I've been poking around the internet at large cobbling together some VBA code to try to interact with some web pages (and eventually scrape).
I have some decent knowledge of VB and programming, but the internet end of things is pretty new to me, especially the syntax of commands, so I'm leveraging things from the internet.
I have one that's working,

This I can fill in and get to submit with a
doc.getelementsbyId("coordinate_address").value = range("City").value _
& ", " & range("State").value
doc.getelementsbyId("btn-submit").click
then wait it out until readystate =4 , etc.
The one I can't get to work is here.

This one seems to use a object that I can't figure out how to click. It doesn't seem to have a name, and Id, etc.
If I use conventional 'submit' on the windspeed page, (loosely using that term), the page loads, but it comes out blank. Like I'm not using the syntax correctly, or not passing a variable/searchform somehow.
ie.document.all.item("submit").click
This 'works' but it produces a blank page with the east coast of africa and no data.
In the immediate/console of the browser, after I click, say, the Hawaii button, it works with document.searchform.submit()
If I try that in code, it doesn't work. (The Immediate window in the VBA editor thows me a "expected: =" error,

I've tried a lot of techniques poached from the internet, but no success yet. (looping over elements using getelementsbyclassname "span", but it either doesn't find the one with value ="Get Windspeed", or it doesn't find it at all.
somehow triggering the valbutton (that's a subroutine/function on the page) seems like a workaround... but VBA seems to want different syntax than the console on the web page and it's doing the same kind of "expected: =" syntax error when I try that approach.
I suspect normal submit would work, but I'm somehow not passing the filled out page and am sending a blank to the submit/get?
I also notice that if you are on the page, type in an address, and hit enter, it runs that "find" button I can't figure out (same thing, no name or ID obvious, it's a button....), and if you hit enter after it reloads, then it somehow by default hits that 'get windspeed' button, which suggests to me they are both submit buttons in a way.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate any thoughts on the matter. I am trying to get this to get all the data input and get the results without adding anything beyond VBA (i.e. jscript or vbscript or other things,)

You should be able to simply submit the form after setting the .Value of the inputs.

I was able to adapt this (despite the claim this doesn't work in IE11..., maybe I'm not using 11...Is eleven Miscrosoft Edge?)

that allowed me to mimic hitting the button or hitting submit and somehow got around the 'no information / resulting page is blank' issue. The onclick event has a javascript routine attached to it, so I just copied that syntax.

I am new in VBA and Selenium. Wrote some lines using Selenium ChromeDriver that can open a online data management system, and log in successfully. I need to manually click on a map, and a table pops up where I need to input some data from a excel sheet using VBA. On that online page, I can access all the components using various methods (e.g., FindElementByName, FindElementByXPath, etc.) **except **the edit boxes and the dropdown elements on the popup table. I even can access the buttons on the bottom of the table. Only when I try to access the elements on the table, it give me the RUN TIME ERROR 7 OUT OF MEMORY. I have attached an image but hid some elements due to the confidential nature of the work. I know it is not a lot of information, but if someone can give me some directions I will highly appreciate it.

Check the HTML, it is possible that input_ROUTE is inside an iframe element, and the XPath you get is internal inside the iframe.
If this is the case, you need to first move into the iframe and then turn to the internal component. so:

I have set up the jQuery-Validation-Engine addon (https://github.com/posabsolute/jQuery-Validation-Engine) and it works great on the submit button.
However, since i invoked a tab-based interface, it doesn't really bring the user back to the proper tab with the error fields.
As a work around, i've decided its better to validate each tab when leaving to the next one (as it is a step-wise tab) so that the button click at the end will only 'really' need to correct any errors on the currently displayed tab.
I'm using a simple anchor to call some div swaps (using negative margins for content off-page).
I'd like to invoke the validation method to this as well.
Documentation says it can only be attached to a form element.
Any ideas?
Update- i ditched the tab idea and am now using one big form so this no longer really applies.
No support led to going after a different approach. No longer needed.
I want to use the Watir to click a link that looks like a button attached the image.
I use the following method,but doesn't works:

If you can flash the link, but click does not do what you want, see this: How to find out which JavaScript events fired?
FYI what you have are links that are using standard background images controlled via CSS magic that keys on the class of the link to know what background to set. That's where the image comes from, and why you don't see it as part of the link in the HTML.
In that control, each tab is a list item element (li) in an unordered list (ul), and each list item has an ID, so that's the easiest way to tell it which tab you are trying to click inside.
Try identifying things starting with the LI that is the tab container, as within that container there is only one instance of each link of a given class. Of the 4 links, only one is without any kind of easy identifier, and if you need to click that one you'd need to use :index, but for the other 3 links using :class ought to work. This should result in code that is less brittle and subject to being broken if the order of tabs changes, or the page is refactored.

If the number at the end of the ID is subject to change, you can try a regular expression to match the part you can predict and is unique from the others

If you can reliably identify the object and use .flash but .click does not seem to do anything, you may have to use .fire_event('onclick') instead or .click.

If that does not work, then you need to start experimenting with likely events that the control might be looking for (which will not necessarily show up in the HTML btw.. it may be in javascript or CSS etc)
UPDATE
This is where having an live example of the control that we can interact with is critical. doing some googling on the class names I was able to find one here and that let me play with it a little, and what I discovered is that it is looking for onmousedown. so, on that site, this works

Now since those ID's may not be the best identifier, a bit more digging (using .text on the li that holds the tab parts) found me some text, which in a menu like that ought to be unique.. SO, we can change this to make things a bit more robust and clearer as to what tab I'm clicking on (this will also be less subject to breaking if the tabs change around.

Lastly, since the click is causing client side code to execute, you may need a brief pause (a one or two second sleep) to wait for that portion of the page to re-render etc.

If you're trying to access a newly generated popup window, do it something like this:

Given that the HTML you have supplied just seems to be an ordinary div element, my first guess is that this is not truly any kind of popup, but just a div that is using Ajax/javascript and CSS to simulate the effect of a popup (by manipulating the coloring of objects, and perhaps the 'enabled' state as well so it appears to be modal)
To be sure we'd need to see more than just fragments of the HTML Or better yet a reference to an example of a page that implements this control. It would also be helpful to know WHICH set of 'Rad' controls (since Telerik has multiple versions (Ajax, MS-MVC, Silverlight, WPF and Winforms) available) and knowing which one might make it easier to find an example of the control on the demo pages at Telerik's site
based on what little you've provided I would think that simply
browser.button(:id, 'btnOK').click #ought to work
Note that since this thing could well be coming into existence via client side scripting, potentially a brief wait might be necessary to ensure that the object exists, before trying to click it.
If that does not work for you, then use developer tools to look at the button input element and make sure it is not in a frame.
Otherwise please give us either more HTML, specifics on which RAD control this is (so we can perhaps find an example among their demos) or both.
I am trying to implement a simple trick which would hide span/label inside textbox when user starts entering text in respective textbox, and show it, on blur if textbox is empty.
(It is implemented on user sign in form)
This thing is working okay so far and here is the demo
But it fails in following scenario:
1) If user enters username, previously entered username list (the form data stored by browser when auto-complete is turned off) appears. And if user selects username with mouse-click from the list, password field gets auto-populated. Now though password field has value in it, it won't hide the span.
(keydown/focus/click/change event over textbox not helping in this case)
2) When the username/password is wrong, page reloads, username textbox has last entered value. But still the span over it is being displayed.
(I tried to check if username textbox is empty on pageload. It didn't work)
Can anyone help me fix these things?

What you need i s a placholder. Placeholder have been standardized by html5
and can be easily implemented via various jquery plugin (here is one).
i suggest you use those solutions, as they are standards. the ideal solution is to use html5 and than fallback to javascript for older browsers.

When you insert a letter in an input field, the text disappears. It's done with the help of that plugin.

Usability-wise, I don't think it would be terrible to hide the watermarks of both inputs regardless of which on was clicked/keydowned etc. Now this next option is controversial, so you have been warned...

Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that - most often used to prevent credit card fields from autocompleting. Hope something in here this helps.
