I have a read a few other similar questions but have been unable to find an answer, and I do not understand the error message in all honesty. I understand cygwin in a Unix-like interface for windows, but that is about it. I have tried running as administrator, deleting all temp files, restarting etc. but cannot get the pkg to install successfully. Any ideas?
The referenced file 'getxmlattv' is just a function and not a text file as described and cannot be run as a standalone file:

I don't see how this is of any use.
For the windows version of octave the packages are already available in the installer
https://wiki.octave.org/Octave_for_Microsoft_Windows
so you don't need to install io from source package. Just re-run the installer
if you missed it.
Please note that the error message is misleading as you are not using the
cygwin version of octave but msys/mingw one; that is based on a modified
version of the cygwin1.dll where they forgot to update the messages:

I guess this is due to dependency of sselMain in sselTransorm as the error occurs during the build of sselTransform directory.

I believe this script isn't printing anything because angr fails to find a solution and then exits. You can prove this by appending the following to your script:

If the exception raises, a valid solution was not found.
In terms of why it doesn't work, this code looks like copy & paste from a few different sources, and so it's fairly convoluted.
For example, the way the flag symbol is passed to stdin is not ideal. By default, stdin is a SimPackets, so it's best to keep it that way.
The following script solves the challenge, I have commented it to help you understand. You will notice that changing stdin=angr.SimPackets(name='stdin', content=[(flag, 15)]) to stdin=flag will cause the script to fail, due to the reason mentioned above.

A bit of Trivia - there are actually multiple 'solutions' that the program would accept, I guess the CTF flag server only accepts one though.

After upgrading from python 3.8.0 to python 3.9.1, the tremc front-end of transmission bitTorrent client is throwing decodestrings is not an attribute of base64 error whenever i click on a torrent entry to check the details.
My system specs:
OS: Arch linux
kernel: 5.6.11-clear-linux
base64.encodestring() and base64.decodestring(), aliases deprecated since Python 3.1, have been removed.
use base64.encodebytes() and base64.decodebytes()
So i went to the site-packages directory and with ripgrep tried searching for the decodestring string.

Upon examining the py3compat.py file,i found this block:

Opened tremc script, found the erring line (line 441), just replaced the attribute decodestring with decodebytes.A quick fix till the next update.
PS: Checked the github repository, and there's a pull request for it in waiting.
If you don't want to wait for the next release and also don't want to hack the way i did, you can get it freshly build from the repository, though that would be not much of a difference than my method

The problem solution will depend on the following: 1)Is certificate file being delivered by the installer, or is it supposed to be present on the target machine? Check that the installer delivers it as a permanent file, or support file (in [SUPPORTDIR]), or if the file really exists; 2) where this custom action is located? Normally actions like that should be placed after InstallFinalize.
At the moment I'm using some magic to get the current git revision into my scons builds.. I just grab the version a stick it into CPPDEFINES.
It works quite nicely ... until the version changes and scons wants to rebuild everything, rather than just the files that have changed - becasue the define that all files use has changed.
Ideally I'd generate a file using a custom builder called git_version.cpp and
just have a function in there that returns the right tag. That way only that one file would be rebuilt.
Now I'm sure I've seen a tutorial showing exactly how to do this .. but I can't seem to track it down. And I find the custom builder stuff a little odd in scons...
So any pointers would be appreciated...

You don't need a custom Builder since this is just one file. You can use a function (attached to the target version file as an Action) to generate your version file. In the example code below, I've already computed the version and put it into an environment variable.
