I am trying to apply my XML template to my site on Sharepoint, and I keep getting this warning:
WARNING: The source site from which the template was generated had a base template ID value of SITEPAGEPUBLISHING#0,
while the current target site has a base template ID value of STS#0. This could cause potential issues while applying
the template.
Do you guys have any idea how this can be fixed?
The warning is present because the source site from which you extracted the template is a Modern Communication site whereas the destination on which you are applying template is a classic team site.
This is a warning message not an error. If you apply the template on a Modern Communication site, this warning will not appear. It is a warning to you that there is mismatch between the source and destination site base templates.

I have deployed an SSRS 2008 R2 project into our SharePoint Integration. This worked no problem. I then wanted to add report parts. I converted the DataSource and DataSets to Shared Components and re-deployed. No problem. I then selected the parts that I wanted to publish. Now when I deploy the project I get the error message:
Warning : Referenced item ReportsTo doesn't exist at http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/Shared Documents/Reporting/Datasets/ReportsTo.rsds.
The item ReportsTo is a part that is trying to get published. This has me a little confused. I was under the impression that the rsds file type is soley for DataSources. Given that the path that is in the error is Datasets should it not be looking for a DataSet file?
Any help in resolving this to get the parts published would be greatly appreciated.
I am working in BIDS 2008 R2 not Report Builder
UPDATE:.. After Reviewing the Logs on the Reporting Server I noticed this.
GetPropertiesAction(http://dev-sp01/sites/ThriveReporting/http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/Shared Documents/Reporting/Report Parts/TeamUtilizationOverWeeks_Chart.rsc, PathBased).
It looks like it is trying to merge the Site name with the Fully Qualified Path to the Reports Parts. In BIDS I've tried to change the Report Parts path in the deployment properties to the relative path to the Site Name provided, but it errors out and requests the Fully Qualified path. It would seem that this might be a bug.
So to Recap
When trying to Publish Report Parts
1) Bids Gives me the Warning:
Warning : Referenced item ReportsTo doesn't exist at 'http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/Shared Documents/Reporting/Datasets/ReportsTo.rsds.'
Where ReportsTo is a Shared Dataset, so I beleive this should be looking for an rsd extention. In the Log there is a corresponding action for this but not error
Warning : Referenced item ReportsTo doesn't exist at 'http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/Shared Documents/Reporting/Datasets/ReportsTo.rsds.'
GetItemTypeAction(http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/Shared Documents/Reporting/Datasets/ReportsTo.rsds).
2) Reporting Services does not appear to be creating a path correctly to access a Report Part during deployment.
GetPropertiesAction(http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/http://dev-sp01/sites/CompanyName/Shared Documents/Reporting/Report Parts/TeamUtilizationOverWeeks_Chart.rsc, PathBased).

Upon taking the default sharepoint master page for MySite, making some changes, and making a wsp out of it with WSPBuilder, I come to these errors in my logs:
http://spoint/MySite/_catalogs/masterpage/MySite.master - An unexpected error has been encountered in this Web Part. Error: The control with virtual path '_controltemplates/Welcome.ascx' is not in the safe controls list for web at URL 'http://spoint/MySite'., Source: [UnsafeControlException: The control with virtual path '_controltemplates/Welcome.ascx' is not in the safe controls list for web at URL 'http://spoint/MySite' (stack trace omitted)
http://spoint/MySite/_catalogs/masterpage/MySite.master - An unexpected error has been encountered in this Web Part. Error: The control with virtual path '_controltemplates/DesignModeConsole.ascx' is not in the safe controls list for web at URL 'http://spoint/MySite'., Source: [UnsafeControlException: The control with virtual path '_controltemplates/DesignModeConsole.ascx' is not in the safe controls list for web at URL 'http://spoint/MySite' (stack trace ommited)
So, this masterpage does in fact use these OOTB controls and so I guess I need to get them safecontrolled. And I guess I want to do this via the manifest.xml. But I do not see how to make WSPBuilder do this.
WSPBuilder will only create SafeControls tags for objects that inherits from the "Control" class. This is to speed up processing of the WSP package.
A quick fix, could be to create a empty class that inherits from webcontrol and use the same namespace as the ASCX.
I have a Site Template with few customized lists and customized pages. I create new webs when ever needed using the site template. After creating the web, I also set up a theme and unique permissions to the web using C# code itself, then I redirect the page to the newly created web URL. My code runs within a Long running operation. It works all the time fine, but in some circumstance I get an error "file not found" when the page re-directed to the newly created web.
When I had closer look, I see that the web was properly created and the permissions were set; the pages library & other lists are also found, but the master page gallery is not found. Due to that I could not browse any pages in the page library & I could not even check web theme. When I see the Logs I found the below error.
04/09/2009 14:22:49.35 w3wp.exe (0x11B4) 0x0D0C Windows SharePoint Services General 8z1y Medium Failed to create list "Master Page Gallery" in web "http://rootsite/subsite", HRESULT=0x81020012. List XML: ""
What could cause this issue? I don't get this all time only sometimes I get this issue. There were no errors thrown on code, but the web's master page gallery was not created. Have you ever faced such problem? How can I solve this?
Thanks in advance,
~Yuva
The HRESULT you're getting is from a COM error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x81020012): The specified name is already in use.
Make sure that the gallery you're trying to create is at the web level, not the site or webapplication level. Can you post examples of the URL when it worked vs. when it didn't?
Isn't the master page gallery usually at the site rather than web level? Subsites can use a master page defined by the parent site, so you could be confusing things by trying to define the master pages on the subsite as well.
Inside SharePoint I've previously created a site template by appending _layouts/savetmpl.aspx to the end of my site and new sites have been created correctly and work as expected.
I've now come to do the same thing again and yet this time the new site is throwing an error relating to the page layout.
The error is:
This page is not using a valid page layout. To correct the problem, edit page settings and select a valid page layout.
When I try to select a different one, there is only the one to select. This page layout is in use on other sites and they render fine.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
All the best
First, if you append the _layouts/savetmpl.aspx tho the url, i suppose you dont have it in the Site Settings options, so you are using a Publishing site. This is because Microsoft doesn´t support this option (save as template in publishing sites). And they dont support it because it has some bugs, for sure.
So, I would recommend not using this option in important sites, or if you plan to ask support to Microsoft in the future.
However that error indicates that the page layout or his associated content type (ou parent content types) are not correctly installed in the site collection. Are you using your own (custom) content types? Please confirm if the ID of the associated content type (something like 0x0100C6739B7D12DE419aA2F9A2F96CC26818) is exactly the same in the Page Layout on working sites and in the not working sites.
Hope it helps
Do the sites/site collection where the templates working have all the same features enabled as teh sites/site collection where the template isn't working?
Can you check the server logs? <12 hive>\LOGS
Did you add a custom page layout, use it, and then forget to check that "save content" checkbox when you saved your template?
A SharePoint site template is basically a saved version the differences between a Site Definition and the current state of a site. I've read that Site Templates can only be applied to sites that use the same Site Definition that was used to create the template.
If you have an STP file, how do you determine which Site Definition was used to create the Site Template?
STP files are just ZIP-compressed files. If you rename the extension to *.ZIP you can extract the contents and examine the XML files that will contain the info you are looking for.
I don't have a STP file around so I can't tell you exactly what file to look for but I've done that before and is not that hard to find.
Good luck!
Use these steps to determine what site definition a site template was based on:
Save the .STP site template to a local folder.
Rename it to a .CAB file.
Extract the cab file.
Open the manifest.xml file.
There will be a TemplateID value in the section near the top (e.g. 1)
The TemplateID refers to a site defintion.
Open [12 hive]\TEMPLATE\1033\XML\WEBTEMP.XML.
Find the template name with the ID that corresponds to the TemplateID in the site template manifest file (e.g. )
I'm not sure why, but the site definitions are grouped so that you might not know exactly which site definition was used. For example, Team Site, Blank Site, and Document Workspace all share the same Tempalte ID (1). That should mean that a site template with that ID should be able to be applied to any of those 3 sites.
I have written SharePoint Object Model code list all the sites and the site definition used to create the side. Please see this here:
