I am trying to install indexer library in python but getting the following error.
I encountered with the same problem and solved it by upgrading setuptools before installing indexer.
Upgraded setuptools by running following command:
pip install --upgrade setuptools
Then install indexer:
pip install indexer

Everything went well while I was trying to create a ros 2 package in Ubuntu 22.04 by following the ros2 documentation, however when I got to the colcon build step, it failed for python packages even though it works for cMake packages.
colcon build --packages-select mypkgpython

i have tried:
sudo apt-get install python3-distutils:
python3-distutils is already the newest version (3.10.6-1~22.04).
sudo apt-get install python3-apt:
python3-apt is already the newest version (2.4.0).
sudo apt install python3-colcon-common-extensions
python3-colcon-common-extensions is already the newest version(0.3.0-1)
how can i solve this problem?

The bdist_wininst command was deprecated in Python 3.8 and you are using python 3.10
Its no more found in python3-distutils package .
use
bdist_wheel (wheel packages) instead
or
if you want to run your code as it is downgrade your python to < 3.8
The bdist_wininst format was deprecated in Python 3.8, and the documentation for this format has been removed in Python 3.9. The recommended way to distribute Python packages now is the Wheel format.
you can overcome this error by JUST updating the setuptools
pip install --upgrade setuptools
Note that: Setuptools version 58.2.0 is the last version that works with ROS 2 python packages without any warnings because it is the last version that supports the old installation method, "python setup.py install." This method has been deprecated and replaced by newer, standards-based tools, such as pip and ament.

I can't install pillow on my computer anymore. When I tried pip install Pillow, I get warnings and then 2 errors :
ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pillow (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for pillow
I saw a lot of people in the same case and I tried all the solutions but nothing worked. Do you have any idea on how to re-install pillow?
Install with whatever you use to run Python, not pip directly. For example:
python3 -m pip install --upgrade pip
python3 -m pip install --upgrade Pillow

If you are using Anaconda, then it would probably be best to use:
conda install shapely
i guess you are using Windows ?
if so, you can't install shapely directly via pip
here's the steps:
go to this site and download desired version of shapely
run this script
pip install Shapely‑1.6.4.post1‑cp36‑cp36m‑win_amd64.whl
here i'm going to install Shapely version 1.6.4 for python 3.6 running in Windows 64bit

I am running python 3.6 on windows and am attempting to install Shapely using
pip install shapely==1.6b2

I have seen the other posts about this issue and have tried:

You may try to use the binary from this unofficial site. Just use pip install {wheel file name} to install it.

I had a similar error for installing shapely-1.5.17 via pip install shapely, and installing this made the pip install command work thereafter:
sudo apt-get install libgeos-dev
As of 2020, you can now simply install Shapely for Windows with:
pip install shapely
(you many need --upgrade to get at least version 1.7.0, when binary wheels were added for Windows)
I have tried to install lxml by downloading "lxml-3.6.1-cp35-cp35m-win32.whl" file and installing it by giving command pip install lxml-3.6.1-cp35-cp35m-win32.whl on cmd but am getting error: lxml-3.6.1-cp35-cp35m-win32.whl is not supported wheel on this platform. what should I do to install?
