Excel.QAT file from Excel2007 to Office365. .QAT replaced by OfficeUI? - excel

I'm trying to migrate a QuickAccessToolbar in Excel 2007 to a new machine running Office365. It seems (web searches haven't been any help) that Microsoft has changed the parameter files from xx.QAT to OfficeUI and the location is different.
There is no "IMPORT/EXPORT" function in Excel 2007 in the QAT which is the standard method of migrating the settings.
Any help is appreciated. Happy New Year.

Solution found on social.technet.microsoft.com
I just upgraded from 2007 to 2010. Thanks for the help, I spent
months building my QAT, glad to have it back. My method was very
similar:
In Computer A only, navigate to:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\ Create a copy of
Excel.qat;
Rename copy to: Excel.officeUI;
Restart Excel 2010, done.
I also did the same thing to Word and PowerPoint while there.

Excel 2016 cannot access DDE server

I'm using Excel 2016 to access a DDE server (Rockwell Software's RSLinx Classic.) The DDE server is working correctly/can be accessed from other applications. The problem is trying to access it from Excel.
This is what is in my cell: =RSLinx|PS9TOPIC1!'N7:0'
The PS9TPIC1 topic is set up (and works) in RSLinx. RSLinx is up and running. But I get:
Remote data not accessible... Start application RSLINX.EXE?
Clicking Yes gets:
Cannot run 'RSLINX.EXE'. The program or one of its components is missing or corrupted
The program runs fine. I have ensured that RSLinx.exe is on the PATH (Double-checked the PATH for the running Excel using Task Manager.) It doesn't matter whether I have RSLinx running before starting Excel or have Excel try to launch it.
No, the option to "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange" is not checked for this document.
I tried running both RSLinx and Excel as "Administrator" with the same result.
Bringing up the help for data connections shows this:
Note: In an earlier version of Excel, you might have used Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) in combination with the Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard in Word. Excel no longer supports DDE. If you'd like us to consider this feature for the next version of Excel, drop us a comment in the Excel Suggestion Box.
Try using an older Excel license.
I had the same problem, i already solved it. Just go to your project in the kepserver, open properties, and make sure enable the DDE conection to your server... Just that in my case. Good luck..

SAP Business Objects Financial Consolidation Excel Add-In Automation

I have a SAP Business Objects Web 7.5 Add-in in Excel 2007.
The add in itself is made up of a compiled .xll file (CtExcelLinksWeb.xll) and a number of dll's.
A bit of vba shows the xll is registered, and all of its registered functions.
However, when I try to use one of these functions in VBA using Application.Run(), I get
Runtime 1004 - Macro may not be available or may be disabled.
I have tried registering the xll within the same sub (Application.RegisterXLL ()) and upon registering a VBAProject called CtEmpty.csv is created
I want to be able to automate the use of this add-in using VBA as it does long winded repetitive tasks, and then I can work on figuring out how to use the functions
Any help will be appreciated
Are the DLLs on the PATH? It may be that Excel can't load the DLLs that the XLL is dependent upon. Dependency Walker (depends.exe) is a handy tool for troubleshooting this kind of issue.
Also, have you tried using File/Options/Addins to register the XLL, as well as VBA code?

Creating a C# program that works with an existing Excel Workbook

firstly I'm not even sure if its even possible so i thought id ask
all research that i have done haven't given me the answers and info I need.
I need to create a VS Win forms program (using visual studio 2012) that interacts with a DB & AN EXCEL 2010 WORKBOOK?
can it be reasonably done?
the specifics are these
the excel 2010 workbook already exists and comprises 35 sheets/pages, BUT NOT ALL PAGES NEED TO BE USED IN THE PROGRAM only 12 do. it is a workbook for project management
the program works with button click events, that when pressed would open a specific page/sheet of the workbook. the user would then be able to fill in fields etc and save it
ideally also print it(Specific page) (from program and not excel directly) and obviously access it and amend or add to it from the Program time and time again
the workbook is a master workbook so every time a new project is created, the program would need to generate a new "instance" of the master workbook (the 12 pages)
each project and the "instance" of the workbook would need to be saved separately on the Hard Drive
this is/would be a client side stand alone application running on a laptop
is this possible? or highly complex?
and if so what are the relevant classes that would need to be imported into the project
or is it better/possible? to take the relevant pages ad make a new workbook inside of visual studio office node and make instances of it ??
at no point at all does data in the DB or Excel workbook need to be transferred to one another. they run separately but are part of the one program
any and all help would be appreciated
This is not a complex project, visual studio supports Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library. You can import the library and start using the events built in. It works great with excel. I have created numerous projects just like the one you've mentioned and had no problems so far.

Exporting Native Excel 2007 Files From .NET

Does anyone know of resources that can help me export simple contents of a GridView to a native Excel 2007 format (i.e. the OpenOfficeXML format).
I've already seen solutions like Matt Berseth's, and in fact I have been using that for a while, but it comes with an annoying warning produced by Excel 2007 as documented here stemming from the fact that a native Excel file is not generated; rather it is HTML.
My initial research shows that, at the core, xlsx files are zip files, but I have no idea how to produce these or what goes in them.
Any suggestions (or tutorials) would be greatly appreciated.
CarlosAg has an ExcelXML writer which works really well. It isn't a native excel 2007 formatted file, but it will be readable in excel 2007.
You will need to write a little method to do the exporting manually, the API is very straight forward though. You will create a sheet object, then a row object, then a cell object. You can just loop through your data and output it. The examples on the site are pretty decent.
I prefer using Microsoft's own Open XML Format SDK. It is free, it is released by Microsoft and it creates real .xlsx files.
You can find the reference documentation here, as you can see, it is pretty straightforward to use.
SpreadsheetGear for .NET can read and write native xls and xlsx files and is easier to use (takes less of your time) than other solutions because it has an Excel like API so you don't have to learn anything about Open XML.
You can see some live ASP.NET (C# and VB) Excel Reporting examples here and download an evaluation version here.

Excel Expert: need a good solution to fill some data into a complex excel sheet

I am stuck with a problem
The Requirement is that, there a complex Excel file(XLS) that is used as template; it has Macros and all the worksheets are either locked or hidden. When the user clicks to download it, the follows operation occurs
Unlock a particular worksheet, fill some data # certain cells and then lock it back.
Unhide a worksheet, fill some data # certain cells and then hide it back.
I think there are two options to resolve it (if there are more then please let me know)
Interop libraries / Excel Object Library
OLEDb Driver
I cannot got with the option 1 as excel is not installed on the webserver and I heard that it's not a good option to install MSOffice # webserver.
My question is that can we use OLDb to perform the operations mentioned above OR is there any other option ???
BTW Sharepoint service is also not available :(
Please help!!!!
You could maybe try ExcelPackge.

Check out this question I asked some time ago for an overview of options. I ended up going with the Aspose library, which I link to in my original post. It's not cheap, but it does the job very simply and elegantly. It even has templating functionality built in (called SmartMarkers, IIRC).
SpreadsheetGear for .NET will handle this and has an API which is very similar to Excel. You can see what our customers say and download the free, fully functional evalution here.
