Excel power view is not working on my computer - excel

When i try to create a power view report it just generates the following image:
Only after i close and re-open the excel i get the power View tab, but this image is still there and the data i want to visualize is not. Does anyone knows how to fix this issue?
i found only 1 related page on the net but this solution does not make a lot of sense, and anyway it only works with 2 computers:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_excel-mso_winother-mso_2013_release/excel-powerview-error-image/28564661-ebc1-426c-8f56-e6bb96d14d4a
Any help will be highly appreciated!!
Best regards,
Mihail

For anyone who might need this in the future.
You need to install Silverlight on your computer: https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default
If issue is till not fixed, install the enable controls from here: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Registry-keys-to-reenable-7cd9f723
Now it should work!
Best regards,
Mihail

The same happened to me in Excel from MS Office Professional Plus 2016.
I downloaded the EnableControls pack and executed EnableSilverLight.reg.
Then I was able to click the Power View button and create a "Power View1" tab, but instead of Power View panes I get only that same image.
But then I found, by this (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/powerview-image-error-in-office-365-online/81baa2c5-1c9c-4d36-b424-60ad59696005) answer in Microsoft Community, that I didn't had SilverLight installed.
After installing by Mihail's link (item 1) it worked fine!

How to hook a Window Form within Microsft Excel from VBA?

I'm trying to hook a Window Form within Microsoft Excel itself like on the attached picture (This is an Addin called Kutools).
It is supposed to:
Fit on the right side of the Row number
Be Just below the name box
Be resizable and the window is resizable with it as well
Be collapsible or Expandable (like on the image)
I prefer to use the internal VBA of Excel to build and hook it as much as possible. But if I have to use an external Editor (Visual Studio C# or VB. Net ...) I'm willing to follow the instruction.
I searched all over the web but couldn't find a way to do this. I definitely appreciate your kind assistance on this.
Thanks for your help, I'm open to any suggestion!
If I am not mistaken, you are trying to create a custom task pane for Excel (add-in). If so, then this link might help you, but you need to build it with Visual studio using Office development tools:

VBA Ribbon validate imageMso

I'm creating a custom ribbon in Excel, and I'm using ImageMso's for icons. I downloaded the full list of Icons from Microsoft, and tried to create a menu that displays them all for me to choose, but some of them are not displaying.
Is there any way to validate if an imageMso code does not work with the current version of windows, and display a placeholder in it's place instead of a blank icon?
Thanks,
Daniel
In my experience the short answer is no, but I also haven't investigated or attempted to resolve it with any great tenacity. If it doesn't show up I will retry with a different icon.
Note that I am not an expert by any means, but have been playing around with customUI for a while.
There is a great free Add-In I found that helps with speeding up the whole process of identifying suitable icons. It's worth checking it out.

PS. I hear this is particularly an issue going into the Office 2019.

3rd party Program focus

thanks for your amazing support!
Now i have again a question. To get access to some raw datas (i'm working in a call center) we using a website to get an CSV/xls file from our SQL Database (the IT Department doesnt allow me to get direct access to the SQL database).
For an automatic update of my sheet i use an shell command to trigger chrome with the right parameters in the link (chrome starts the download).
Everything works fine but, when i trigger Chrome per shell, i have to minimize chrome again (otherwise you can't see the Excel screen). So i can't find an command to minimize external windows so i'm using shell to minimize all, after that i maximize excel again, works great, but after excel has done the updates, it should activate "VLC Media Player", i tried to use AppActivate for that, but its just blikink orange in the taskbar and dont get focus.
Can you help me?
I can share you the code but it's really just the AppActivate() line that interest you :)
Thanks again!

NirCmd from NirSoft is what you need.

Userform toolbox additional controls dialogue window not showing

While using MS Excel (Outlook, Word, or Power Point as well apparently) I create a userform. The toolbox shows up showing controls tab and 16 icons representing various controls. When I right click in some empty space in the tool box control area, a menu comes up listing "additional controls" at the top and two greyed out options below it. When I select "additional controls" a spinning blue circle appears briefly then disappears and nothing happens.
It is my understanding that a dialogue box should open at this point and I should be able to select some additional controls.
I noticed the problem while trying to follow a video on how to data scrape for my personal project which I asked for help here.
What I have tried
Creating a user form on another computer and then importing it to this one. No success.
Repairing MS Excel. This resulted in a full reinstall I believe as I had to re enter my product key. No success.
Resetting various registry keys as mentioned in this article. No success.
KB 369383 as mention as part of the process above. No success.
Issue described here but no solution, just a work around to something to what the person was trying to add.
Setting MS Excel to run in compatibility mode. There was no compatibility mode listed as an option under properties for the desktop icon.
Running as administrator even though my Windows account has admin rights. No change.
Cleaning the registry with both ccleaner and wise registry cleaner.
Running Excel in safe mode using excel.exe /s. Confirmed with (safe mode) in the title bar. No success.
My System
Windows 10
MS Office Professional 2013 - 32
(Note, no crystal reports added that I am aware of)
Additional Info
I tried another Windows 10 machine running same version of MS Office and it worked there, so it should not solely be a Windows 10 issue. My machine was an upgrade from Windows 7 - 64. The other machine was an upgrade from windows 8.
I created a new Windows user account and the dialogue box comes up for that account. At least now we know that its SOMETHING to do with my user account/profile.
I found a solution to 'my' problem after spending 2-3 nights over this. It turned out to be a very simple and not-so-intuitive fix.
My problem was that when I right-click on the Toolbox, I do not even get to see the "Additional Control" option in the menu.
Click on the userform, so that its selected.
Now go to Tools and Additional Controls is no longer greyed out. :)
Make sure the the Toolbox window is selected first then click on the Tools menu and Additional Controls should then be visible
In my case it was the toolbox that needed to be selected and not the userform.
When toolbox is selected, bam! the "Additional Controls" is no longer greyed out.

SSRS report design view disappeared in VSS 2012

I have been using VSS 2012 to build SSRS reports for a year or two, and have suddenly lost the report design view. This is the view that shows the "Design" and "Preview" panes. If I open a report by rightclicking on it in the Solution Explorer, nothing appears to happen. I can see the Report Data pane, but not the Design and Preview tabs. I've searched Microsoft help pages for a shortcut key to display it, but have found nothing; there are shortcut keys for the Report Data pane, but not for the design view, as far as I can tell.
I suspect this is a newbie error of some kind, and I apologize in advance if so, but I've spent a good deal of time looking into the menus and MS help pages to no avail, so I'd appreciate any help.
After repeatedly opening and closing both the individual reports and solutions, I was able to fix this by closing the solution, then closing VSS completely, then re-opening it and re-opening the solution. It looks like it was a glitch; I suspect the view is not meant to ever not display. I hope this helps someone else.
