I've installed Node.js on Windows 10 using this tutorial. I set the system variable for it as shown below [also explained in this SO post. But when I run the following command in the command prompt, I get the following error:
Error
Nodejs environment variable:
UPDATE
I'm just starting with learning Node.js. Below you can find (pics) is the way I'm trying to access Node.js on my windows 10 machine. It's not working. What should I do instead?
If you've correctly installed NodeJS on your machine you should be able to do the following:
Go to start and search for Node.js [ a 'desktop app' should appear with a green icon having the exact same name you entered -Can't miss it :) ]
I suggest opening it as an administrator -[not really necessary, but to avoid (possible) further problems ]
Open that, and try typing the same command e.g. console.log('What about now? :)')
Since you like pictures, here you go :)

Just installed B4A as it's shown on the official website and i still can't build & run an example project (Hello world).
I installed the app on my cellphone too and successfully connected to it, installed B4A Designer as the firt app asked to.
I'm getting this error, sorry it's in French. But basically it says that it doesn't find a file (i m wondering which one...).
enter image description here
Install exactly has shown here:B4A installation
Especially at Step 2 this: Download the required resources. Click on that link.
That step I forgot too. And then you get errors.
If you follow exactly without haste. It will work OK.
I am new to repl.it and I was trying to print the python version using this code Print Version of the Python Running on the Machine
Here's the code:
import sys
print("Python version")
print (sys.version)
print("Version info.")
print (sys.version_info)
but it prints absolutely nothing. Trying to do the same thing onto Jupyter Notebook and my code works. While I know I can print the version directly from the shell tab out there but I was wondering what's wrong with my code and why it isn't working with repl.it
This seems to be the same for user input as well where I try to do
name = input("Print my name?\n")
but it prints absolutely nothing onto the console. I am sure someone here must know what am I missing here. Sorry if this is a noob question.
"Help! 🙋 My REPL won't run"
Here are six reasons your Python REPL.it environment may not be working. 📃
Checklist to fix common problems
Have you configured your Run ▶️?
Repl.it doesn't automatically run your current working document. Configuring your Run ▶️ button will enable replit to know what to do when you hit the button.
Configuring the "Run" Button
A file named .replit can be added to any repl in order to customize the behavior of the "Run" button. Written in toml, a .replit file looks something like:
run = "<run command here>"
language = "<repl language>" # optional
In the snippet above, run is a string which will be executed in the shell whenever you hit the "Run" button. The language helps the IDE understand how to provide features like packaging and code intelligence. This is normally configured for you when you clone from a Git repository.
The .replit file can also provide other configuration hints. The full specification is provided below:
run: Command that is executed when the run button is clicked
language: Reserved
onBoot: Command that is executed once when the repl first starts up
packager.afterInstall: Command that is executed after a new package is installed
packager.ignoredPaths: List of paths to ignore while attempting to guess packages (More about installing packages)
packager.ignoredPackages: List of modules to never attempt to guess a package for, when installing packages (More about installing packages)
Example .replit File
run="python main.py"
language="python3"
onBoot="echo Booting up!"
[packager]
afterInstall="date >> package_install_log"
ignoredPaths=[".git"]
ignoredPackages=["twitter", "discord"]
Attempt running the *.py script through the interactive shell instead of console. If the script runs in console, you may be needing to diagnose the shell. See choices below.
Check that the Browser Developer Console is not showing any errors If you see errors, you may be having issues with your browser or extensions. Try disabling browser extensions temporarily.
REPL.it relies on Google Cloud Platform services for its backend functionality and sometimes those servers are unresponsive. Check the REPL.it status page or the REPLIT Twitter account to see if they're having a GCP backend service outage. If they haven't updated recently, they may be responding to an unreported outage. Check Google's own GCP status page here. You can also Tweet at the CEO of Repl.it here.
Try refreshing the REPL.it environment locally. Clear the console output and scroll-back by using the ✖️ next to the search icon 🔍. Also, try exiting the Python REPL with exit() to see if it will respond.
If #5 doesn't work, try an empty-cache hard reload. This can help to expunge unresponsive javascript, broken html, misbehaving css, and any unmetabolized toxins from the bowels of your browser.
I have just installed python3.8 and sublime text editor. I am attempting to run the python build on sublime text but I am met with "Python was not found but can be installed" error.
Both python and sublime are installed on E:\
When opening cmd prompt I can change dir and am able to run py from there without an issue.
I'm assuming that my sublime is not pointing to the correct dir but don't know how to resolve this issue.
This isn't a Sublime issue, it's a Windows 10 issue. My Windows 10 boxes don't have this feature so I'm not sure how widely spread it is, but you may want to check out this (seemingly unrelated) question "Permission Denied" trying to run Python on Windows 10.
The general gist from this post is that these new stub redirectors are supposed to direct you into installing some missing applications from the Windows App store and that user-installed versions are supposed to take priority, but depending on how the PATH is modified the system might find the stub versions before your user installed versions.
The currently accepted answer mentions:
The second part of correcting it is to type "manage app execution aliases" into the Windows search prompt and disable the store versions of Python altogether.
It's possible that you'll only need to do the second part, but on my system I made both changes and everything is back to normal now.
In the comments, there are comments from Zooba which further indicate that this is the way to go:
(Microsoft employee and CPython core developer here) You definitely only need to do the second part. There have been a couple of bugs related to upgrading apps resetting aliases which will be fixed in the next stable update, so it should be a one-time fix by then. While you're getting Insiders updates you may need to do it a couple more times.
... And launching the Store is a new feature to help people install Python - if you've added it to PATH using the regular installer it should take precedence over the new redirector, but if not you've discovered above how to disable it.
i had the same problem, so i went to the microsoft store (windos 10) and simply installed "python 3.9" and problem was gone!
sorry for bad english btw
this is my first time on such a prestidigious site, so please welcome me by assisting me. I am doing independent development and am primarily a music designer. So that is why I may not sound like a real pro coder but nevertheless truly love creating my music through automative processes.
My present issue is this:
Windows 8.1 Pro
AutoHotkey 1.0.48.5 32bit (running as Admin)
Everytime I attempt to use the command 'RUN' with an .ahk target, I get the expected result except that the .ahk residing folder is opened by MS Explorer. I suspect that something like the fact that AutoHokey is an unsigned app, windows does not want it to run flawlessly. I am now trying a number of Administrative Tool Services disabling, but with no success yet.
RUN C\:XZN\Mecanisms\AnyAHK_script.ahk
;;or
RUN AnyAHK_script.ahk, C\:XZN\Mecanisms
;;or
RUN C\:XZN\Mecanisms\BactchfileLaunchingAboveScript.bat
;;or
RUN AnyAHK_script.ahk, C\:XZN\Mecanisms
Would there be a workaround this at the OS settings level or another way to run/start an .ahk file?
I tried the 'Comspec' approach as well as running an .ahk from within a batchfile, but the .ahk always get intercepted whenever it contains a 'RUN' command requesting an .ahk target.
Thanks.
You are using outdated version of AutoHotkey which is more than 5 years old. Always use AutoHotkey and its documenatation from http://ahkscript.org/ (current uptodate version, new official website)! AutoHotkey and its documentation from autohotkey.com is outdated and you may have some problems using them!
One thing to try if you only have this problem on win 8 is to Enable interaction with administrative programs http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/70449-enable-interaction-with-administrative-programs/
That script modifies the executable file's embedded manifest, then creates and installs a self-signed certificate and uses it to sign the file. The executable will not run on any other system, unless you install the certificate used to sign the file.
But lets see some script code that way we have something to test with and can better help you out...
I've been following along with the actual MongoDB docs here
as well as several tutorial articles that are getting me absolutely nowhere.
Running a 64bit windows OS (which is a work computer, and my particular windows login is not an administrator login.. so I make sure to open any exe files as administrator). I can't do anything in the terminal beyond "mongo" or "use [db name]".
I cannot save or add anything like db.testData.insert( j ). Even typing "show dbs", I get an error that says
listDatabases failed:{ "ok" :0, "errmsg" : "unauthorized" } at src/mongo/shell/mongo.js:46
With every example I've followed, I can never seem to be "authenticated" to get past point A. Please help me! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong at this point.
UPDATE:
Sorry for the confusion, everyone. The problem turned out to be that I had an old MongoDB service still running in the background that I needed to disable.
The service must have been turned on while I was testing out some node packages or something. Once I disabled the service, everything started working as expected.
So for those of you who are having trouble, make sure you open up services.msc and make sure nothing is running MongoDB
As there isn't a formal installer for Windows, I'd recommend you delete the data folder and restart. Out of the box, there is no security in MongoDb, so you've followed a step which later requires a password. Either retrace your steps, or start over.
You don't need to switch to the admin Database. I'd suggest you instead switch to a test database for example:
> use test
switched to db test
By default, without extra configuration, on Windows you can delete the contents of c:\data\db when MongoDb isn't running (but if you're using a configuration file that specifies the dbpath, delete the contents of that folder).
There are a number of tutorials with details of how to configure users/security with Mongodb that you may want to read after you've resolved this issue.
There's little reason to create users and administrative control with MongoDB until you gain some experience with the platform. In fact, I wouldn't recommend it at all. It just gets in the way as you're seeing for no real gain.
