Android studio fails to download SDK - android-studio

I just installed android studio 3.0 on my pc. When I opened it up, it asked me to download the sdk first. So it brought up a window and started downloading. But then.. It doesn't download. I have a good internet connection so I dont think that can be the problem. It keeps trying to download a zip file, fails and starts over and this goes on infinitely. So my question is, is there a way to fix this or otherwise manually download the SDK? The website used to have a bundle which contains both but now it only contains the IDE.

If you would like download those files manually. When You Start The Download For Additional Setup. There would be a link written in logs. I am attaching an image for it. There would be similar images on your screen when downloading. When you would start download, Then Press Show Details Button You would See It As Shown In Figure.
Copy It And Paste On Browser. Extract Those File On Successful Download And Place Them At Path Specified By You For SDKs
See Here and See Here Too

What to do if Android SDK is not found in Android Studio

I have installed Android Studio, but its not locating Android SDK, I even tried to change the directory, but in vain.
Please check the photo to see the problem
go to the SDK manager just like in you image, press on edit, you'll get a setup wizard that will download the SDK files for you, if you think it's already been installed try to use the following directory
C:\Users'your_username'\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk
this is where the SDK is usually downloaded to, also note that the appdata folder is hidden in the file explorer

How to Build Sample Android Location App from GitHub

I downloaded the Main branch of the Sample Android Location App from GitHub as a ZIP file.
https://github.com/android/location-samples
Once on my computer, I unzipped the file to a subdir.
Then in Android Studio (4.1.1), I imported the project by specifying the unzip'd dir.
It opens fine, but I am unsure how to build it.
In addition, Studio editor shows several errors such as "Cannot resolve symbol 'AppCompatActivity'".
Not sure how to proceed now to build, test and debug. I am sure it is something simple I am overlooking. I checked the ReadMe. This is the first time I have attempted to download and Build a project from GitHub Android Samples, so just need a couple pointers.
After unzipping the file, you can import it to AS
Choose the dirrectory with Android icon to open the project
Then it will download the dependencies, jars, SDKs, etc. After downloading, you can refer to the upper right side, where you can choose which App to build, then click the green arrow, gradle will take care of the rest.
If it didn't show the green arrow, the gradle sync might have failed, and you can sync the project by click this

Android Studio upgrade automatic to 2.1 from 1.5 won't work

Ever since version 2.0 there is no way that I can get the button "Update and Restart" back when checking for updates. This missed button downloaded and applied automatically the patch to the newer version. It stopped working when 2.0 came to be. I am currently on 1.5, and would like to get 2.1 but not downloading the zip.
Now all I get is this, which forces me to download the zip file, but doesn't install the application. I have seen other posts related but none of them have solved my problem.
In my case I just had to close that dialog and click again on Check for Updates until 'Update and Restart' appeared. I had to re open the dialog like 3 times.
I had 1.5.1 and updated to 2.1.1
There was no Update and restart button from 1.5 to 2.0. You need to go to download page and download the newest version --> 2.1. If you had a version 2.0 and you want to upgrade to 2.1, the functionality of downloading & restarting would be fully operational.
The differences between 1.5 and 2.0 are too major just to download a patch and update your old Android Studio. Here you have all revisions and changes.
You can still add your settings from the previous Android Studio, so there should be no problem for you.
Steps to install Android Studio from a .zip folder:
If you have Windows:
Open the .zip folder using Windows Explorer.
Click on 'Extract all' (or 'Extract all files') option in the ribbon.
Enter any extract location you like. Extract them.
Go to the extract location. Go to android-studio\bin and run
studio.exe.
Go through the installation wizard. You are done
If you have any other OS:
Go here or here (the second link is preferred).
If you chose the first link then run application and unzip your
folder. If you chose the second link then upload your file, get it
unzipped and download it.
Go to the extract/download location. Go to android-studio\bin and
run the studio executable for your OS.
Go through the installation wizard. You are done.
My Android Studio was 1.5.1. After closing the dialog 2 times and checking again for the update solved the issue. Got the "Update and Restart" button 3rd time

android studio not working well not displaying packages

hey guys im not new to java but this android studio thing, im definitely not used to it,
so i just want to know what packages/tools i need to download from the sdk manager to get me started (im currently dev' apps to be run on api 2.3 gingerbread devices )
From the sdk manager this is what i did,
i downloaded and installed all the latest android sdk build tools, sdk platiform for 4.4 and 5.0
then i also downloaded the whole 2.3 api 10 since its what i was developing for....
after that when i start android studio, just right in the work space where you see the 'package' menu
i get nothing displaying,i mean even all the api i installed i still get nothing.
anybody who been using this tool can gimme help.thx
kind regards C.B!
When you open SDK manager, right click on the .exe and select
"Run As Administrator".
Don't open it from within android studio, find the exe file on your machine. Worked for me when I ran into that problem.
EDIT: You may need to download the sdk separately form here: https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html?hl=i
Click VIEW ALL DOWNLOADS and pick the appropriate 'sdk only' download for your machine.

Insufficient privileges when updating help files in Visual Studio 2012

I have Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and I've downloaded the Visual Studio 2012 ISO from MSDN.
When trying to install the documentation:
I open Visual Studio as an Administrator
Follow these instructions as per the install's ReadMe file
On the menu bar for Visual Studio 2012, choose Help, Add and Remove
Help Content.
Help Viewer 2.0 starts, showing the Manage Content tab.
On the Manage Content tab, choose the Disk option button, choose the
Browse (…) button, and then navigate to the DVD drive.
Choose the helpcontentsetup.msha file, and then choose the Open button.
Under Available Documentation, the list of available content sets from the
DVD appears.
Choose the Add link next to the content set that you want
to install onto your local computer.
The items that you specify appear
in the Pending Changes column. You can remove an item from the Pending
Changes column by choosing the “X” next to the item.
Choose the Update button.
And click Update.
When I click Update, it progresses for about 3-4 seconds, and then it fails with an error:
The following errors occurred while performing the requested tasks:
An error occurred while updating content. You have insufficient
privileges to complete this task.
How can I resolve this issue?
Update
I'm running Help Viewer in Admin mode.
try this. It solved my problem.
change security permission of vs2012doc.iso to full control for your account.
Mount it
Install the documentation ONE BY ONE. Remember ONE BY ONE.
Might it help...
Change your machine date and try again. In my case work with "oct/01/2012".
This was using the Visual Studio 2013 but is likely to be similar to the help of Visual Studio 2012 and probably 2015. I have not tried it so you tell me.
I got the ISO with the help of vs2013 to Microsoft directly. Now I do not remember the address so I did not put it here. It is very easy to get around with google looking for.
When I'm using the Microsoft Help Viewer 2.1 with local installation way I get an error: Insufficient Privileges and not the books are installed.
What I will describe is possible for you to do so more easily. But I could not validate it and then they describe the steps I followed to do so.
The first thing I did was copy the entire contents of the ISO to a folder on my HDD for my comfort my case was in C:\T
With the command prompt navigate to the folder where it was copied from the iso content and the C:\T\Packagesrun the following winrar t * .cab
This causes a test winrar make all cab files and protest whenever any of them is corrupt.
This was to score those files that had to go down again, in my case only had a .cab file with problems
v2Visual_Studio_2011_NET_Framework_4_B1545_VS_100_en-us_13(b0ba5cce-2b72-f582-80f3-8a6165ef6b9b).cab
The following was download it directly from Microsoft in this direction,

http://packages.mtps.microsoft.com/v2Visual_Studio_2011_NET_Framework_4_B1545_VS_100_en-us_13(b0ba5cce-2b72-f582-80f3-8a6165ef6b9b).cab
All other packages I think are there too.
The next thing was to replace the damaged file with the new and final step is to go into the folder where the files of the Visual Studio Help are, in my case I always use to put this folder in a comfortable place for me.
D:\VS_2012_2013_HLP\VisualStudio12
Inside this folder there are other two \Incoming\Cab, we must ensure that the cab folder is completely empty.
The last thing is to enter the Microsoft Help Viewer 2.1 and say that the new power plant is one where we copy the contents of the ISO (D:\T\helpcontentsetup.msha). The rest is just install the books ..
