I want rewrite my from : url https://www.domainname.in/news.php?slug=this-is-title-of-article to: https://www.domainname.in/this-is-title-of-article
please help me.
This probably is what you are looking for:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !-d
RewriteRule ^/?([\w-]+)$ /news.php?slug=$1 [END,QSA]
However to prevent conflicts with other parts of your web application I would suggest that you use the URL https://example.com/news/this-is-title-of-article instead of https://example.com/this-is-title-of-article. This allows for a more specific rule which will give you less headaches:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !-d
RewriteRule ^/news/?([\w-]+)$ /news.php?slug=$1 [END,QSA]

I want to redirect the url of http://sitename/modules/fb/fb.php to http://sitename/modules/take_control .How can i do that using htaccess
I tried like
RewriteRule ^/?modules/fb/fb\.php$ take_control , Is that right ?
Your solution is the opposite of what you most likely want if you are trying to rewrite to take_control.
Give this a try. These rules should provide the rewrite with take_control as the URI both ways.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^GET\ /+modules/fb/fb\.php [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /take_control/ [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^take_control/?$ /modules/fb/fb.php [L]
I need to simultaneously do two things with htaccess.
I need to take a URL like:
http://client.example.com/123
and rewrite the directory to a param, and simultaneously add another subdomain to the url so it looks like this:
http://client.qa.example.com/?param=123
This does the param bit correctly, but I can't figure out how to add the subdir:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/[^/]+/?$
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/?$ /?param=$1 [L]
You can examine the host header using a RewriteCond and extract the relevant parts of the name. Use them in the rewrite. Back references to matches in RewriteConds appear as %n
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} (.+?)\.(.*)
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/?$ http://%1.qa.%2/?param=$1 [R,L]
(.+?)\.(.*) will do a match on everything up to the first . and then everything to the end. So client and example.com will respectively be in %1 and %2
If your .htaccess is in the root of client.example.com, it should be a simple redirect. Of course the directory has to be a fake directory or this won't redirect.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ http://client.qa.example.com/?param=$1 [R=301,QSA,L]
You can use the following to match (check for htaccess syntax):
And replace with:
$1qa.$2?param=$3
See DEMO
Finally got it working using:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} (.+?)\.(.*)
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/?$ http://%1.qa.%2/?param=$1 [R,L]
Now I just have to figure out how to work in 2 parameters, given that param 2 isn't always going to be present.
I had a previous post regarding this matter:
ISAPI_Rewrite and Coldfusion Rules
With the help of Helicon Support we were able to create the following rules:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^filter=brand&brand_id=([^&]+)&brand_name=([^&]+)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^products-search\.cfm$ /search/%1/%2.cfm? [NC,R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^search/([^/]+)/([^._]+)\.cfm$ /products-search.cfm?filter=brand&brand_id=$1&brand_name=$2 [NC,L]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^product_id=([^&]+)&product_title=([^&]+)$
RewriteRule ^product-details\.cfm$ /%1/%2.cfm? [NC,R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^._]+)\.cfm$ /product-details.cfm?product_id=$1&product_title=$2 [NC,L]
Their help was much appreciated as i am very new to URL Rewriting. The issue i am having now is that the first rule works, it turns the url from:
www.mysite.com/products-search.cfm?filter=brand&brand_id=98&brand_name=HAMANN
to
www.mysite.com/search/98/HAMANN.cfm
Since i am new to this, i do not understand how to get the css/js/images folders to display on this page, what rule or condition do i use for the RewriteBase / part so that everything on the page loads correctly?
The second part of the .htaccess rules do not actually work which change:
product-details.cfm?product_id=1&product_title=This Is A New Product
to
products/This_Is_A_New_Product.cfm
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I changed .htacess file as below.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.*)product-list.php(.*)
RewriteRule (.*) www.example.com/swimming-pool/product-list\.php$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.*)product-info.php(.*)
RewriteRule (.*)\?(.*)$ www.example.com/swimming-pool/product\-info\.php$2 [R=301,L]
i just need that when i request for
http://www.example.com/product-info.php?Applepc.html should be redirected to
http://www.example.com/swimming-pool/product-info.php?Applepc.html
Output is getting like this in URL field:-
www.example.com/swimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpswimming-pool/product-list.phpproduct-list.php?Flowers-pg1-cid38.html
Please tell me where i am mistaking.
Although you don't mention what is the purpose of the other rule with product-list.php, it is included in this rule-set.
You may try this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (product-list|product-info)\.php [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ swimming-pool/$1 [R=301,L]
Redirects permanently any URL like this one
http://www.example.com/product-info.php?query or
http://www.example.com/product-list.php?query
To
http://www.example.com/swimming-pool/product-info.php?query or
http://www.example.com/swimming-pool/product-list.php?query
It seems the problem with the actual rules is they are generating a loop.
How can I redirect requests to mydomain.tld/somepage.ext to mydomain.tld/mydomain/somepage.ext? I have subdomains like subdomain.mydomain.tld that I don't want to be affected by this.
I can't seem to get it to work right. I'm trying this:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} mysite.com
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/mysite
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule (.*) /mysite/$1
But it isn't redirecting anything at all.
I also want to exclude one or two folders from this rule.
This seems to be working...
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} mysite\.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/mysite/ # but I don't see why this line is needed when I've used [L] below
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/ignored_folder/
RewriteRule .* /mysite/$0 [QSA,L]
At least for now.
