Here i am getting the list of google drive files in '/dashboard/gdrive'. There is one more event of uploading a new file. On uploading the redux state shows that the new file is stored in state but whil re-rendering i am not able to access the store states.
Here is the codeblock
import React, { Component } from 'react';
import PropTypes from "prop-types";
import {connect} from "react-redux";
import {logoutUser} from "./../../actions/authActions.js";
import {syncCloud} from "./../../actions/cloudActions.js";
import {uploadFile} from "./../../actions/cloudActions.js";
class Gdrive extends Component {
constructor(){
super();
this.state={
file: null
}
this.onChange = this.onChange.bind(this);
this.onSubmit = this.onSubmit.bind(this);
this.handleCancelEvent = this.handleCancelEvent.bind(this);
}
onChange(e){
this.setState({
file: e.target.files[0]
});
}
onSubmit(e){
e.preventDefault();
const data = new FormData();
data.append('filename', this.state.file);
this.props.uploadFile(data);
}
handleCancelEvent(){
this.setState({
file: null
})
}
render() {
return (
<div>
<table>
<thead>
<tr><th>fileid</th><th>filename</th></tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
{this.props.cloud.files.data.map(file =>(
<tr>
<td>{file.id}</td>
<td>{file.name}</td>
</tr>
))}
</tbody>
</table>
<fieldset>
<form noValidate onSubmit={this.onSubmit}>
<div>
<label>filename</label>
<input type="file" onChange={this.onChange} name= "filename"></input>
</div>
<div>
<button type="submit">Upload</button>
<button onClick={this.handleCancelEvent}>Cancel</button>
</div>
</form>
</fieldset>
</div>
)
}
}
Gdrive.propTypes = {
logoutUser: PropTypes.func.isRequired,
auth: PropTypes.object.isRequired
};
const mapStateToProps = state => ({
auth: state.auth,
cloud: state.cloud
});
export default connect(
mapStateToProps,
{ logoutUser, syncCloud, uploadFile }
)(Gdrive);
and here is uploadFile action
export const uploadFile = (file) => dispatch => {
axios.post('/gdrive/upload', file)
.then(rslt => {
dispatch({
type: UPLOAD_FILE,
payload: {id: rslt.data.fileid, name: rslt.data.filename}
})
})
.catch(err => {
dispatch({
type: GET_ERRORS,
payload: err
})
});
}
Here is the reducer
import {SYNC_CLOUD, UPLOAD_FILE} from './../actions/types';
const initialState = {
files: {}
};
export default function(state=initialState, action){
switch(action.type){
case SYNC_CLOUD:
return{
...state,
files: action.payload
};
case UPLOAD_FILE:
return{
...state,
files: state.files.data.concat(action.payload),
};
default:
return state;
}
}
error screenshot
I think your reducer is wrongly mapped.The key here is to declare inital state as empty files rather empty object. And also concatinating the existing array with the response from api(payload).
Change ur reducer to something like this:
import {SYNC_CLOUD, UPLOAD_FILE} from './../actions/types';
const initialState = {
files: []
};
export default function(state=initialState, action){
switch(action.type){
case SYNC_CLOUD:
return{
...state,
files: action.payload
};
case UPLOAD_FILE:
return{
[...state, action.payload],
};
default:
return state;
}
}
And change the render function to
<tbody>
{this.props.cloud.files.map(file =>(
<tr>
<td>{file.id}</td>
<td>{file.name}</td>
</tr>
))}
</tbody>
mapDispatchToProps parameter to connect needs to be a function. Either do something like this
const mapDispatchToProps= dispatch => bindActionCreators(
{ logoutUser, syncCloud, uploadFile },
dispatch
)
Or, in pass null as your mapDispatchToProps and in your component use the action creator like this this.props.dispatch(uploadFile(data))

I'm trying to display an error message when a user tries to sign in with an unregistered user but I'm not able to get that error message on the frontend(reactjs) that I am sending from my backend(nodejs, express, MongoDB).
I am using redux to handle the state of the react app.
user login form onSubmit code:
const onSubmit = (data) => {
if (isLogin) {
dispatch(signin(data, history));
} else {
dispatch(signup(data, history));
}
};
actions creators for auth
import * as api from "../api";
export const signin = (formData, history) => async (dispatch) => {
try {
// login the user
const { data } = await api.signIn(formData);
dispatch({ type: "AUTH", data });
history.push("/");
} catch (error) {
console.log(error);
dispatch({ type: "ERROR", data: error.response.data.message });
}
};
export const signup = (formData, history) => async (dispatch) => {
try {
// sign up the user
const { data } = await api.signUp(formData);
dispatch({ type: "AUTH", data });
history.push("/");
} catch (error) {
console.log(error);
}
};
reducers for auth:
const authReducer = (state = { authData: null }, action) => {
switch (action.type) {
case "AUTH":
localStorage.setItem("profile", JSON.stringify({ ...action?.data }));
return { state, authData: action?.data };
case "LOGOUT":
localStorage.clear();
return { state, authData: null };
case "ERROR":
return { state, authData: action?.data };
default:
return state;
}
};
export default authReducer;
Backend sign in code
const signin = async (req, res) => {
const { email, password } = req.body;
try {
const existingUser = await User.findOne({ email });
if (!existingUser)
return res.status(404).json({ message: "User doesn't exist." });
const isPasswordCorrect = await bcrypt.compare(
password,
existingUser.password
);
if (!isPasswordCorrect)
res.status(404).json({ message: "Invalid Credentials" });
const token = jwt.sign(
{ email: existingUser.email, id: existingUser._id },
"test",
{ expiresIn: "1h" }
);
res.status(200).json({ result: existingUser, token });
} catch (error) {
res.status(500).json({ message: "Something went wrong" });
}
};
sign API
import axios from "axios";
const API = axios.create({
baseURL: process.env.REACT_APP_BASE_URL,
});
export const signIn = (formData) => API.post("/user/signin", formData);
export const signUp = (formData) => API.post("/user/signup", formData);
Anyone, please help me with this.
Screenshots of the error response in Postman:
I just debugged the issue. First install redux-devtools-extension by npm install --save redux-devtools-extension
Then apply this in store(index.js file in your case) as follows
import React from "react";
import ReactDOM from "react-dom";
import { Provider } from "react-redux";
import { createStore, applyMiddleware } from "redux";
import thunk from "redux-thunk";
import App from "./App";
import { reducers } from "./reducers";
import { composeWithDevTools } from "redux-devtools-extension";
const middleware = [thunk];
const store = createStore(
reducers,
composeWithDevTools(applyMiddleware(...middleware))
);
ReactDOM.render(
<React.StrictMode>
<Provider store={store}>
<App />
</Provider>
</React.StrictMode>,
document.getElementById("root")
);
And now you can use the error message anywhere as follows (your Auth.js file)
import React, { useState } from "react";
import { useSelector } from "react-redux";
import Input from "../utils/Input";
import Label from "../utils/Label";
import { useForm, FormProvider } from "react-hook-form";
import { GoogleLogin } from "react-google-login";
import { useDispatch } from "react-redux";
import { useHistory } from "react-router";
import { signin, signup } from "../../actions/auth";
const Auth = () => {
const [isLogin, setIsLogin] = useState(true);
const formMethods = useForm();
const auth = useSelector((state) => state.auth);
const { authData } = auth;
const { handleSubmit } = formMethods;
console.log(authData);
const dispatch = useDispatch();
const history = useHistory();
const changeScreen = () => {
setIsLogin(false);
dispatch({ type: "LOGOUT" });
};
const onSubmit = (data) => {
if (isLogin) {
dispatch(signin(data, history));
} else {
dispatch(signup(data, history));
}
};
const googleSuccess = async (res) => {
const result = res?.profileObj;
const token = res?.tokenId;
try {
dispatch({ type: "AUTH", data: { result, token } });
history.push("/");
} catch (error) {
console.log(error);
}
};
const googleFailure = (error) => {
console.log(error);
console.log("Google sign in was unsuccessful");
};

export default Auth;
And one last thing. Check nested object before using its properties like error.response.data.message (your auth.js actions file)
import * as api from "../api";
export const signin = (formData, history) => async (dispatch) => {
try {
// login the user
const { data } = await api.signIn(formData);
dispatch({ type: "AUTH", data });
history.push("/");
} catch (error) {
console.log("An error occured while ");
const errMsg =
error.response && error.response.data.message
? error.response.data.message
: error.message;
dispatch({ type: "ERROR", data: errMsg });
console.log(errMsg);
}
};
export const signup = (formData, history) => async (dispatch) => {
try {
// sign up the user
const { data } = await api.signUp(formData);
dispatch({ type: "AUTH", data });
history.push("/");
} catch (error) {
console.log(error);
}
};
Hope it helps!
As far as I understood, everything is working fine, and actually, there is no error happening on the frontend side. You have to check the status code of "await api.signIn(formData);" response. If it is 200, it means that everything is ok otherwise you have to check the message in the response to get the message error. As on the frontend there is thrown error to be catched.
you can aslo use react-toastify . you can get status code and response message from error and store it in state object in reducers/auth.js and access it using useSelector() then create if else conditions according to status code and pass message to toast(#error_message#).
just see react-toastify and know how to use it.
i'm currently creating my first MERN App, and everything is going well, until something happened, and i'm going my try to explain because i need help !
What i'm doing is a facebook clone, where you can post something, you can delete your post and you can update your post, the logic is simple, i call dispatch to pass the data to the actions, the actions pass the data to the backend, and the backend return something to me and it saves in my store, because i'm using redux
The problem is that, when i have 2 post, and i want to delete a post, or maybe i want to edit it, the other post dissapears, it's like it loses its id and then loses the information, then i can't do anything but reaload the page, and it happens always
this is how it looks like, everything fine
Then, after trying to edit a post, the second one lost its information, and in the console, it says that Warning: Each child in a list should have a unique "key" prop, and i already gave each post the key={_id}, but the post lost it and i don't know how
Here's the code

Even though i've been trying to solve this problem for nearly 3.5 hours, i think that the problem might be in my Posts.js part, if you can help me, you're the greatest !
I have a UserFeed component and EditForm component. As soon as I edit the form, I need to be redirected to the UserFeed and the updated data should be shown on UserFeed(title and description of the post).
So, the flow is like-UserFeed, which list the posts, when click on edit,redirected to EditForm, updates the field, redirected to UserFeed again, but now UserFeed should list the posts with the updated data, not the old one.
In this I'm just redirectin to / just to see if it works. But I need to be redirected to the feed with the updated data.

updatePost action
export const updatePost = (id, data, redirect) => {
return async dispatch => {
dispatch( { type: "UPDATING_POST_START" })
try {
const res = await axios.put(`http://localhost:3000/api/v1/posts/${id}/edit`, data)
dispatch({
type: "UPDATING_POST_SUCCESS",
data: res.data
})
redirect()
} catch(error) {
dispatch({
type: "UPDATING_POST_FAILURE",
data: { error: "Something went wrong"}
})
}
}
}
I'm not sure if my action is correct or not.
Here's the updatePost controller.
updatePost: async (req, res, next) => {
try {
const data = {
title: req.body.title,
description: req.body.description
}
const post = await Post.findByIdAndUpdate(req.params.id, data, { new: true })
if (!post) {
return res.status(404).json({ message: "No post found "})
}
return res.status(200).json({ post })
} catch(error) {
return next(error)
}
}
One mistake is that to set the current fields you need to use $set in mongodb , also you want to build the object , for example if req.body does not have title it will generate an error
updatePost: async (req, res, next) => {
try {
const data = {};
if(title) data.title=req.body.title;
if(description) data.description=req.body.description
const post = await Post.findByIdAndUpdate(req.params.id, {$set:data}, { new: true })
if (!post) {
return res.status(404).json({ message: "No post found "})
}
return res.status(200).json({ post })
} catch(error) {
return next(error)
}
}
I have created React.js Project with Golden Layout. As you see the image below it's possible to open up three other sub windows by clicking first "View Button", but when I click the second view button the data does not change, I am not able to find where I am going wrong.
First View
Second View
When trying to apply the content to the other three tabs, I get the above error.

I have made a header.js component in a separate file in React, and I'm trying to bring it into the Profile.js file, but it's not loading in the front-end.
I am not getting any errors.
Output:
Profile.js:
In this file I think it's not able to load the header component as it's only printing the data from the if loop, and in-spite of having data in the else part, it is skipping that.
