Some time ago i wanted to my website forwards from http:// to https://
I edited .htaccess file with some code, but it did'nt work and I deleted .htaccess.
Now, without .htaccess file, it redirects automatically to /public_html/ folder. Please help, Thanks.
Create .htaccess file with sample rewrites and check if it works
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

I want to cancel an .htaccess rewrite that redirects people from mysite.com to mysite.com/blog.
I previously wanted to bypass the main page and send users straight to a subdirectory, so I added a rewrite. Now I want people to be able to access mysite.com, but still be able to reach mysite.com/blog (but only when they follow a link to mysite.com/blog, not by default). I'm a beginner to .htaccess, so I appreciate the patience and help.
Here's what was in my .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?dreamybeast.design$
RewriteRule ^(/)?$ blog [L]
I thought that just commenting out my rewrite code in the .htaccess file would stop the site from redirecting mysite.com to mysite.com/blog, but I'm still not able to land on mysite.com at all.
I also tried deleting the .htaccess file (there was nothing else in it) and I still can't land on the root url.
--- edit ---
There's an .htaccess file in the blog subfolder (which contains a Wordpress install) with the following code in it:
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /blog/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress
Is it possible that this is what's causing the redirect, not the .htaccess file in the root?
I am trying to remove the index.php from the url in codeigniter. Rewrite mod scripts are all over the place but I can't find the .htaccess file!! I tried looking in the root directory and everywhere else, but no luck.
From what I read it should be in application folder and when I go there i find the .htaccess file and all it has is deny from all. This is not the same content every one else is sharing online before modification.
Please advise.
Actually you don't find it; you create it along side with your index.php file with this contents:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|robots\.txt)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
In the above example, any HTTP request other than those for index.php,
images, and robots.txt is treated as a request for your index.php
file.
Reference.
The solution is as follows ( for future references)
Create the .htaccess file in the root of the codeigniter application (where you got system, application, etc folders).
Paste this code in it:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond $1 !^(index.php|resources|robots.txt)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L,QSA]
Open config.php and change index = "index.php" to "". Things should work now.
I have a directory structure like below.
public_html/
/abc/
/xyz/
/pqr/
there is a index.php in each these directories, abc,xyz,pqr.
now whenever is there any request like domain.com/abc/def/ghi should be rewritten to domain.com/abc/index.php/def/ghi
domain.com/xyz/def/ghi => domain.com/xyz/index.php/def/ghi
domain.com/pqr/def/ghi => domain.com/pqr/index.php/def/ghi
What should be the .htaccess file and where it should be placed?
I have .htaccess file in each directory(abc,xyz,pqr) like below, but it is not working. it is showing 404 page not found. Please guide me to handle all these rewrite conditions.
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
But this is not working... If this is right .htaccess then please tell me if there is any other server side problem. I am setting up this on CentOs server.
You will probably need a RewriteBase /abc to deal with the subfolders.
I had problem with my directory access, I was needed to update the access for content directory(domain.com) in apache config file(httpd.conf)
I am using URL Rewriting in .htaccess file my problem is this in root folder I have index.php file and I am redirect to en/home/ folder but redirection is not working when I use this .htaccess code.
RewriteRule ^([^/]*+)$ en/peoples/globalCardDetail.php?p=$1
Rewriting is working fine like this http://www.domain.com/atiq ur rehman. But when I access my domain http://www.domain.com this is redirecting to this page en/peoples/globalCardDetail.php.
You need to change your regular expression from ^([^/]*+)$ to ^([^/]+)$.
Also, you may want to add some conditions:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ en/peoples/globalCardDetail.php?p=$1 [L]
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /homepage/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /homepage/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
That is my .htaccess code. I have created new file in homepage/test.php and when i visit it from browser it give error of access,
i have tried by replacing index.php with test.php but it still not working.
Can some one explain me how this code work and why not my code is working.
i have deleted .htaccess but its still not working. What else file it can be.
Change
RewriteRule . /homepage/index.php [L]
to:
RewriteRule (.+) /homepage/index.php?page=$1 [L]
P.S. For this to work, your index.php needs to listen for $_GET['page'] and load the appropriate resource.
EDIT: without using the "?page=$1" your code will just display the index page for all requests that are not files or directories. I am not sure if that is what your were going for.
