I am on Ubuntu 17.04 and I have installed the latest version of Parallels RAS Client. I am trying to connect to my VM using the credentials in my .rdp file I have downloaded from the Azure dashboard. I keep on getting this error.
Code [01/00000001] The specified remote RAS Connection could not be found. Verify that you have typed the correct computer name or IP address, and then try to connect again.
So far, I have tried the following:
1) Manually inputting my credentials into the connection settings and trying both ports 3389 and 80.
2) Checking with telnet as outlined here. http://kb.parallels.com/en/123015
No luck with both.
I have resorted to Parallels RAS Client (formerly 2Xrdp) simply because Remmina will not play sound on my machine.

I am using the Azure Mobile App quickstart ToDoList example to get started with cross platform app. I have set up the back-end and it is working on localhost - I can hit it using Swagger and gets posts etc are working.
I then set up the client application (Xamarin.Forms). I am running the client application on my Android device and all works great when back-end is in Azure, including the offline sync element. The problem is that I have to work locally for now but I cannot sync with the db when running on localhost.
At first the debugger was giving me a "connection refused" error, so I followed the steps here and in various other sources including using my laptop IP and setting firewall rule, adding binding to port in IIS Manager and applicationhost.config, and changing ApplicationURL in Constants.cs.
Now, I get no connection refused error, but the data is not getting to the db, athough the localdb on the tablet seems to be working - it is failing when I try to sync to/from db.
Not too familiar with networking but it may be important to note that when I use localhost:portnum/tables/todoitem in browser I get results in XML but when I use 192.168.0.10:portnum/tables/todoitem I get "Bad Request - Invalid Hostname".
By default, your Mobile App .NET server backend application will run in IIS Express. This is problematic when debugging with a client application running in another device on your network, or in a virtual machine in Hyper-V (such as Windows Phone Emulator). IIS Express will host your server application under localhost, which makes the application unreachable to other devices or virtual machines. Your client application running on Windows Phone Emulator has a different meaning for localhost. The same is true for the Visual Studio Emulator (which runs in Hyper-V) and the Google Emulator.
It is simpler to configure your machine to host your Mobile App .NET server backend application on IIS, as this allows you to control the binding of the server application to an IP address, rather than localhost.

We just installed JProfiler on a Windows box and a Linux box. The installs seemed to go fine.
We then installed the ejtlicense server on a different Linux box, and that seemed to go well also.
However, when we try to connect from the Windows or Linux box with JProfiler installed to the Linux license server, we get an error message saying that there was an error communicating with the license server.
Both systems can ping the hostname and the IP address of the license server. I have checked the license server using the admin tool, and everything seems to be working correctly on the license server itself.
Is there a requirement to explicitly set up the port number, or will the default ports work correctly?
Thanks very much for any assistance anyone can provide.
In many cases, this is a firewall issue. On the license server, port 11862 has to be allowed for incoming connections.
I just installed a Windows 2008 Standard R2 server with RDS. Whenever I attempt to connect to the server via RDP from a Windows 2003 server, I get the following error.
I am however able to connect from a Windows 7 desktop and using a Linux RDP client.
Anyone know why I'm getting this error and how to resolve the problem?
Thank you in advance.
This is probably a Server Fault question, but none the less my guess is the server has the following setting:
Maybe your Linux RDP client doesn't support this functionality?
If not, check your Firewall, it needs to look like this:
my host machine is a 64bit Windows 7 Enterprise device. I have vmware player installed and have a virtual machine running XP SP3 for some old fashioned vb6 development. Inside this virtual OS, I can access the internet fine. Virtual Machine Network Adapter is set to NAT.
I also have another virtual machine, running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. This is also set to NAT. However, I cannot access the web from inside this machine. Troubleshooting attempted include turning off firewalls, setting the vmware network connections on my host machine to auto retrieve IP & DNS and a long search on google. I found this, http://www.techexams.net/forums/off-topic/27651-vmware-nat-not-working-correctly.html but can't seem to follow the instructions as it's obviously a much older vmware version. (2006!) I also tried disabling "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration"
Any help would be great. Thanks.
Are you able to connect to your VPS via Remote Desktop? If yes, then check the browser settings for Proxy and see how it connects to internet. If you are using FireFox then you need to follow below steps:
Open Firefox.
Click on Tools -> Options.
Go to Advanced -> Network tab.
Go to Connection -> Settings.
Developing an MVC application, i now need to have test other browser versions.
Installed the VM XP on win 7. That is running good. Got IE8 installed and FF 3.6. I know IE9 has a compat mode for 8 and 7, but read some articles that these may not run exactly as their stand alone versions. I got IE8 installed on the VM XP, so now i need to connect to my IIS Win7 localhost.
IS there anyway to do this? and How?
You need to configure your HOST PC's firewall to allow the VM (and perhaps other machines) to connect on port 80.
You can then navigate to http://hostmachinename in the VM.
Although my firewall was off, i was able to connect using the local machine name or ip address, as stated above by SLaks. So, if anyone has there firewall on, you may have to allow the VM to access the ports.
I did set the VMXP >> Tools >> Settings >> Networking to my Nic/ethernet card.
Not sure if this had any effect.
I also had trouble at first not getting the .NET MVC website to run. But then realized our web.config is setup to take only https. I had my website running on 2 ports, one for is for SSL. When i use the https secure port, it connected. So iguess the web app was seeing the VM as another computer tryingto coinnect, that was not local, so it required it to connect by https.
