I've been coding in flutter for two months now and can run my app in simulator or on a connected device no problem.
But when I try to actually build an apk via "Build" --> "Build Bundle(s) / APK", this option is greyed out.
Android Studio: 3.3.2
You can't build apk using Build option in Android Studio if you are running your Flutter project.
There are 2 solutions to build it.
In terminal, write flutter build apk (this will build apk for release version not the debug version)
Open your module in Android Studio and you can use Build option of the Android studio to build the debug apk.
For option 2, you can go to build.gradle file and you should see an option in Android Studio asking you to open the module separately (see the screenshot) Tap on this option and you can then build your apk in both debug and release mode.
I realize this might have already been answered, but I have another solution to this issue. I was having the same problem after modifying my pubspec.yaml file, so after trying to build within terminal nothing would happen. Apparently, you have to open the .yaml file within Android Studio from your project directory in order to for AS to realize that there's been a change to the file. After I opened the file from the project folder, the option for Build > flutter > Build Bundle(s) /APK > Build App Bundle finally reappeared again. Just sharing my experience and hope it can help someone else who may come across this rather strange issue.
Reopen the project from your projects directory, not from recent projects option. This solved for me
Please follow these steps:-
Go To Project Structure>Project>NOSDK
Change NOSDK to the latest
ANDROID API PLATFORM
Then go to MODULE and DO THE SAME

I am trying to build a ionic project in Android studio on Ubuntu 20.04 . I am using the command ionic capacitor build then android studio opens up as expected then it shows this error Gradle sync failed: Sync failed: reason unknown. I am unable find a solution for this particular gradle sync error. I have reinstalled Ubuntu and other things but still the problem persists.
In my case, a fresh install of Android Studio resulted in Android 31 being the only SDK available but the project was targeting Android 30. I went to Tools > SDK Manager and made sure the appropriate version of Android SDK was installed and available. After restarting, and allowing the gradle sync to complete I was able to build/run the app on a virtual device, etc.

Capacitor lets you manage your own Android project. Like any IDE-backed project, sometimes things get so out of sync that the only solution is to rebuild the project.
To do this, follow these steps:
Copy any source code you created (such as Java files in app/android/src, manifest files, or resource files) into a safe location outside of app/android.
Next, make sure you are running an updated version of the Capacitor CLI:
npm install #capacitor/cli#latest
Remove the android directory:
rm -rf android/
Re-create the Android app from Capacitor:
npx cap add android
Copy your saved source files back into the project.
Check the error log. You should find something like "Module: 'mobile' platform 'android-30' not found" or something similar. Click Tools > SDK Manager and download the appropriate Android SDK Platform package.
on top right you will see option to view log file upon clicking there you will redirect to file manager and open idea file there
example :
open idea file and scroll down you will see actual issue.
In my case android sdk 31 was not installed.
I installed android sdk 31 from File>Settings>Apprearance and behaviour>system settings>android sdk and install required android sdk and rebuild the project.
accord to my observation in most cases you get this error because you have not required sdk installed in your system.
now I'm making an app using flutter and trying to upload the app as internal test on Google play store. I saw people asking how to do it, but could not figure it out...
On the official document, it says "Build > Build > Generate Signed Bundle/APK" and I can generate APK, but I don't see the "Generate Signed Bundle/APK".
When I select "Build APK" in the picture above, it gives me the message like
You are building a fat APK that includes binaries for android-arm,
android-arm64, android-x64. If you are deploying the app to the Play
Store, it's recommended to use app bundles or split the APK to reduce
the APK size.
To generate an app bundle, run:

The reason why Open Android module in Android Studio is missing under Tools > Flutter is likely because you're using an older version of Flutter DevTools on Android Studio. You can run flutter pub global activate devtools on the Terminal to update the DevTools installed on the machine as mentioned on this guide.
to build apk use this line in terminal
flutter build apk --release --no-sound-null-safety

I had also gone through this problem where I have to import the existing Flutter project in Android Studio. I was able to import the project following below steps:
Open Android Studio
Goto File -> Open -> In Open File or Project window select the project you want to import.
Once you have done above steps try to resolve warnings shown in the log window. Warnings may be like update dependencies used in the project, etc.

I faced the same issue.
The gradle home directory (on my Windows machine) is located under:
C:\Program Files\Android\Android Studio\gradle\gradle-4.1
(please check the gradle version).
This will allow you to open the project. Then, you will most certainly need to "upgrade to gradle".
If this does not fully work, you might also consider using Visual Studio Code, which makes the "import" much easier: simply open the folder where you project resides. Optionally, you will have to resolve missing packages (-> Fetch packages). It should then be possible to run the project.

Or you can just use the flutter run command after step 1.
If you first add the flutter plugin for Android studio, then you can directly import the project as an Android Studio project and it should work fine.
In my case, having Android Studio 3.4.2 and Flutter 1.7.8, I only needed to:
1 - Open the project with the option "Open an existing Android Studio project".
2 - Run "flutter pub get" to get the packages listed in the pubspec.yaml file.
3 - Run the project with "flutter run"
If you are using Google services, don't forget to add your google-services.json file in your project. In another case, the project will fail without a clear message when you try to run it.
For Import exiting Flutter project.
Please choose Import Project because of Android Native application mean import use of android app only.
So use File -> Open -> Select Project root directory.
After open if ask for dependencies then Choose to Get dependencies
I am able to build the app properly, but when I run it I get this error:

You can use normal build run rather than instant run.
Check first
Go to Settings/Preferences > Build, Execution, Deployment option > Instant Run and uncheck all the three boxes.
Upgrading Gradle services URL:
Project > Gradle > Wrapper > gradle-wrapper.properties
Change URL from

Delete your build folder
When you run project, build folder will be created automatically
Go to BUILD option in menu > Clean the project, Build the project
It should work without instant run.
I had easy steps & correct way also
1 - In Settings -> Build, Execution, Deployment option -> Instant Run
2 - Clear Enable instant run to hot swap code
3 - Clean project
p/s : It should totally work.
The Gradle Plugin used is typically the same as the version of Android studio you are using.
Check the Android Studio version
Help → About
and the version will read
Android Studio Version X.Y.Z
Then, go to
Project → Gradle Scripts → build.gradle(Project)
and under dependencies change the classpath to
classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:X.Y.Z'
and rebuild/sync the project.
You can disable instant run by follow these steps in Android Studio:
File → Settings → Preferences dialog → Build → Execution → Deployment
→ Instant Run → Update Project
This feature introduced in Android Studio 2. however, when you disable it, next time when you try to push new app to your emulator is running much slower.
In my case I just update Android Studio to the latest build from canary channel and it's works without disable this feature.

As commented by sjd: Just cleaning the project and build again might help if you, just like me, have used the automatic update applied by android studio.
I just did a Build > Clean project and then reRun app!
I wanted to run the app in debug mode and got the same message, so I tried:
File > Invalidate caches and restart...
Clean project
Build project
Nothing worked...
Then, I just clicked on the green arrow to run the project without debugging...
Worked!
So then I just added a debugging session with the option left of the stop button in Android Studio.
I did fix by this way.
Update your classpath to classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:2.0.0' in your top level build.gradle file.
Done
I just Deleted the Build Folder and Clean project.It worked for me...!!!
In Android Studio 2.3.3
File -> Settings -> Build, Execution, Deployment -> Instant Run -> Unable Instant Run to hot swap code (Uncheck it)
Now, you have disable Instant Run...
It will solve Instant Run issue.
What is the proper way to open cocos2d-x-3.7 in Android Studio?
I tried:
Open existing project in Android Studio project > Choose proj.android-studio directory (In another attempt, I also tried to choose the base directory MyGame)
Run
Error: couldn't find "libcocos2dcpp.so.
Moreover, it also does Classes directory in the Project.
Android Studio is only partially supported in cocos2d-x 3.7 and 3.8. With the default project you will only be able to run your app without debugging using Android Studio.
Prior to running your app in Android Studio you will have to compile using the Android Studio flag:
cocos compile -p android --android-studio
You will have to run this command after any changes to your app are made, since the default Android Studio currently doesn't compile your project.
Furthermore the default Android Studio project does not include the Classes directory.
Suggestion: Use Eclipse or Xcode to develop your cocos2d-x projects for now. Hopefully future versions of cocos2d-x will have better support for Android Studio out of the box, this is critical considering Google is dropping support for Eclipse.
When you try to run the application on Android Studio, you get the error couldn't find "libcocos2dcpp.so" because it doesn't have the NDK for building your game.
I recommend you to compile proj.android and import that, cocos2d-x 3.7 doesn't support full Android Studio yet. Do this:
cocos compile -p android
Then import your proj.android to Android Studio.
Now you can run your application but you won't able to debug it, bad news (it will just install the APK on your device or virtual device).

For this you need to compile android studio project first so .so files and classes folder will be generated.
Open your command line and enter the following command to compile your android studio project:
cocos compile -p android --android-studio --ap android-24 --app-abi x86
This will create required files in your proj.android-studio directory.
Now import this project into Android Studio and try to run it.
