I have 3 separate Azure subscriptions that have identical and each subscription is paired to an environment e.g. dev, uat, prod. Under each sub/env I have identical Application Insight instances for each application that I deploy. Within each Application Insight instance I construct several dashboard widgets/charts/analytics and pin them to my custom published dashboard. Currently for each instance I have to recreate each widget/chart/analytic and pin them to a dashboard. Is there any way to clone a dashboard or widget to point to another Application Insight instance? I tried using the Azure Resource API but did not get solid results.
In order to clone dashboard tiles and edit the analytics queries from one dashboard to another, do the following:
Download the first dashboard json.
Open the json, search for ResourceId property.
Replace the ResourceId to the desired ResouceId application which you'd like to monitor.
You can get the ResourceId of an application from the Overview blade:
For example for this application:
image of my application you can get it from the url: subscriptions/7948c75a-ee6e-4c34-b391-52ba5dca56dd/resourceGroups/raz_group/providers/microsoft.insights/components/raz_test1 be sure to clear the /overview in the end.
After replacing the ResourceId, delete the SubscriptionId, ResourceGroup and Name properties near it. You don't need those.
Go to the second dashboard (or create a new one) and upload the new json.
Please tell me if something isn't clear,
Thanks.
Azure Dashboards can be deployed using Azure Resource Manager templates. Here is a document that details the operation.

I am working on a requirement where I have a Bot deployed in Azure and I need to add a feature to perform a search in confluence site based on the word user types. I have written a search request using httpClient in .Net which calls Confluence search API (https://wiki.XXXXX/ctl=siteSearch~(myword)).
I have tested the application in my local and it is working totally fine and I am able to get search results. But I am getting the below exception when deployed to Azure.
The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found
Could you please help me here on why and what might be the issue. Also is there anyway I can add confluence site in Azure portal.
Error message “The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found”, seems to be associated with the Winsock “WSANO_DATA” error code. It means, there is some issue with the DNS record of the server which you are trying to connect.

Deploying Confluence Data Center to Azure via Azure marketplace
This method uses the Azure Marketplace to deploy Confluence Data Center using our deployment templates as a reference.
To deploy Confluence Data Center to Azure using our Marketplace app:
Log in to Azure Portal.
Choose Create a resource to start a new deployment
Search for Atlassian then select Confluence Data Center from the list of Marketplace apps
Choose Create to start configuring the deployment
Follow the prompts in the wizard to configure your deployment. Refer to the parameters table below for more information.
Confirm all the details are correct then click Create to purchase the subscription.
Deployment will take about 30 minutes.
Once deployment is complete, go to the Confluence URL (APPENDPOINT) listed in the deployment outputs to complete onboarding and start using Confluence.

I have an Azure webapp and normally if I want to block an IP address, I go to Azure dashboard panel and under networking>Configure Access Restrictions, I add a rule to do so. This picture shows which menu item I mean:
However, I would like to do this programmatically. I see that the documentation shows how you can do this through Powershell.
I have also managed to find the API documentation for WebApp. But I can't find the last piece of the puzzle which is the API that does what I need.
Can someone please tell me if it is possible and which API I should use? Thank you in advance.
According to the doc: Use an Azure REST API PUT operation on the app configuration in Azure Resource Manager. The location for this information in Azure Resource Manager is:
management.azure.com/subscriptions/subscription ID/resourceGroups/resource groups/providers/Microsoft.Web/sites/web app name/config/web?api-version=2020-06-01
Then I searched the Azure Rest API and found this:
PUT https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/{subscriptionId}/resourceGroups/{resourceGroupName}/providers/Microsoft.Web/sites/{name}/config/web?api-version=2019-08-01
We could update the field properties.ipSecurityRestrictions to update the value of Access Restrictions.
In addition, you could also check this blog: Bulk add IP Access Restrictions to Azure App Service using Az PowerShell
There does not appear to be a one-to-one match between powershell commands and api.
The closest I could find is:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/appservice/webapps/putprivateaccessvnet
This allows you to define which vnet has access to your web app. By controlling access to your vnet, you can control access to your app.
I am new to Azure. I know this is weird question.
But, when I am creating any Storage Account or a VM or say any service instance, I am not able to list it in the service listing after creating. Looks like its created but disappeared.
Due to it, Azure is charging me as I cannot delete the service(e.g a VM) that I created.
Anyone has any insight into this.
You can list/delete it with by using Azure CLI or Azure Powershell Az module.
Did you try checking the notification panel on the top right. Whatever resources are created, it will appear in notification saving "deployed/in progress/etc". Click on go to resource if notification shows it. Also check the dashboard page, if any recent resources are available.
Image shows the home page with recent resources and showing the notification panel.
You can also check your cost analysis. Go to your subscription -> Click on Pay-as-you-go -> Under cost management -> Cost Analysis.
Cost Analysis will tell you, for what services and resources you are getting charged. You can filter the result and view it by resource.
Hope this helps.
Scenario:
One team had built one application, and application is running on azure.
maintenance is taken care by same team, we don't want to give full access of production instance to developer team, but want to give read permission, like - monitoring of logs, cpu usages etc.
Solution according to me is build an application which will get dashboard data and log data from azure via api and that data will be displayed to development team.
I am referring these 2 links
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn722415.aspx
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/documentation/articles/api-management-get-started/
Question:
Still I am not able to find api which will give the dashboard data. if anyone know api for the same, please help.
Is there any alternative solution for this scenario.
If you deploy your app using the new Azure Resource Manager mode, it provides a Role Based Access Control to your resources. You can deploy your app inside a Resource Group and provide read access to your developers. They will be able to view the information about the services that your app are made of but without the option to change anything.

I currently have a Web Application and SQL Database instance published on my own personal Azure trial subscription. However the app is now finished and I want to hand ownership over to the person I am creating it for. So I want to publish it to his Azure subscription, so he can look after billing, monitor, and have ownership of the application etc.
I asked him to add me as a user to his account, and now I see his company name listed as a 'Directory' from the portals home page (along with my Default Directory, my Web App, and my SQL Database). I don't know how to proceed from here. I want to be able to Publish it from Visual Studio 2013 - then run my code first migrations to create the database, all to a location that his company and not me is responsible for.
Is my approach to this wrong? In a general sense, how do you develop a test application (and test it in Azure) and publish it for someone else on Azure?
The first comment on the question is sort of what I am trying to achieve:
Transfer all data from my account to another in the same Azure subscription
"What do you mean by from my account to another in the same Azure subscription? Normally I have seen folks want to move data from one subscription to another one (say from Dev Subscription to Prod Subscription)."
But if I just transfer the app I wouldn't be able to make changes in VS and re-publish it, for example.
EDIT:
I found this article on Migrating an enterprise web app to an Azure service. Would it be possible to Publish the app to my local dev machine (with local database), then use the Migration Assistance to move it to Azure? Obviously to do this I would need my clients Microsoft ID and password to log into his subscription which is not ideal.
You will first want to make sure that the subscription appears in your "Subscription list" in the top right corner and is selected.
I am assuming you have connected your VS with your Azure subscription and are able to publish your app to your subscription from here, and that the new subscription is "missing" from your selection. But now you have been added to a new subscription but have not updated VS. Remove and readd Azure Subscriptions from VS. This should require you to log into Azure, and should pull updated account information.
Now when you Deploy your app, you will be able to select which Subscription you want to deploy it into.
