I use this code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
But when I login in my website, I still get localhost/administration/administration.php.
I tried .htaccess working, if I insert some random code (like xdxdxd), I get Server Error.

for the last hours I cant seem to figure out why my .htaccess file is redirecting to a blank url. Here is my htaccess file below.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(.*)$
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^id=([0-9]*)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /test/user-profile/%1? [R=301,L]
I am trying to rewrite www.example/test/user-profile?id=4 ->>> www.example/test/user-profile/4
It does rewrite the url, however then the page has "The requested URL was not found on this server." the htaccess file is in public_html folder, so I am trying to select a specific user inside www.exampleurl.com/test/userslist.php which would go to www.exampleurl.com/test/user-profile.php. It all works perfectly before using htaccess. www.example/test/user-profile?id=4 ->>> www.example/test/user-profile/4 but it just wont find the url or file? im a super noob folder path below -> public_html/test/userslist.php & user-profile.php
Just cant seem to figure out what to do. Yes I do have mod-rewrite on.
With your shown samples, please try following htaccess rules file.
This assumes that you are hitting link www.example/test/user-profile?id=4 in browser which is redirecting to www.example/test/user-profile/4 and is being served by index.php with parameters user-profile=user-profile in your url and id=digits in url. You can also change them as per your need.
Make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /test/
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \s/(test/user-profile)\?id=(\d+)\s [NC]
RewriteRule ^ %1/%2? [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^([^/]*/)/([*/]*)/?$ test/user-profile.php?user-profile=$1&id=$2 [QSA,L]
2nd solution: In case someone is hitting url example.com/test/user-profile/7 then try following htaccess rules.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /test/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^([^/]*/)/([^/]*)/(\d+)/?$ test/user-profile.php?user-profile=$1&id=$2 [QSA,L]
I am working on website. I am new with .htaccess, I want to use it for removing category?cid=1/2/3/...so on, from my URL :- http://localhost/Aabhushnam/category?cid=1 but after writing the .htaccess rule
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
RewriteRule ^category/([0-9]+)$ category/?cid=$1 [L]
and refreshing the page I am getting same thing with this url "http://localhost/Aabhushnam/category?cid=1" that's ok, but while changing the URL to http://localhost/Aabhushnam/category/1
I am getting an error:
Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server."
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L] this rule is working its removes .php from my URL's.
Any help?
I am very new to .htaccess files and may have done mine wrong. I have been gathering snippets of code trying to get done what I want.
This is what I have in my file so far
I read this should be in your .htaccess file
Options +MultiViews
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
This was added to force a redirect from HTTP to HTTPS
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
This was added to remove .php at the end of all the files
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
This was added to remove the showing of /index when the home link was pressed
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*\/index?\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(.*)index\.php?$ "/$1" [R=301,L]
I have tried a lot of ideas I found on both here and other sites from Google. I have had no luck hiding the GET request.
Currently, the URL looks like https://mysite.ca/event?id=123
What I would like it to look like is either https://mysite.ca/event/123
This is hosted on Godaddy and it is just a plain PHP site if that makes any difference.
Any ideas would be great!
First of all Options +MultiViews already removes .php extension so you don't need:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ $1.php [NC,L]
About your problem try this Rule:
RewriteRule ^event/([0-9]+)?$ event?id=$1 [NC]
Which changes url from example.com/event/<number> to example.com/event?id=<number>
Although, if your site makes infinite redirects then you should change it to:
RewriteRule ^events/([0-9]+)?$ event?id=$1 [NC]
This happens if you have some includes/headers that redirect back to event and creates infinite loop.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|js|css|images|robots\.txt)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
I have written this .htaccess file when I access localhost/myProject/home in Chrome this works fine but in other browsers it show page not found error
Most likely you need Options +FollowSymLinks. And for more htaccess for codeigniter click on link and download zip At David Connelly's Website. They have about 5 different ones that you could try in zip, no doubt one of them will work. http://www.insiderclub.org/downloads
The one I use below works fine in all browsers for codeigniter. Make sure when you use this or any other htaccess, that you place your domain in base url at config/config.php and then remove the index.php from config/config.php
Options +FollowSymLinks
Options -Indexes
DirectoryIndex index.php
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|robots\.txt)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L,QSA]
i have the following .htaccess code
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php [NC,L]
it works fine on local but its not working on the web. Instead it shows 404 error. What may be the cause of this problem?
