Firstly I am not 100% certain my Question title is accurate being that I am very new to NPM/Node/React/VSCode.
I am following a tutorial and am at a step where I created a React app using the command:
PS C:\Users\me\Desktop\Programming\Net Core> npx create-react-app client-app --use-npm --typescript
Which appears to have successfully installed the app in:
C:\Users\me\Desktop\Programming\Net Core . "Net Core" being the name of the project.
However when I try to run the following in the terminal I get an error that the react-scripts.js module cannot be found:
PS C:\Users\me\Desktop\Programming\Net Core\client-app> npm start
Error: Cannot find module 'C:\Users\me\Desktop\Programming\react-scripts\bin\react-scripts.js'
The fact that it is looking for 'react-scripts" in the Programming folder makes no sense to me.
I am using Visual Studio Code version 1.38
NPM version 6.11.3
Node.js version 10.11.0
Try to run npm install in the directory before you run npm start.

I recently switched to Ubuntu, whenever I create react app it's giving me this note, and the app it's creating is a class component.
ankit#gram:~/Documents/Development/React/react-project$ npx create-react-app my-app
Creating a new React app in /home/ankit/Documents/Development/React/react-project/my-app.
Installing packages. This might take a couple of minutes.
Installing react, react-dom, and react-scripts...
added 987 packages in 39s
22 packages are looking for funding
run `npm fund` for details
Success! Created my-app at /home/ankit/Documents/Development/React/react-project/my-app
Inside that directory, you can run several commands:
npm start
Starts the development server.
npm run build
Bundles the app into static files for production.
npm test
Starts the test runner.
npm run eject
Removes this tool and copies build dependencies, configuration files
and scripts into the app directory. If you do this, you can’t go back!
We suggest that you begin by typing:
cd my-app
npm start
Happy hacking!
Note: the project was bootstrapped with an old unsupported version of tools.
Please update to Node >=14 and npm >=6 to get supported tools in new projects.
my node version: v16.14.0
my npm version:8.3.1
I think this was because npx was not installed in my system, when I created a react app by this command create-react-app the app created was fine. I also installed npx using this command npm install -g npx and created a react app and everything was fine. before this make sure you have installed create-react-app in your system if not then install it by using this command
sudo npm install -g create-react-app
I am a new programmer had this issue not long ago I just solved it.
Use sudo apt install nodejs
It will automatically install version 10 for you which doesn't accept React.
Then you try to install NVM package, use it to update your node to a newer version.
You can check me on GitHub bari racha Wuye
I was having the same problem after I had just installed Ubuntu 22.04.
The fix for me was updating node and npm by following these instructions free code camp update node and npm
Specifically, I followed the instructions under the heading "1. Use NPM to Update Your Node Version", to update node and ignored the 2nd and 3rd headings, then followed the instructions under the last heading to update npm
afterwards I restarted my computer, opened the project directory and ran the command
npm i create-react-app#latest
then I ran
npx create-react-app projectname
and it worked as expected
I'm trying to run the new Strapi version 4 application. But it returns this error.
Is there any bug in new strapi v4? or I'm doing wrong anything?
I'm using strapi official guide to start a new project
installation command npx create-strapi-app#latest molla-admin.
NodeJS v16
Windows 11
Error
ModuleNotFoundError: Module not found: Error: Can't resolve '#strapi/design-system/themes' in 'C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\molla-admin\.cache\admin\src'
at C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\molla-<anonymous>:10:1)
You might be thinking #strapi/design-system package is missing right? After that, I also tried to install both #strapi/design-system and #strapi/design-system/themes npm package
Still, it doesn't work. It returns a new error
ModuleNotFoundError: Module not found: Error: Can't resolve '#strapi/icons/CarretDown' in 'C:\Users\Admin\Documents\testing\strapi-v4-app\node_modules\#strapi\helper-plugin\build'
Should I go on for the next missing Module?
For me the issue was solved by installing #strapi/design-system (Node: v14.15.5, npm: 8.1.3)
npm install #strapi/design-system
Node version : 14.18.1
Npm version : 6.14.15
OS : Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Steps I followed:
(I read somewhere that the latest version of node isnt working and
someone mentioned using the 14.18.1 version)
Downgraded NPM to use the 14.18.1 version and not the latest.
npm run build on the strapi project. This gave an error that its
missing #strapi/design-system.
npm install #strapi/design-system, you get another error that its missing #strapi/icons
npm install #strapi/icons . After this step there was an error relating to JSX scritps something to do with reactjs. So, in the next step , I updated Reactjs
npm install --save react#latest
npm run build again and this time SUCCESS!!
The strapi team should mention the issues on their homepage rather that making new users go through hoops to get it working. They need to make it clear that you can run into issues when using certain version of Node etc. As someone mentioned that they are aware of the issue yet no information in the homepage where new users visit to try it out. It should've been placed as a BANNER at the top in BOLD TEXT.
It's a known bug and they are working on a fix.
You have to use yarn in the mean time.
I can confirm that this bug is related to using Node v16. To get around the bug, I first ran:
nvm use 14.18.1
Afterwards, running the following resulted in successful compilation:
npm run build -- --clean
No need to attempt installation of #strapi/design-system.
I got this error because I was using Node v16. There was a message somewhere in my troubleshooting that you have to use A Node version >=10.X.X.X and <=14.X.X.X
I used NVM(Node Version Manager) to switch to 14.17.6 and it works
following solution worked for me:
yarn add #strapi/design-system
yarn add #strapi/icons
work on windows and ubuntu
node v14.15.0
yarn 1.22.17
npm 6.14.8
npm install #strapi/design-system
solution worked for me.
node 16.13.1
npm 8.1.4
macOS 12.0.1 on M1Max
Whenever I try to create a react app, the CMD always outputs the error below NPX: command not found. I looked at previous GitHub and Stack Overflow questions that were same as mine, however removing and then adding NPX again doesn't work. I also uninstalled node.js and then reinstalled it but that didn't work either! Below is the error and my node version:

Run npm i npm to install node package manager if it was not included in your installation. To make sure the installation was a success run npm -v in the command line.
I'm completely new to React Native and I'm following Facebook's tutorial at https://facebook.github.io/react-native/docs/getting-started using React Native CLI.
Yesterday, I've created a project successfully. Today, when I create an empty folder and run react-native init AnotherProject I get:
error Couldn't find package "#jest/environment#^24.5.0" required by "#jest/reporters#^24.5.0" on the "npm" registry.
What am I doing wrong? I'm on npm 6.7.0 and node 11.12.0.
Weird. I've ran the exact same command again, and it worked.
I'm trying to get started with react native, so I followed the "get started guide". I installed create-react-native-app without a problem, but when I try to create a project, here is what I get :
npm ERR! Unexpected token ▼ in JSON at position 0 while parsing near '▼ >♥??
Mo?6►???...'
I'm using :
node version : 6.11.4 npm version : 5.5.1
Also I'm working behind a proxy, but I configure npm to work, for instance I could run create-react-app .
As I can see you are using npm version v5+ which according to official react-native documentation buggy and not supported. If you want to use npm only then use the 4.6.1 version.
Additionally you could use Yarn to use this command
