I'm setting up a new machine and installing sdkman on Cygwin to install Java. I had this exact setup working on my previous machine, also Win 10.
Installed Cygwin, and required for sdkman, installed zip and unzip packages. Now I'm getting the following error:
$ sdk i java 11.0.3-zulu
Downloading: java 11.0.3-zulu
In progress...
Warning: Failed to create the file
Warning: /home/whyph/.sdkman/tmp/D2txrZkztdcZKSIltTtxclUhHkzF9yIf.bin: No such
Warning: file or directory
curl: (23) Failed writing body (0 != 14095)
mv: cannot stat '/home/whyph/.sdkman/tmp/D2txrZkztdcZKSIltTtxclUhHkzF9yIf.bin': No such file or directory
Tried disabling Windows firewall and running Cygwin as administrator, neither changed the error. Worked out of the box on my last machine, but can't figure out what might be different.
I discovered the problem - wrong curl. Turns out, Windows 10 now comes with curl and it's on your path. I assumed it was one of the base packages of Cygwin, but it is not, and the Windows version is not compatible with SDKMAN, even though it worked to install it. Fix:
Remove SDKMAN per https://sdkman.io/install Uninstallation section
Close Cygwin shells
Rerun Cygwin setup and insure the curl, zip, unzip, and tar packages
are installed (check installation instructions in case more
dependencies are added since this writing)
Install SDKMAN per instructions
Recently I had the very same problem, and the reason was very simple... I forgot to install cURL on my Cygwin. Hope it helps!
I had the same problem recently and I manage to make it work somehow.
In the sdkman source file, I modified the .sdkman/src/sdkman-install.sh line 150.
I replaced the "--output" of the line below by a classic redirection ">".
After I just restarted cygwin and the command finally worked.
__sdkman_secure_curl_download "${download_url}" --output "${binary_input}"
Hope that helps !

I can't get this package to install. I've tried outside of cygwin, and get this error:
http://pastebin.com/tcEsFXVT
I've tried inside cygwin, and get this error:
http://pastebin.com/LHGDnnDb
I tried downloading the latest config.guess and config.sub, putting them into the plugins local repository (.tar.gz), and installing from it:
http://pastebin.com/txbW9G9t
I even tried doing the same with only config.guess:
http://pastebin.com/yVQhgyKs
Based on Reid Barton's suggestion, I tried converting config.guess and config.sub to Unix line-endings (totally forgot about that issue, so thanks!). This produced a fifth error (replacing only config.guess did not change the error):

Can anyone provide instructions for how to install this bear?
I'm trying to compile a Go app for linux/arm and keep running into problems on my Ubuntu machine. When I run GOOS=linux GOARCH=arm go build in my source directory, I get tons of erorrs that are variations of:
# github.com/huin/mqtt
gccgo: error: unrecognized command line option `-marm`
Running gccgo --help informs me that options starting with -g, -f -m (and others) will be passed on to any sub-processes started by gccgo, so I don't know which process it's sending -marm to.
Any clues? Ubuntu 14.10 LTS, 64bit
So thanks to a clue by Dean, I've worked out the issue and solved it.
The issue was caused by me installing Go via apt-get, then removing it (via apt-get), then installing Go from the golang website. There were still files left over from the first install, which were probably older versions and therefore didn't have support for the -marm flag.
I was going to wipe my dev machine anyway, so I did, installed Ubuntu again, installed Go from the website (not via apt-get) and everything worked first time. If you don't want to wipe your machine, then just make sure to look around to see if there are version conflicts.
I've been stung by this sort of thing before (when installing node.js via apt-get, realising it was many versions out of date, then removing, and installing node.js via source), so if anyone is reading this, be careful when installing software via apt-get, then upgrading, as you might have similar version issues like I did!
I am attempting to download an older version of Cygwin (1.7.16) in order to compile an open source project (Dummynet - windows port).
The only way i found of doing so is by using a project known as Cygwin Time Machine.
In order to use this i downloaded the cygwin 1.7 installer from 'ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/setup/1.7/setup-1.7.exe', and when prompted for a download site, added 'ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/circa/2012/08/20/222043'. However, the download fails with the following error :
Unable to get setup-2.ini from
ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/circa/2012/08/20/222043
Im looking for help in getting past this error, or any other alternative way of installing Cywgin 1.7.16 (Aug 20, 2012).
The Admin at Cygwin Time Machine was kind enough to point me to the solution. The issue can be resolved by downloading the cygwin setup exe from cygwin.com/setup-x86.exe and starting it with the -X option. Once started, one may choose any cygwin 1.7.* snapshot url from the cygwin time machine site and add that as the mirror to download and install cygwin from.
How does one install web2py on Windows XP using cygwin? I've just installed cygwin and downloaded web2py in cygwin using
curl -O http://www.web2py.com/examples/static/web2py_src.zip
but when I try to unzip it using
unzip web2py_src.zip
it doesn't work (returns the error: -bash: unzip: command not found)
What do I do?
I was actually trying to open web2py from cygwin command prompt. Instead I used Windows CMD (after a day's crash course on it) and have been able to open web2py from the WCMD. I simply cd'd to the directory web2py was (I moved it from Downloads to drive C), then ran the -S projectname command, and voila, my project has been created and I'm able to work from the WCMD.Please I may be asking more questions as my journey progresses. Thanks to Regexident for your swift attempt to help!
This might be more of a CYGWIN question than a Nodejs but here goes.
I installed Cygwin yesterday and on the packages selection I just clicked next as it looked like most were pre-selected, and then today read this guide http://boxysystems.com/index.php/step-by-step-instructions-to-install-nodejs-on-windows/ on installing nodejs.
The ./configure had an error that it was unable to remap python lib-dynload/itertools.dll to same address as parent. As the process still completed I tried the make command, but it fails on the same error.
So, I opened cygwin setup.exe and this time I clicked the source checkbox for all the Python packages. But still get the same error. Should I now go to Cygwin and check all the source packages for the Make packages, delete it and reinstall from scratch using the above guide. Or something else?
Any help gratefull received/
Use the official 0.5.x windows build from http://nodejs.org/#download - you just have to download a .exe file and you can start it.
Versions 0.5.X have problems with Cygwin and because of developing clean Windows version Cygwin environment is now unsupported. Stable version 0.4.12 builds on Cygwin with no problems. If you want to use node.js unstable 0.5.X branch on Windows use windows build at official node.js site.
check this out:
https://github.com/joyent/node/wiki/Building-node.js-on-Cygwin-(Windows)
Update Sept 1, 2011 -- as of today, v0.5.5 does not build on Cygwin (errors on make). Use v.0.5.4 (ie. follow instructions below and use "git checkout v0.5.4".
https://github.com/joyent/node/wiki/API-changes-between-v0.4-and-v0.6
Cygwin build is no longer supported. Use native windows builds instead.
