VBA. To see which Column A entries do not appear in Column B - excel

I am trying to write VBA code to determine which entries in column A do not appear in column B, and then print these entries.
Sub Checker()
Dim endrow As Integer
endrow = 8
For i = 2 To endrow
Next i
End Sub
I think the next step is to use an if statement with the worksheet function match, to first take the "345A" and compare it with each entry in Column B in turn. But haven't any success implementing.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A slow but thorough way:
Sub compareColumns()
Dim r As Range
Dim s As Range
Dim firstCol As Range
Dim secCol As Range
Dim match As Boolean
Set firstCol = Range("A1:A8")
Set secCol = Range("B1:B8")
For Each r In firstCol
match = False
For Each s In secCol
If r.Value = s.Value Then
match = True
Exit For
End If
Next s
Debug.Print r.Address & "has a match = " & match
Next r
End Sub

Option Explicit
Sub Test()
Dim LR As Long, i As Long
LR = 8
For i = 2 To LR
If WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Range("A" & i), Range("B:B")) = 0 Then
Debug.Print Range("A" & i)
End If
Next i
End Sub

Highlight if 2 different values in a cell

would anyone be able to help?
I am trying to write VBA to highlight if the cell has 2 different values. It seems to highlight all including the same name appear twice. Thanks for any help!
Sub CountTwoOrMoreDifferent()
Dim myRange As Long
myRange = Cells(Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
Range("A2:A" & myRange).Select
For Each AnimalName In Selection
AnimalNameMoreThan2 = AnimalName.Value
If InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Cat") + _
InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Dog") + _
InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Cow") _
+ InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Chicken") + _
InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Snake") + _
InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Tums") + _
InStr(AnimalNameMoreThan2, "Drop") > 1 Then
AnimalName.Interior.Color = vbRed
End If
Next AnimalName
End Sub
Data in column A
Sample Data
You can use this code.
It is split into two parts
a sub - which does the check per cell.
a function that checks if there is a duplicate within an array.
It returns true in case there is at least one dup.
Public Sub highlightDuplicateValues()
'get Range to check
Dim lastRow As Long, rgToCheck As Range
With ActiveSheet
lastRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
Set rgToCheck = .Range("A2:A" & lastRow) 'no need to select!
End With
Dim c As Range, arrValuesInCell As Variant
Dim i As Long
For Each c In rgToCheck.Cells
'get an array of values/animals in cell
arrValuesInCell = Split(c.Value, ";")
'now check for each value if it has a dup - if yes color red and exit check
For i = LBound(arrValuesInCell) To UBound(arrValuesInCell)
If hasDupInArray(arrValuesInCell, i) = True Then
c.Interior.Color = vbRed
Exit For
End If
Next
Next
End Sub
Private Function hasDupInArray(arrValues As Variant, checkI As Long) As Boolean
'only values after the checkI-value are checked.
'Assumption: previous values have been checked beforehand
Dim varValueToCheck As Variant
varValueToCheck = arrValues(checkI)
Dim i As Long
For i = checkI + 1 To UBound(arrValues)
If arrValues(i) = varValueToCheck Then
hasDupInArray = True
Exit For
End If
Next
End Function

Output Range same as input range

I have some history working with VBA, but can't seem to find the solution to this problem. I found an iteration process to select a cell, do a process, and then select the next cell and do the process again, until NULL. I am having a problem outputting each of the processes solutions into the next column. Here is what I have:
Sub Name ()
Dim X As Integer
Dim MyString as String
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
NumRows = Range("D2", Range("D2").End(xlDown)).Rows.Count
Range("D2").Select
For X = 1 To NumRows
MyString = ActiveCell.Value
MyString = Right(MyString, Len(MyString)-6)
Range("I2 to I#").Value = MyString
ActiveCell.Offset(1,0).Select
Next X
End Sub
Range("I2 to I#").Value = MyString is the line that I need help with. I need it to increment to I3, I4, I5, etc. until it reaches NumRows count.
When working with Cells the best way to loop through them is For Each Cell in Range so taking this and as comments told you to avoid selecting, this should help you:
Option Explicit
Sub Name()
Dim C As Range, MyRange As Range
Dim LastRow As Long
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
With ThisWorkbook.Sheets("MySheet") 'Change MySheet for your working sheet name
LastRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "D").End(xlUp).Row 'last row on column D
Set MyRange = .Range("D2:D" & LastRow) 'declare your working range
For Each C In MyRange
If Not C = vbNullString Then .Cells(C.Row, "I") = Right(C, Len(C) - 6)
Next C
End With
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
Another solution is Do Until. You could use this method if you dont have empty cells in the middle of your data.
Option Explicit
Sub Test()
Dim StartingPoint As Long
StartingPoint = 2 'Set the line to begin
With ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet1") 'Set the worksheet
Do Until .Cells(StartingPoint, "D").Value = "" 'Repeat the process until you find empty cell
.Cells(StartingPoint, "I").Value = Right(.Cells(StartingPoint, "D").Value, Len(.Cells(StartingPoint, "D").Value) - 6)
StartingPoint = StartingPoint + 1
Loop
End With
End Sub

how to define my 3rd visible cell as variable in column B

I would like to define the variable of the 3rd visible cell in my filtered column B.
The position of my 3rd visible cell can change according to the value selected in my filter.
In my example, the 3rd cell is B16, but it is not always this value. If I manage to define the variable of my 3rd visible cell in column B, I would be able to change B16 in my VBA code by this variable.
Sub jfdjdgfjg()
Dim LastRow As Long
LastRow = ActiveSheet.Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
ActiveCell.Formula = "= SUM(B16:B" & LastRow & ")" 'Sum until lastrow
End Sub
This is one method
Option Explicit
Sub thirdviscell()
Dim LRow As Long, i As Long, counter As Long
Dim thirdcell As Range
With ThisWorkbook.Sheets(1)
LRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
For i = 2 To LRow 'assuming a header row not to be counted
If .Rows(i).EntireRow.Hidden = False Then counter = counter + 1
If counter = 3 Then
Set thirdcell = .Cells(i, "B")
Exit For
End If
Next i
End With
MsgBox "The third visible cell's address is " & thirdcell.Address(0,0), vbInformation
End Sub
You can loop over the visible cells and count them like this:
Option Explicit
Private Sub Example()
MsgBox GetFilteredRowNumber(ActiveSheet.Range("B:B"), 3)
End Sub
Private Function GetFilteredRowNumber(ByRef r As Range, ByRef num As Long) As Long
Dim aCell As Range, i As Long
GetFilteredRowNumber = 0
For Each aCell In Intersect(r.Parent.UsedRange, r.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible)).Cells
i = i + 1
If i = num Then
GetFilteredRowNumber = aCell.Row
Exit For
End If
Next aCell
End Function

Excel VBA find match and return alternating values

I am having trouble trying to include something into a macro I am building. I need it to search through column C
for cells that say "start trans" and in one column over (d)- the first value will be equal to zero, next instance should be 100, next instance 0 next instance 100 so on until the end of the data.
Instances are not always every 4th line and I have other zeros that I want it to overlook.
Thank you for any help!
How about this one:
Sub GoGoGo()
Dim l As Long: Dim i As Long
Dim b As Boolean
With ActiveSheet
l = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "C").End(xlUp).Row
For i = 5 To l
If .Cells(i, "C").Value2 = "start trans" Then .Cells(i, "D").Value2 = b * -100: b = Not b
Next i
End With
End Sub
Try this.
Sub test()
Dim rngDB As Range, rng As Range
Dim n As Long, Result As Integer
Set rngDB = Range("c5", Range("c" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp))
For Each rng In rngDB
If rng = "start trans" Then
n = n + 1
If n Mod 2 Then
Result = 0
Else
Result = 100
End If
rng.Offset(0, 1) = Result
End If
Next rng
End Sub

How to delete rows in Excel based on certain values

I have a workbook with 10 sheets. Each sheet has about 30,000 rows with URL. I have a hand full of URLs (about 10 different URLs) that I need to keep the data. Is there a way to delete all the rows from all the worksheet if the first column (Column A - URL) does not contain one of the URL.
for example, I would like to keep we.abc.us, ss.boli.us and 3m.mark.us and delete rest of the rows from all the worksheet in the workbook.
Sub delete0rows()
Dim Worksheet As Excel.Worksheet
Dim lastRow As Long
Dim i As Integer
For Each Worksheet In Application.ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
lastRow = Worksheet.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
i = 1
Do While i <= lastRow
If Worksheet.Range("A" & i).Value = 0 Then
Worksheet.Rows(i).Delete i = i - 1
lastRow = lastRow - 1
End
i = i + 1
Loop
Next Worksheet
End Sub
I suggest you introduce reverse For loop using Step -1:
Sub delete0rows()
Dim Worksheet As Excel.Worksheet
Dim lastRow As Long
Dim i As Integer
For Each Worksheet In Application.ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
lastRow = Worksheet.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
For i = lastRow To 1 Step -1
If Worksheet.Range("A" & i).Value = 0 Then
Worksheet.Rows(i).EntireRow.Delete
End If
Next i
Next Worksheet
End Sub
I found this sub a while back. I cannot remember who the original author was or I would credit them. I did tweak it slightly to pass variables into it
The nice thing about this is you can pass multiple deletion criteria by passing a space separated string
Essentially you can give it a row to start at (in case you have headers) tell it the column to look in, the sheet that column is on and your criteria/criterion. So for example if I want it to start at row 5 checking each row below that on a sheet named 'cleanup' checking column 'D' for the words 'cat' 'dog' and 'fish' I would write
Call DelRow(5,"D","cleanup","cat dog fish")
Public Sub DelRow(DataStartRow As Long, SearchColumn As String, SheetName As String, myTextString As String)
' This macro will delete an entire row based on the presence of a predefined word or set of words.
'If that word or set of words is 'found in a cell, in a specified column, the entire row will be 'deleted
'Note the seperator is a space. To change this modify the split parameter
'EXAMPLE CALL: Call DelRow(1, "AH", "Cut Data", "DEL")
Dim X As Long
Dim Z As Long
Dim LastRow As Long
Dim FoundRowToDelete As Boolean
Dim OriginalCalculationMode As Integer
Dim RowsToDelete As Range
Dim SearchItems() As String
SearchItems = Split(myTextString)
On Error GoTo ResetCalcs
OriginalCalculationMode = Application.Calculation
Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
With Worksheets(SheetName)
LastRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, SearchColumn).End(xlUp).Row
Application.StatusBar = "**** Working on the '" & SheetName & "' Sheet: Number of Rows to be scanned(" & LastRow & "). Deletion keyword " & myTextString & " ***" 'Extra line added
For X = LastRow To DataStartRow Step -1
FoundRowToDelete = False
For Z = 0 To UBound(SearchItems)
If InStr(.Cells(X, SearchColumn).Value, SearchItems(Z)) Then
FoundRowToDelete = True
Exit For
End If
Next
If FoundRowToDelete Then
If RowsToDelete Is Nothing Then
Set RowsToDelete = .Cells(X, SearchColumn)
Else
Set RowsToDelete = Union(RowsToDelete, .Cells(X, SearchColumn))
End If
If RowsToDelete.Areas.Count > 100 Then
RowsToDelete.EntireRow.Delete
Set RowsToDelete = Nothing
End If
End If
Next
End With
If Not RowsToDelete Is Nothing Then
RowsToDelete.EntireRow.Delete
End If
ResetCalcs:
Application.Calculation = OriginalCalculationMode
End Sub
