I have a process which zips a file and emails it on. The process works most of the time. However, every so often I get an error message similar to the below.
ERROR: System Exception : Could not execute code stage because exception thrown by code stage: Could not find a part of the path 'T:\Path\Folder\File.zip'.
This is strange as it is able to find the original excel file, then zip it.
If I use the location from the error message I am able to find the file.
Is there an issue with the time it takes for the machine to find the file? Is this a bug?
It may happen that the file is getting zipped and you are trying to pick it up for sending mail, So solution Can be
Give some wait of 1 or 2 sec after zipping (as it may require some time for finishing work Not sure.)
While sending mail please ensure the file exists at location
If Point 2 is true, send the email with attachment
If point 2 is false, Raise the error to main process: "Zipped file not found"
After the zipping the files, if not created/zipped retry for 3 time or you can raise the error "Error: while zipping the files".
Ensure that zip file name should not contain any special character like ` , :
By doing so, we can able to find where the exact error is, whether is is on zipping code or file existence.

I have troubles to get snakemake-minimal=7.8.5 to run on Windows 10. I can execute rules, but snakemake terminates due to an error regarding the metadata:
Failed to set marker file for job started ([Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\test\\project\\.snakemake\\incomplete\\cnVucy9leHBlcmltZW50XzAzL2RmX2ludGVuc2l0aWVzX3Byb3RlaW5Hcm91cHNfbG9uZ18yMDE3XzIwMThfMjAxOV8yMDIwX04wNTAxNV9NMDQ1NDcvUV9FeGFjdGl2ZV9IRl9YX09yYml0cmFwX0V4YWN0aXZlX1Nlcmllc19zbG90XyM2MDcwLzE0X2V4cGVyaW1lbnRfMDNfZGF0YS5pcHluYg=='). Snakemake will work, but cannot ensure that output files are complete in case of a kill signal or power loss. Please ensure write permissions for the directory C:\test\project\.snakemake
I tried to troubleshoot doing the following
change the folders: Documents, User folder, and like the above in the root folder of my c drive
I tried to manipulate the security settings: Controlled folder or RandsomWare Access, see discussion -> it is deactivated
If I erase the .snakemake it is re-creating upon execution, so I assume I have write access. However, some security setting is disallowing the long filename with the hash
I tried the same workflow on a different Windows 10 machine and there I don't get the error, so I assume it is some windows issue.
Did anyone encounter the same error and found a solution?
I agree it is due to the length of the filename. It seems the default max filename length is 260. The file you pasted has a length of 262. You can edit the registry to allow longer filenames. Also consider opening an issue in snakemake to improve the documentation or otherwise address this issue for windows machines.
Background:
I have an Excel file that is a workflow tool for one of our teams. One of the key processes is importing data from csv files and then uploading into MS Access. This part of the process works fine every time, no errors.
I added a new process to the tool, similar to the one mentioned above, this process scans data from one sheet and if a row meets a criteria it is copied into another sheet. Once the analysis is complete it gets uploaded into MS Access using the following code:
objAccess.DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acImport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel9, "tb_age_extract", Application.ActiveWorkbook.FullName, True, "AGEUPLOADDATA"
The strange thing is this will run ok for me but when the users try and run it they get a runtime error 3051, the full error message is:
The Microsoft Access database engine cannot open or write to the file '\Folder1\Folder 2\FileName.xlsm'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data.
I ran a test using a 50 count loop, all 50 runs ran ok with no errors, then the user tries to run it and they get the error. I have also experienced the error as well on my machine.
What is puzzling is the error is sporadic.
Has anyone experienced something similar with a 3051 error?
I have codes to watch a folder and open to read new files. When new file(s) fall into folder program works and do what it should do. Problem is related with other next file(s). If another file(s) fall into folder, program is giving "File is being used by another process" error message. I already read every similar questions in Stackoverflow and in Google. But non of them solved my problem. I don't think that problem is with my codes since when I assign same codes to a button and click manually after file falls to folder, program is working properly. But when FileSystemWatcher runs those codes it gives error at second time. Is there anyone who can advise a solution ?
I couldn't find the reason of the problem but I found my own solution.
I gave-up using FileSystemWatcher, instead I created a timer for 1 minute and at the end I check file quantity in the folder. If there is any change, I run the main codes. Now my problem has been fixed.
I am facing a problem with a program i am developing in Python 3.6 under Windows 10.
One particular command generates an unknown error, windows throws a 'program.exe has stopped working' message and the program exits.
The command is a 3d-model loader that is part of another python package (Panda3D). The crash is always associated with this command (and more particularly with a specific dll of the loader) and a particular file that it tries to open.
Since i cannot locate and therefore solve the faults in the dll (probably there is a bug there) i would like to just pass the problematic file and continue to the next one. But since python exits and i do not know the error type, the typical try, except does not work.
So, i would like to know if there is a way to predict this type of behavior in my code and prevent the program from exiting.
Many thanks for any help.
The pop-up "Program.exe has stopped working." can be caused by a variety of things and therefor there is no "one size fits all" type solution. But if you're certain that your problem is cause by a specific line of code you can always try something along the lines of :
try:
loader.loadModel("c/path/to/your/file")
except Exception as e:
print(e.message, e.args)
# your error-handling code here
Make sure the file path that you're giving to loadModel respects the following :
# WRONG:
loader.loadModel("c:\\Program Files\\My Game\\Models\\Model1.egg")
# RIGHT:
loader.loadModel("/c/Program Files/My Game/Models/Model1.egg")

I have an MFC App which fires up a separate thread for downloading some files via cURL. At the start it downloads a text file with file sizes and last write times. Then it checks the files on disk and queues it for downloading if it has different values.. The problem is; the CreateFile call in the thread arbitrarily returns INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE. I always do CloseHandle() after a successful CreateFile(). The failing files are just random. Sometimes a file in the root dir, another time a file in a nested directory. The problem is not related to localization or directory/file names since sometimes all checks pass but sometimes don't. GetLastError() return 2 or 3 on occasion which are "File not found" / "Path not found" respectively.
When I put the function checking the file write times and size straight into the OnInitDialog() function, everything works. This smells like a multithreading issue but I double-checked everything from memory allocations to file handles.
The same code works in a console application also in a separate thread.
The platform is Win7 64bit.
Linking statically to the runtime and MFC.
in my case GetCurrentDirectory() returned the system32 path after some time so my code failed because of credentials. I fixed the issue by determining file paths manually (getting the exe path at the start and use it from there on...) . Make sure you are not trying to write to/read from a privileged location on disk. Check your paths.
