Change the content of "Highlighted Content" webpart in Sharepoint via buttons? - sharepoint

I want to use buttons on my Sharepoint page to change the content of the "Highlighted Content". This could be "Most Recent", "Expired", "Approved". When a button is clicked, I want the query that "Highlighted Content" to change. Is there a way to do this?

I could not find a way to do this. The best approach I found was using Powerapps (connected to the Sharepoint site) and then embedding it into a Sharepoint page. You can achieve something similar that way.

Adding HTML controls to SharePonint 2010 quick launch

We are migrating Lotus Notes application to SharePoint 2010. There are around 200 views on navigation pane of Lotus Notes. In order to provide similar kind of look and feel on SharePoint I am thinking to add dropdown on quick launch of my site.
Is it possible to add HTML controls like dropdown and add a functionality to navigate to respective view? Or else what could be the better solution for this case?
Thanks,
Pratima
You can use the ASP.NET placeholders available in the masterpage to host a control or WebPart beside the Quick Launch. The actual QuickLauch is generally customized by JavaScript unless you want to replace it with a completely new class.

How to add a webpart to a listview in sharepoint 2010?

I have to add a "Content Editor" web part to a list view. The "Content Editor" is required to implement some java script and a html textbox.
The problem is that after adding the web part to the list view the dropdown to switch your current view gets lost. It doesnt matter where you add the web part or if you try it with the designer or IE.
Do you have any ideas on how to solve this? Or is there another way to implement java script into a listview without adding a new web part?
This is the dropdown I mean:
Its a known issue with SharePoint 2010.
You can modify the page using SharePoint Designer to put it back.

My company has also produced a free add-on that will do this for a whole site.

What do you mean by "Open a custom webpart" ?
If you want to make some operations on webparts, you can use the splimitedwebpartmanager
you need to follw this step to open the custom web part on page:
(1) create seperate page for each custom web part.
(2) add web part on the page.
(3) set url to related web part page.
hope this help.

Easiest way to change the URL for the banner logo on many subsites in sharepoint 2010?

A client has created a site collection with many (hundreds) of subsites. The logo in on each subsite takes them to the subsites welcome page but what the client wants is to link to the very top site welcome page in the site collection. How is this done in the easiest way (instead of having to change manually on each site)? Powershell?
Thanks in advance.
You can change the link in the masterpage to accomplish this.
Open the masterpage in e.g. SharePoint Designer in Split mode. Select the logo and adjust the control SPLinkButton. The NavigateUrl value is default "~site". Change this to "~sitecollection". Save, check in and approve the masterpage.

Insert Link/Picture "From SharePoint" grayed out in the ribbon

In the ribbon, I want to insert a picture or a link into a content page, but the "From Sharepoint" button is grayed out and I can only upload an image or insert a link "From Address". My field is rich text. I'm using SharePoint 2010.
How can I make the link available?
Thanks
Do not muck with the ribbon to make this work!
Totally depends on how you want to use it.
First of all, the Publishing feature must be active on Site Collection level and on the site where you want to add your rich content.
Then, if you activate the Wiki Home page feature you will have the SharePoint option availabe on the page.
If you want to use it in a custom list, it gets a bit more complicated.
The normal Rich Text field greys out the SharePoint option. And you can not add the Full HTML with publishing field directly to a custom list. So the solution is to create a new site column based on the Full HTML field. And then add that site column to the custom list. This field is part of the publishing infrastructure. So only available on SharePoint Server 2010
Unless you have the "SharePoint Server Publishing feature" under "Site Settings" -> "Site Features" activated, these options are not made available to you.
Usually ribbon button is grayed out if you didn't add CommandUIHandler element for it in your CustomAction XML.
