Alternative for Android Studio Theme Editor - android-studio

As mentioned here, Google has disabled the Android Studio Theme Editor starting from version 3.3.
They have what seems like an alternative called Material Theme Editor, but it's only available for MacOS. Is anyone familiar with an alternative that works on Windows?

How do I configure Android Studio to show hints?

Currently learning Flutter. I was watching a video tutorial on YouTube (MTechViral) and the IDE that he was using (Visual Studio Code) showed hints whenever he typed an element as shown here.
See how the IDE lists all the possible elements and then describes it?
Is it possible to configure Android Studio to do this? Thanks!
make sure you have installed the flutter and dart plugin, once installed intellisense should work off the bat. Maybe try updating android studio and reinstalling the dart and flutter plugins. CTRL + SPACE on windows and control + space on mac will display intellisense.
Good luck

Intellij Idea 2017.3 (and Android studio 3.1) project tool window doesn't show visibility icons anymore

After upgrading to Intellij Idea 2017.3 and to Android Studio 3.1 canary 6 I noticed the project tool window doesn't show the little lock icons next to files anymore.
This is very useful to have a bird's eye view on the visibility of each file (public, package protected...).
Is there a setting to bring them back?

Android Studio 2.2.2 preview and design not showing properly

I have recently installed Android Studio 2.2.2. But in the IDE the preview and design window for xml not showing complete mobile-like appearance that I used to view in previous version, rather it is showing only the mobile screen with rulers around. How can I see full featured preview/design? Pls advice.
I was also looking for this, But its new functionally it will look like this by default. only screen and blueprints, No mobile.

Merge Intellij IDEs to have only one installed

This is a basic question.
I use Android Studio, AppCode, IntelliJ IDEA, PHPStorm and RubyMine.
Is there any way to merge all of those IDEs?
For example, IntelliJ IDEA with plugins for each type of development instead of having 5 IDEs that are basically the same.
Thanks.
Intellij IDEA Ultimate includes all the features available in PHPStorm and RubyMine (but you need installing some missing plugins from the repository). Same for Android Studio (https://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2013/05/intellij-idea-and-android-studio-faq/). So you can just use Intellij IDEA for Ruby, PHP and Android development. AppCode, however, can't be replaced with IDEA

Autocomplete when editing android layouts in Visual Studio with Xamarin

I'm currently running a latest Xamarin.Android trial installation with up-to-date Visual Studio 2012.
When opening .axml file in visual studio I can see a visual designer and can use it normally, when I switch to the "Source" tab I can see a perfectly fine layout xml with syntax highlighted and whatnot.
The problem is, that auto-complete can only suggest XML comment and CDATA elements, nothing else.
Is there a way to turn android-aware auto-complete in Visual Studio? I recall Xamarin Studio being able to auto-complete layouts, but when opening a solution, which was edited in Visual Studio, Xamarin Studio also fails to auto-suggest.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Switched to the paid version and the problem still persists in both Xamarin and Visual Studios.
In Xamarin studio you may simply right-click on axml file and select - "Open with/Source Code Editor"
Unfortunately, i can't check it in Visual Studio.
Actually you can easily add the Intellisense-like feature in visual studio for your android layout.
The step by step tutorial is here https://kb.xamarin.com/customer/portal/articles/1920119-how-do-i-enable-intellisense-in-android-axml-files-
After so many struggles, the only solution, which worked out for me after all, was to use IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse to edit my android layouts, and writing code-behind in Xamarin Studio. Ditching Xamarin and going back to development with Java worked out even better.
For our project the best solution was to use
- VS to edit cs code
- Android studio to work with styles, layouts,...
How do we work:
Assume the project located in C:\projects\fun
Create an Android project in C:\projects\fun\AndroidStudio
Using bat script bellow create symlinks to resources folder and AndroidManifest.xml
script.bat
mklink /J C:\projects\fun\AndroidStudio\app\src\main\res C:\projects\fun\Resources
mklink /H C:\projects\fun\AndroidStudio\app\src\main\AndroidManifest.xml C:\projects\fun\Properties\AndroidManifest.xml
it doesn't require to use axml instead of xml files, designer works fine, preview too.
The Autocomplete work only on files with .axml extension.
If your file type is xml you can create new file with axml extension and copy the content of the xml old file to the new axml file (sometimes just renaming the file don't work)
