How do you get the authentication contact info from azure ad b2c with the microsoft graph, I am looking to retrieve the email address.
I checked the documentation on Microsoft Graph API and could find no mention of how to get the Authentication Contact Info besides using PowerShell (learn.microsoft.com/en-za/azure/active-directory/authentication/…)
Based on this article, there are still some gaps between the Microsoft Graph API and the older Azure AD Graph API, but seems neither will fully retrieve what's required.
As of now, the following with get the Alternate Email field only from the "Authentication contact info" section using the Azure AD Graph API;
Register the Application in Azure AD
In the Azure Active Directory instance;
Register a new application (client_id)
Grant "Read all users' full profiles" permissions to Windows Azure Active Directory
Create a private key (client_secret) for the application

As you mentioned it seems that there is no microsoft Graph API could get the authentication Contact Info Email.
But we could get that information with following API, I capture it with browser. It seems a litte hack.
Get https://main.iam.ad.ext.azure.com/api/UserDetails/{userId}
About how to get the access token, please refer to this blog.
Note: I don't find this API in the Azure official document. Please don't use it for product, you could use it for test.

I am trying to register an application on the azure ad using the Graph API calls.
I am using the postman to hit the APIs and I have admin access in Azure.
So Far I have tried the following things:
I registered an application manually on Azure AD using this doc- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/dev-tools/api/latest/aad/service-prin-aad-token. (I gave all the required permissions to my application)
I am fetching the token using the service to service call client credentials- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/azuread-dev/v1-oauth2-client-creds-grant-flow.
After getting the token I pass it in the Authorization and hit the MS graph Create Application endpoint. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/application-post-applications?view=graph-rest-1.0&tabs=http.
But In the postman, I am not getting any response body. I have checked my Azure Tenant but I am not able to find any newly Registered App.
For Token service(Get)
Endpoint- https://login.microsoftonline.com/{my-tenant-id}/oauth2/token
body-
grant_type:client_credentials
client_id:{app-id}
scope:https://graph.microsoft.com/.default
client_secret:{secret}
//resource:https://graph.microsoft.com
Response success(200) with token
For Create App(POST)
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/applications
body: {
"displayName": "Created with MS Graph API"
}
Authorization: Bearer {token}
Response: Nothing is showing in response
Response from API
You can register the application using the Create Application API
POST https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/applications
You need to have enough permissions first to be able to register an application with Azure AD. This sample shows how to register and create an application to target the Graph API. https://github.com/microsoftgraph/aspnet-snippets-sample
I found the solution, In the API Header, I was specifying the Content-Length= 67 which was not required. Now I am able to get the Success response.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/application-post-applications?view=graph-rest-1.0&tabs=http
If we look at the MS documentation, They have provided the below example
POST https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/applications
Content-type: application/json
Content-length: 67
{
"displayName": "Display name"
}
We don't need to pass the Content-Length in headers.
I'm trying to integrate the MS Teams API in a Web-App.
First of all i was trying to use the MS API from Postman to see the workflow.
On the Azure UI i have succesfully created an App-Registration: i have my ClientID, TenantID and i have created also the client secret.
I downloaded the Postman API from https://github.com/microsoftgraph/microsoftgraph-postman-collections and i can retrieve the App-Only Access token.
I created two users in a group and i logged them on MS Teams Application, they can chat.
I can also get the User Access Token and endpoints such
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me
etc..
are correctly working.
I am passing the User Access Token as Bearer token for the request.
These are the API permissions i gave:
I am having issues with the endpoints in the folder Events like:
https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/me/findRooms
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/calendars
etc..
They all give the same error:
{
"error":{
"code":"NoUserFoundWithGivenClaims",
"message":"The user specified by the user-context in the token does not exist.",
"innerError":{
"oAuthEventOperationId":"08e3abc3-3fdf-4d85-849d-7632ac0723d2",
"oAuthEventcV":"CGW24oLIeEW1qoscgMIMTw.1.1",
"errorUrl":"https://aka.ms/autherrors#error-InvalidUser",
"requestId":"8e6cb242-17fe-4a94-8c89-912606578fb3",
"date":"2021-03-09T12:04:27"
}
}
}
I haven't found anything about this error.
Can someone help me?
Thanks.
You can check your bearer token by putting it in jwt.ms and see if you have the required permissions in 'scp' claim.
If you are getting MailboxNotEnabledForRESTAPI then you need to check if you have the proper exchange license or not.
You can add license by going into Microsoft Admin Center -> Users -> Active Users -> Select your user -> Licenses
I have a web application registered in Azure AD and have it working with the Graph API. But I would like to be able to instead query the Sharepoint REST API.
I have added the sharepoint delegated permission scope "AllSites.Read" to my application (in addition to the Graph API scopes that I was using before) and request this scope (in addition to the other delagated msgraph scopes) when I get the oauth token from the user. I successfully get the token, using https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0 for the authorization/token calls, but am unable to make a successful query:
My query looks like client.get(f"https://{tenant}.sharepoint.com/_api/web/lists") where tenant is the tenant of the particular user who's token I am using.
The error I get looks like {'error_description': 'Invalid issuer or signature.'} with reason="Token contains invalid signature.";category="invalid_client"' in the header of the response.
I am able to query the Graph api, but would like to also be able to query the Sharepoint REST api, because the Graph api is is insufficient for my actual use case, which will be to get Sharepoint groups (Graph api does not give sharepoint groups when I ask for groups, only Office 365 and Azure AD groups).
Update:
The permissions I've set on the app:
I have not added any scopes in Expose API, I don't know if I need to. I did not need this part to have it working with Graph API.
Lastly I'll mention that in Postman, controlled environment purely with this as the request, with OAuth 2.0:
Auth URL: https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0/authorize
Access Token URL: https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0/token
client_id
client_secret
Scope: AllSites.Read
I get a token successfully, with all the roles, although it still doesn't give me access to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/web/lists. I get the following error:
"error": {
"code": "-2147024891, System.UnauthorizedAccessException",
"message": {
"lang": "en-US",
"value": "Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource."
}
}
}
which admittedly is probably a step forward from the invalid client error I was getting before, but still quite stuck.
I was able to get this to work in Postman:
OAuth 2.0
Grant Type: Authorization Code
Auth URL: https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0/authorize
Access Token URL: https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/v2.0/token
Client ID: <client_id>
Client Secret: <client_secret>
Scope: https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/AllSites.FullControl
The token I get back has all of the permissions that I set on the application, including the Graph API ones and the Sharepoint scopes that I did not request in the Scope parameter of the auth request:
"scp": "AllSites.FullControl AllSites.Read Directory.Read.All Files.Read.All Group.Read.All MyFiles.Read Sites.Read.All Sites.Search.All User.Read User.Read.All", which was a little surprising.
A key point was setting the tenant url in the scope so that the aud parameter in the token comes back for the right tenant. It was coming back before configured for the resourceAppId associated with the Graph permissions (00000003-0000-0000-c000-000000000000), rather than the Sharepoint permissions. This way, aud got set to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com and I was able to access https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/web/lists.
You can try to get the acccess token in PostMan for a testing purpose.
Callback URL: https://www.getpostman.com/oauth2/callback
Auth URL : https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/authorize?resource=https://<tenant_name>.sharepoint.com
Access Token URL : https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/token
Client ID : <Application_ID>
Client Secret : <KEY>
Grant Type : Authorization Code
Will pop up a login window to sign in and then generate the access token and get the SharePoint groups:

Use Postman and Azure AD to send REST request to SharePoint Online
I am learning Microsoft Graph and for this I use Graph Explorer and Postman.
With Graph Explorer : I am Signed In with my personal user account (hotmail). As soon as I am connected, I can see the token. Strangely when I copy/paste this token in jwt.io it cannot be decoded. Yet I can perform query like https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me which returns me some infos of myself as a user (with http 200). Or this query https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/sendMail which allow me to send a test and receive a test mail (with http 202). All of these requests was "delegated permission". So I don't have any problem using Graph Explorer with my personnal account (hotmail).
With Postman : this time I will perform some tests with "application permission". I followed the steps below:
On the Azure Portal
Step 1: App registrations / New registration / I give a name / Choose the 3rd account type (Accounts in any organizational directory and personal Microsoft accounts) / Click on Register button
Step 2: Api permissions / Add permission / Microsoft Graph / Application permissions / Mail.Send (send mail as any user)
Step 3: Grand admin consent for... button to activate the permission
Step 4: Certificate & Secrets / New client secret / Enter a description / Click Add button
Step 5: Obtain a token in Postman
POST
https://login.microsoftonline.com/{my-tenant-id-here}/oauth2/v2.0/token
HEADERS
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
BODY
client_id: {my-client-id-here}
client_secret: {my-client-secret-here}
grant_type: client_credentials
scope: https://graph.microsoft.com/.default
OK I got a token
When copy/paste this token in jwt.io I see this:
Step 6: Query for listing all users
GET
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users
AUTHORIZATION
Bearer token: {bearer-token-received-previously}
HEADERS
Content-Type: application/json
OK I got infos for all users (as json)
Step 7: Query for sending a mail
POST
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users/{user-principal-name}/sendMail
AUTHORIZATION
Bearer token: {bearer-token-received-previously}
HEADERS
Content-Type: application/json
BODY (JSON)
{
"message": {
"subject": "This is my subject",
"body": {
"contentType": "Text",
"content": "This is my content"
},
"toRecipients": [

NOT OK Error: MailboxNotEnabledForRESTAPI - REST API is not yet supported for this mailbox
I would like to know why I got this error ? I can send email with Graph Explorer (when using delegated permission) and not with Postman (when using application permission).
As you can see below, I grant admin consent in Enterprise applications on the Azure Portal.
I read somewhere that the error means the user doesn't have the mailbox in EXO cloud. EXO is O365 Exchange Online Cloud. So if you don't have mailbox in the cloud O365 Exchange REST APIs will not work for these users. If that is the case, what would you do ?
I have a Web application which should send mails from a shared mailbox. No matter which user is connected, this is always the same mailbox which is used to send mails. That's why I go with "application permission" and "Client credential flow".
As explained above, I use my personal account (hotmail) for testing purpose but in production I'll use a work account (not accessible from my dev environment).
As a side note, I know there are libraries to facilitate the process and avoid using REST API calls (urls) but I don't think that can explain the problem I am facing.
"MailboxNotEnabledForRESTAPI - REST API is not yet supported for this mailbox" This error message means that the email account you are using to send email doesn't have an Exchange Online license.
For a personal account, you should use Delegated permission, which you have tried in Microsoft Graph Explorer. See Permissions here.
.
If we add the personal account to your tenant as a guest user, although we can Assign a license to a guest user (I assume we can assign EXO license to the guest user), the mailbox hosted in EXO is different from the mailbox of the personal account. They are totally 2 separated mailboxes. And in fact I failed to assign EXO license to the guest.
So in this case Client Credential Flow applies to the AAD users, not the personal account.
UPDATE:
For personal account which uses Delegated permission (you have tried in Microsoft Graph Explorer), the authority endpoint is https://login.microsoftonline.com/commonm/oauth2/v2.0/authorize or https://login.microsoftonline.com/consumers/oauth2/v2.0/authorize.
But when you use client credential flow with Application permission, you have to specify the tenant id in the request https://login.microsoftonline.com/{tenant id}/oauth2/v2.0/authorize.
Although your personal account is added into the tenant as a guest user, it doesn't have EXO license (based on test we are unable to assign EXO license to it), so it won't be hosted in O365.
That is why we can't use client credential flow with personal account.
I am trying to use the Microsoft Graph API to configure an Azure B2C instance. Specifically, I need to create UserFlows and IdentityProviders. For this purpose, I have created an AppRegistration with IdentityProvider.ReadWrite.All and IdentityUserFlow.ReadWrite.All API application permissions for the Microsoft Graph. I am able to call the APIs for creating new user flows and identity providers without a problem, but I am unable to link flows to an identity provider. Whenever I use any of the linking API's, I get an error:
AADB2C (User Authorization: Access is denied)
As an example, I get this when trying to list registered identity providers for specific user flow, i.e.
GET https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/identity/b2cUserFlows/B2C_1_{flowId}/identityProviders
The response for this request is a 403 with
{
"error": {
"code": "AADB2C",
"message": "User Authorization: Access is denied.",
"innerError": ...
}
}
I am using the Beta API as described in the docs here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/b2cuserflows-list-identityproviders?view=graph-rest-beta&tabs=http. I get the samme error when trying to link a user flow with an identity provider as described in the documentation here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/b2cuserflows-update-identityprovider?view=graph-rest-beta&tabs=http
Any idea why I keep getting this authorization block?
Update: I have tried expanding the .IdentityProviders property on a userflow when reading it from the graph api. This does not give a 403, but the identity providers list, on the returned user flow, is empty even when providers have been manually added to the flow in the Azure Portal.
Please ensure to comply with this:
