Plowshare with disabled JS interpreter - linux

I try to use plowshare to download files with command line but on ubuntu I got this error: "Use of Javascript interpreter is disabled in debian for security."
I've found that I should add environmental variable: "PLOWSHARE_DEBIAN_JS=yes"
I added it to ".bashrc" in home directory, with source after that but it doesn't work, i can't find anything what can help, anyone know how can i enable JS?

Not sure if you found a resolve. But I fixed this issue by command export PLOWSHARE_DEBIAN_JS=yes then you might encounter another issue like "Javascript interpreter not found. Please install one" just install nodejs sudo apt-get install nodejs

How to install KUDO Kubectl Plugin in linux without using brew?

I am new in creating Kubernetes operators and found we can easily make one using the KUDO (Kubernetes Universal Declarative Operator) plugin. From the documentation, KUDO was installed using brew https://kudo.dev/docs/cli.html#setup-the-kudo-kubectl-plugin. Can anyone suggest a method to setup KUDO in linux without using linuxbrew-wrapper ?
Found a workaround to fix the kudo plugin in linux reducing the overhead of installing brew.
apt install linuxbrew-wrapper
brew install kudo-cli
First you figure out the corresponding package from the release page, which is compatible to your machine. Download and extract the file (my case : kudo_0.10.1_linux_x86_64.tar.gz) and there you can find the executable for kubectl-kudo.
Export the path :
export PATH=$PATH:/path/to/downloaded/executable/
You are almost done and can find the commands working. Try kubectl kudo version.
To make it permanent add this export line into your .bashrc and reload.

NDK_ROOT undefined. Please define

I am trying to compile these library into my android code https://sdk.dronecode.org/en/contributing/build.html . This library has C/C++ written code. Therefore NDK will be used here.
When I try to hit the command sudo make android install I get this error:
Makefile:152: *** NDK_ROOT is undefined, please point the environment variable to android-ndk root.. Stop.
I have set the environment variable into my .bashrc file . But still getting this error, please help me out to get this compiled. I am using ubuntu 16.04. I have checked the other links "NDK_ROOT not defined. Please define NDK_ROOT in your environment" but couldn't helped much.
sudo does not source .bashrc
You can try directly running the command with your env explicitly defined
i.e. sudo NDK_ROOT=xxxxx make android install
or follow the advices here, using .profile

Shopify's 'slate' package not running after installation

I just installed Shopify's 'Slate' package using npm.
Terminal shows that the package was added to '/.npm-packages/lib'.
However, when I attempt to build a new shopify theme using the command 'slate theme newthemename', the command isn't found...
...even though slate clearly was installed.
Curious to figure out what I'm doing wrong, so any help/advice is much appreciated!
Please execute the below command from your terminal.
npm link #shopify/slate
Basically this command creates a symlink to your package folder, it will check for the global (npm) modules first, and will check for the local modules if there is no match.

Your installation of slate is successful. However, the slate program (slate/lib/index.js) is not added to environment variable PATH, that's why error command not found is reported.
To fix this issue, a simple method is add slate/lib/index.js to PATH manually. For example, create a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin/ and make it point to slate/lib/index.js:
sudo ln -s /<absolute_path>/#shopify/slate/lib/index.js /usr/local/bin/slate
Please note the first parameter of ln -s must be absolute path. If relative path is used, Mac OS X (I'm on 10.12.6) won't help to translate it.

teach me how to set up a path correctly

I installed casperjs by npm install command on my mac os x.
But, when I try using casperjs in command line, it gives me the error below.
$ casperjs cas.js
-bash: /usr/local/bin/casperjs: No such file or directory
I checked if casperjs is installed by using which command.
The result is below.
$ which casperjs
-bash: /Users/Hayato/.nodebrew/current/bin/casperjs
I think what I need to do is to setup a path in a different way so that when I run "casperjs test.js", it runs "/Users/Hayato/.nodebrew/current/bin/casperjs" instead of "/usr/local/bin/casperjs".
But, I'm not familiar with this kind of terminal task, and don't know how to do this.
Please could anyone teach me how to setup a path correctly?

If you want to use casperjs in the directory you specified, add this to your ~/.bash_profile
export PATH=/Users/Hayato/.nodebrew/current/bin/:$PATH
Save the file
That will add all scripts in the /Users/Hayato/.nodebrew/current/bin directory to your path.
After that.. close the terminal and then reopen it:
You can check the path by doing:
echo $PATH
You should see the path you just added.
Then when you do the following:
which casperjs
it should use the new location.
Let me know if this works for you!
But, the issue may be something deeper, did you get errors when you installed casperjs via brew?
You may want to try linking it again using
brew link casperjs
If that doesn't work you may have some permission issues.

I don't want anything that slow down my application so please advice if I should change the JS Engine to Node.js, but my PlayFramework project is using Java on the server side.
You need to install Node.js and then tell the sbt/java engine to use it.
brew install node
Edit .bash_profile and add:
export SBT_OPTS="${SBT_OPTS} -Dsbt.jse.engineType=Node -Dsbt.jse.command=$(which node)"
This eliminated the warning for me on OSX
In Windows:
Install node.js
Go to Control Panel - System and Security - System - Advanced system settings
Click Environment Variables...
Search in System variables for SBT_OPTS
If such exists, click Edit... and concatenate -Dsbt.jse.engineType=Node to Variable value
If such does NOT exist, click New... and write SBT_OPTS to Variable name and -Dsbt.jse.engineType=Node to Variable value
Click OK - OK - OK
Restart any command prompt (cmd, PowerShell) that is currently running Play Framework
in ubuntu
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup | sudo bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
then add as above to your .profile in your home directory

Build again and the warning about using the Trireme stuff should be gone.
As an alternative to setting the environment variable, you can add this line to your build.sbt file:
JsEngineKeys.engineType := JsEngineKeys.EngineType.Node

sbt plugins requiring a JS engine are used only in the build process, and so missing Node.js only slows down assets building stages if you use any.
The built application is not affected.
Anyway, you may want to install node.js to your PATH, where it should be auto-detected.
in Windows 10:
Install node.js from https://nodejs.org/en/
(The installer automatically adds node.js to your PATH)
then add:
export SBT_OPTS="$SBT_OPTS -Dsbt.jse.engineType=Node"
to your plugins.sbt in
. ./project/plugins.sbt
Worked for me - the warning has disappeared!
EDIT:
Apparently plugins.sbt was the wrong place to add the
export SBT_OPTS="$SBT_OPTS -Dsbt.jse.engineType=Node"
...although the warning disappeared when loading my app, it led to an error when relaunching the app a couple of hours later:
error: not found: value export
I would be glad if anyone could help and tell me where to put the export.
