How to create checkbox in Excel

I was looking for a way to insert checkboxes in Excel cells as a Data Validation criteria. In the Excel settings for Data Validation, we only have Any value, Whole Number, Decimal, List, Date, Time, Text Length and Custom. In Google Sheets, we have Checkbox as one of them.
Right click on the top tabs/ribbons
Click Customize the Ribbon..
Check the Developer box on the right side
Click OK
Click the now visible Developer Tab
Click Insert Icon (Looks like a gray briefcase)
Click the Checkbox
Click the spot on the sheet where you want the checkbox

Bug in Excel? Shows a blank region although cells are not empty

I have a page with some 300 rows, and they are all populated with formulas and values.
When I scroll downwards all is well but suddenly there is a blanc region. However, if I click some cell in that region, a small region appears with all its values. Then I click again and some more cells appear but I simply cannot see the whole page. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround? Thank you!
Select the range where you would like to delete the format. Than click the Home tab, in the Editing group (right on Microsoft Excel), click the arrow next to the Clear button, and click clear format.

How to filter by cell color?

Some of my managers have access to Office 2010 or later. I know in the newer Office there is the option to filter by cell color. But on my floor we only have Office 2003. I am wondering is there a way I can filter by the fill of the cell?
The way I am doing it right now is create another column, putting an "x" manually on the highlighted rows. And then filter it with the "x". Is there a easier way to do this? (They have hundreds of rows like that). I am using Window XP with Excel 2003.
Install ASAP utilities http://www.asap-utilities.com/
Click on ASAP Utilities tab
Choose "Select" with the big mouse pointer over it
Choose "Select cells based on content, formatting and more...
go to the tab "Based on formatting and more"
Select "cell color" and choose the example cell which contains your color
Choose your cell range and choose entire row
click ok
This will allow you to select all the rows. Color the entire rows which are now selected. Find an empty column and use find/replace to find the color just added and replace it with an 'x'. Now you can filter in this new column for x, which is just like filtering on the original columns color. This is better so you don't have to add a new character to the existing column which might contain data.

Title "not centered" when the report is being run using excel 2007

I'm working on an existing cognos report where a user specifically asked me to make changes. When the user runs the report, they run it in excel. When the user downloads the report to excel the title isn't centered. This threw me off because when viewing my report in Cognos Report Studio, the title is centered. What is the cause of this and is there a fix? They seek this change so they don't have to manually make the changes in excel before putting it to their use.
EDIT:
Report studio:
Excel:
When I run the report in HTML or PDF the title is perfectly in the middle, only excel renders it off.
IBM Cognos has limitations when producing reports in Microsoft Excel format.
One work around for this problem is to use include the report title text in a table cell in the Page header block. Given below are the steps.
Insert a table of 1 column and 1 row (i.e. 1 table cell) in the Page header block.
Add "Text Item" in the table cell.
Give appropriate report title in that text item.
Select the table cell; In the 'Font & Text' properties, specify the horizontal alignment property to be 'Center'.
Run the report in Excel 2007 format.
This also works for Excel 2002 format.
You can find some of the limitations for Excel format here:

Instead of having title texts (6 rows) in 2 different table structures, you can move all the 6 rows of title in the same table.
Please refer to the screen shot.
That way, when the report is run in Excel format, you can get all the title rows in one column and aligned to the center.
Take a list object..
unlock the report.
add list header. (note not the page header..)
select the list header and select split cells.
Place a text item in the first list header cell.
Select all the list header cells and select merge cells.
Now, you can format the merge cells with center and bold.
This will ensure the total number or columns and the list header cells are same.
Run the report and export to excel. This method work in any version of cognos.

Go to Page Layout, then next to the Gridlines tab is Headings. Click on the expanding arrow right below that. From within there, go to Header/Footer. Uncheck the boxes that say, "Scale with document" and "Align with page margins". Problem solved.
