I need to calculate the time difference and display the same on Kibana between two events from the log mentioned below, I have a unique identifier and message to identify.
2019-12-20 13:00:22.493 [http-nio-8080-exec-2933] INFO c.g.i.g.m.c.GRInternalController.getGRForPO(68) - Request Started
2019-12-20 13:00:30.882 [http-nio-8080-exec-2933] INFO c.g.i.g.m.s.i.GoodsReceiptServiceImpl.getGRForPO(1647) - Request Completed
2019-12-20 13:01:02.570 [http-nio-8080-exec-2940] INFO c.g.i.g.m.c.GRInternalController.getGRForPO(68) - Request Started
2019-12-20 13:01:09.930 [http-nio-8080-exec-2940] INFO c.g.i.g.m.s.i.GoodsReceiptServiceImpl.getGRForPO(1647) - Request Completed
Unique identifiers of the event: [http-nio-8080-exec-2933], [http-nio-8080-exec-2940]
Time diff of [http-nio-8080-exec-2933] : 8.389
Time diff of [http-nio-8080-exec-2940] : 7.36
Can someone please suggest the solution to figure it out? Thanks in advance.
we can use ruby filter on logstash to achieve this:
ruby {
code => "duration =
(DateTime.parse(event.get('time1')).to_time.to_f*1000-DateTime.parse(event.get('time2')).to_time.to_f*1000) rescue nil;
event.set('timedifference', duration); "
}
The time difference will be in milliseconds.

I'm inserting data into elasticsearch (Index A) every minute for the healthcheck of some endpoints. I want to read the index A every minute for the last events it received and if the state changes of any endpoint (from healthy to unhealthy or unhealthy to healthy) then insert that event into Index B.
How would I achieve that and if possible can someone provide a sample code please. I tried elasticsearch filter plugin but couldn't get the desired result.

Hi I have a syslog made up of two events
Jul 6 13:24:27 NODE1 zeus.eventd[14176]: pools/POOL nodes/IP:3000 nodefail Node NODE2 has failed - A monitor has detected a failure
Jul 6 13:24:34 NODE1 zeus.eventd[14176]: pools/POOL nodes/IP:3000 nodeworking Node NODE2 is working again
I would like to pull NODE2 from the syslog and add it as a field in the index along with nodefail/nodeworking
Currently my input/grok is
syslog {
grok_pattern => "%{SYSLOGLINE}"
}
with no filter however all of the info I need is populated in a "message" field so I am unable to use it in elastic
I know the position what I want in the syslog line I just need to pull it out and add it as a field
Is anyone able show me the input/filter config I need in order to achieve this?
Thanks,
TheCube
Edit: The message fields look like this:
zeus.eventd 14176 - - SERIOUS pools/POOL nodes/IP:3000 nodefail Node NODENAME has failed - A monitor has detected a failure
zeus.eventd 14176 - - INFO pools/POOL nodes/IP:3000 nodeworking Node NODENAME is working again
You can use the dissect filter plugin on the message field created while parsing with %{SYSLOGLINE}:
dissect {
mapping => {
"message" => "%{} %{} %{status} %{} %{node_name} %{}"
}
}
Or a second grok filter, applied on the message field created while parsing with %{SYSLOGLINE}, with this pattern:
^pools/POOL nodes/IP:\d+ %{WORD:status} Node %{WORD:node_name}
In both cases, with the logs given in your question, you get those results:
"status":"nodefail"
"node_name":"NODE2"
"status":"nodeworking"
"node_name":"OFSVDBM101"
I have below 2 queries
Is there a specific key in logstash API response which can identify that a pipeline (incremental) completed successfully? I checked this where the Pipeline stats give an event response ...in, filtered, out... but did not find anything which can clearly say that a pipeline completed successfully.
In logstash logs for a particular run I get below result, what does (seconds) denote here?
[2018-07-14T01:00:05,117][INFO ][logstash.inputs.jdbc ] (4.753178s) SELECT a.*,....

I received automated email error from Netsuite.

My question, is there any details log in Netsuite that I can access and view more about this error. It's an UNEXPECTED_ERROR but I need to know more details about it.
There's a chance that the script was coded with some logging statements. You can check by going to:
Customization > Scripting > Script Execution Logs
And then filter by that script (Invoice Pingback). You might be able to figure out what caused this. From the looks of it the script was trying to make an HTTP call and something went wrong.
Execution log might not show every details, create a saved search for "Server Script Log" define your criteria accordingly - it will yield more data than execution log.
I'm trying to parse my application logs using logstash filters. The log file contents are like below
17 May 2016 11:45:53,391 [tomcat-http--10] INFO com.visa.vrm.aop.aspects.LoggingAspect - RTaBzeTuarf |macBook|com.visa.vrm.admin.controller.OrgController|getOrgs|1006
I'm trying to create a dashboard (line chart) using logstash and want to show the activities on it. For e.g request comes in from some server with correlation id and have to see which class it calls with corresponding method and how long it took to execute.
The message is like:
correlation id | server-name | class name | method name | time taken
log file e.g
RTaBzeTuarf |macBook|com.visa.vrm.admin.controller.OrgController|getOrgs|1006
I'm unable to create grok patterns/filters for above message. Can someone advise me on this?
Try that:
(?<timestamp>%{MONTHDAY} %{MONTH} %{YEAR} %{HOUR}:%{MINUTE}:%{SECOND}) \[%{NOTSPACE:thread}\] %{LOGLEVEL:loglevel} (?<logger>[A-Za-z0-9$_.]+) - %{GREEDYDATA:correlationId}\|%{GREEDYDATA:servername}\|%{GREEDYDATA:className}\|%{GREEDYDATA:methodName}\|%{NUMBER:time}$
