat tool similar to IRC, and i've been wanting to include a feature where you are able to scan your local network for rooms. On the server end, I've set up a http endpoint on port 9009 to respond with a peice of JSON data containing the room nickname, whether it is encrypted, and the port to use. However, I have had some difficulty scanning the network from the clientside.
I thought about running a for loop or something to loop through the IP adresses, but different networks can have different IP formats. I also considered nmap, but that would be an extra dependancy to set up, and you still need to provide a router IP.
Not sure if this is for programming only but I will ask anyway. I have an Arris DG1670A router and am trying to setup remote access. I do not have a tab or a section that enables remote access like some routers do. I have tried setting up Virtual Server / Port Forwarding and port triggers which is the closest setting I have seen in my router setting to remote access but when I check if the port I set up is open on canyouseeme.org is shows that the ports are closed.
Can someone provide some direction please.

You have to enable firewall on that model for Port Fordwarding to work.
Default ports are TCP/UDP 3389.
I'm using node js trying to send my web-page to my network, I successfully call localhost:port in my computer using express as server, the webpage loads fine trigger my webcam which I used to streaming in the webpage, and then im working to make a simple app in my phone to directly access my server, so my questions:
1.How do I able to access my server from different devices in the same wireless-network? by calling ip + port ?192.168.1.104:9001 ? cause i've tried and it didnt work.
2.I've found https with .pem something like that, is that the answer ? is there also any other way ?
3.maybe any advice before i work to make my web-app to devices? using koa? i don't even really know what is that, but i'm happily take any advices.

All you need to do is find your server's IP address in this same wireless-network, and find the Node.js application's port. Then access the following URL in other devices:
http://{server_IP}:{port}
However, there are some points need to check:
Need to check firewall and confirm the port is not blocked, server IP is not blocked by test device, and test device IP is not blocked by server.
Need to check whether there is any Proxy setting in server and test device. If there is any, disable the proxy.
A computer may have many IP addresses at the same time, you need to find the correct one in the same wireless-network. For example, If you install a virtual machine software such as VMware and run a virtual system inside, your real computer will get IP address as 192.168.*.* -- this IP address looks like an intranet IP in wireless-network, but it is not, and can never be accessed by test device.

No, HTTPS has nothing to do with this problem. HTTPS just add security (based on HTTP layer), it does not impact any HTTP connectivity. Actually, to minify the problem, it is better to only use HTTP in your scenario.
There is only one very special case that may bring your problem by HTTPS -- the test machine is configured and will block any non-HTTPS connection for security.

My suggestion is: As there is an HTTP connectivity issue, the first step is trying to find the root cause of that issue. Thus, it is better to make a simplest HTTP server using native Node.js, no Koa, no Express. In this way, the complexity of server will be reduced, which makes root cause investigation easier.
After the HTTP connectivity issue is fixed, you can pick up Koa or Express or any other mature Node.js web framework to help the web-app work.

Do you mean your server get dynamic IP address by DHCP? As long as the IP is not blocked by test device, it does not matter.
I'm currently working on a project where I use a raspberry pi as a server for a home automation server. It works fine on my local network but if I want to use it from an external computer I need to forward the used port on my router.
I'm trying to find a way to make http(s) gets to the server without having to forward the port on the router. I want this because if I would install the system at someone's place (a customer maybe in the future) I don't want to have to access their router.
I've tried using SSL and https but I ran into the same problem.
Is there any way this is possible or is it a lost case?
PS I can't use port 80 since it is already in use.

There are two ways to get to the result you want:
Port forwarding, which you've dismissed
Giving the raspberry pi it's own public IP address (which requires a public IP address and access to the router to configure the traffic routing, which you've dismissed).
So let's go back to port forwards.
Most consumer routers these days support NAT traversal via uPNP.
You can use the nat-pmp module to reqest the the router forward a port for you, without having to have direct access to the router.
Every time I use a different router and different P2P program, I get the same problem - port forwarding. I then usually read random values of ports(TCP, UDP, whatever) and paste it into random places in my router setttings page and repeat this process until the damn thing starts working. As I am a bit tired of doing that i would like to understand the theory behind it a little bit, so that I can put the right things in right places immediately. Could anybody just explain it briefly to me in a few words? Apologies for lengthy description of the problem, but I didn't know how to describe the level of understanding that I am talking about in a more concise way.

Well, the router hides you from the outer world, so you can only make outgoing connections, for which router takes care of sending your requests to the outer world, receiving responses, and sending those back to you. No one can send a packet to you unless you have specifically asked for it—i.e. you can only receive responses.
In case on p2p, the ability to send packets to your machine is important if not vital. So what you do is ask router to forward (here! that's where the word comes from) all incoming packets to port X to your machine, port X.
Originally IP addresses were provided per device, now-a-days we tend to have 1 IP address per household (unless your doing something crazy), also called your external IP. Your external IP is your connection to the world via your router, but each computer within your network has it's own IP (called internal IP). Port forwarding allows the external world to establish communications with a specific computer.
A web server is a simple example, web services typically rely on port 80, what-if in your network you had 4 computers, 1 of which was your web server. How would the outside world know which PC to contact? Port Forwarding allows you to tell your router to direct internet traffic to that server.
